This is deep honestly. I don't know for others but as for me, I share my my private keys and every other thing necessary to my account with my brother and vice versa. This is not because we trust each other but just because of issues like this (death). All your assets will end up wasted for nothing if you have no back up plans. Note: I'm not advising you to imitate me. You can use a very different way.

As we are planning to build crypto portfolio for the future it's wiser to have someone in the family that know about our holding too, last week Monday I lost my father and so many things come to my mind like if I die tomorrow all my holding goes to waste since I'm not married yet and i am the only son I don't have anyone I can trust, anyone thinking the same?

What really happened to people having fiat currency in their disposal amd eventually died, all their accumulated asset got possessed by others either from their family or another while some were laid to waste because of inaccessibility, your plan today has a long way to determine the family that's coming on the way, at the end of it all, we discover that live itself is just a chasing after air, all is vanity because no amount of wealth in monetary aspect of properties left behind can sustain your children or family else they work their own out.

Please, accept my condolences on the death of your Dad. May you find solace in God's abiding word. Death is an inevitable end for everything that has breath of life.

You truly raised serious concern with the situation you've painted there. It's slightly different from the usual death scenarios that have been captured in other threads. Yours lives you with only you and your Mum since your Dad is dead and you're an only son. However, you didn't tell us if you've trusted friends. I don't mean that you should expose your wallet(s) or passwords to them but people you can still will your stack to in the case of death. If you don't have anyone, you can will it to charity. Just make sure instructions on how to locate the wallets and their passwords are included in a sealed will. Above all, just make sure you treat yourself well from the little you earn now and let tomorrow worry about itself.

It is perhaps the reason why many will advice you to try as much as to enjoy some of your money in bitcoins while you are alive, While you don't neglect savings, still try to give yourself a full life, go on vacations, boat cruise...buy that dream car you always wanted, invest also in people relationship etc because the day you die, even if you have someone in your family with knowledge of your bitcoin holdings and how to access it, he may just squander it all, the same waste that you feared will happen if no one knows about your bitcoins and you die.

We also have to be careful who we tell about our bitcoins, it doesn't always habe to be a family member...some close friends can be better  with secrets than family.

Have a lawyer and sign a last will if anything happens to you then that holdings of yours are good to be donated to a chosen charity of yours.

Or if you're too worried about being dead by tomorrow and your holdings will be put into waste then look for the love of your life.

How's your mother, don't you have her or your other close relatives that you think they need a helping hand from you?

Technically you can get some things if you don't trust one person. For example, you can split your key/seed using multi-signature addresses or Shamir's Secret Sharing shortcomings.

In general, decentralized solutions are the best, but you will transfer trust from you by 100% to several parties in varying proportions.

But if your problem is not related to trust, you can keep your private words in a bank with access to them by order of the judge after your death.

Daodex, there are legal ways to resolve this.
There is certainly a law of inheritance in your country.
You can also write your last will and leave it with a lawyer or notary public.
Of you write detailed instructions, your heirs will be free to dispose of your cryptocurrencies.

Death is inevitable we are all going to die but I don't believe that you don't have someone in your life that you like, even if you are a very bad person there will always be someone who is just like you and understand you, they don't have to be your Children might even be a cousin of yours.

Of course you can trust your blood line family member. If you are the only son then contact your cousin or any relatives out there. Its quite impossible that you dont have plan to build your family and dont expect that you are gonna die and leaving your asset wasted. Most likely youll definitely get out of it by having someone learned your remainign asset. Also dont think negatively about it.
Well I don't know what I am going to say about this but for now, --I don't think negatively.
We are in the same situation on OP's story and I am also thinking now on my side, perhaps I will write it on a sheet of paper and put it on my drawer box and tell my mother that has a valuable thing in my drawer box. You cannot also trust your relatives because sometimes there are instances that they may use your wealth just for their own but there is nothing we can do about that.
However, I saw different threads related to this and usually, they accept the fact that you are no longer the owner of your coin once it is handed to anyone else.

I believe lot's of people will definitely be thing about that, which I believe is better you look for a way that your relative will be able to access your wallet after your death, it won't really make sense if your family don't have access to your private key after your death, all the money you work for will be wasted in your wallet address, I believe your families should be able to access your wallet address so that they can make use of the money. After thinking about different ways which I can secure my wallet private, I came up with an idea of writing my private key in my personal diary which I believe nobody can have access to until am dead, so after my death my family will definitely have access to my private key.

If I die today I'm going with my crypto coins, no one knows that I have them as they are crypto unbelievers, I have no kids or wife so if death do come i will go with my coins, things will change if God spare me and i ended up getting married.

I would, in your case as in the OP's, consider that you are donating your coins to the Bitcoin community. If you have no one to trust, it is worth not telling anyone that you have coins, and in the unlikely event that you die soon, your coins would be lost and therefore, you would make the remaining bitcoins more valuable (albeit by a very small percentage).

This is the cons of crypto since we choose our privacy. This is the worst case scenario that might hit on us since there's no one knows what we are doing. We should accept the fact that this is our fate if we stick to our privacy or sacrifice a part of it and share our crypto assets to the person that we trust such as lawyer that will do the paper works for your asset transfer to whoever you want to receive it after your death.

AFAIK, There's an automated email that will send your desired mail once you are not active for a certain period time then bot will send your mail to the target address.

This has been talked about a couple of times already, and the solution slightly differs from person to person.
