Simply shows that God could have killed us all off if He had wanted to. So, trust in Him for salvation.
I think it is odd that if God wanted to eliminate us, he would do it with an asteroid (or a flood). It seems unnecessary and overly dramatic. And what does an asteroid have to do with trust or salvation?
We are probably not getting hit anytime soon. Some prophesies have to be fulfilled before the great earthquakes and asteroids hitting Earth
But it's pretty clear from the scripture that most parts of the earth will be destroyed by earthquakes and asteroids before the 1000years reign of Jesus commences on earth. This is probably why astriods are gathered in a particular region in space...it is as if they are waiting for the day to hit Earth in large numbers.
The universe will then be destroyed after the 1000year reign of Prince of Peace.
This truth is allover the Scripture. It is in the Book of Revelation, book of Ezekiel, Book of esdras, Book of Isaiah.

The new wine dries up and the vine withers; all the merrymakers groan.
