It's the escrow part that creates all sorts of regulatory and legal issues.

We in the community know that those phrases mean either 1. A transaction needs multiple keys. Or 2. Three pieces are created to form the private key, like what we use at https://anark.it/

Non-bitcoiners think the phrases mean the escrow can't be trusted. So what should we call these types of secure escrows?
