...
... Our prayers are so weak.
So true Bud!
Case in point,....when I say a prayer for red to come up on the roulette wheel, so I can win my bet, it only works 47.4% of the time. What a rip off!!!
I think that our holy father should at least bump it up to 50%, so one has a fighting chance.
I mean, come on now.... is that to much to ask from an almighty, omnipotent, invisible sky daddy dude??
The point, of course, being that we are focusing on winning the game, and not on talking to God.
"Praying" is simply what we say when we are talking about communication with God. Communicating with God, since we don't see Him or hear Him physically, is similar to imagining that He exists and hears our requests when we pray. Now, if only we could take it out of the "imagining" status, and bring it into the reality status. Then our prayers could be effective. After all, being God He hears us even though He isn't visible to us.
God wants our sincere hearts when we pray, not only the imagining that we are sincere. Almost the only way to get into a sincere reality about the existence of God is to fill ourselves on His Word, the Bible, daily. Both reading an actual Bible, and listening to Bible tapes and CDs are good ways to fill on His Word. His reality will express itself if this is done.
Matthew 7:7:
7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
There is a lot to those words of Jesus... much in the last verse.
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. What this means is, give to others in their need, or let them have what they take (steal) from you, because all you have to do is "Ask" (pray) and everything that you need will be given to you from our Father in Heaven.
Note that, if it scares you a little to give to people, because you aren't sure that God will give it back to you, then you aren't really asking God when you pray. You are only imagining.
