I'd say when we talk to each other only then we exist, when we talk to ourselves we are just pretending to be alive. We NEED somebody to talk to because we want to be alive. And that's great that sometimes we can find someone who will listen and who will talk to us. Thats one of the best things life can do to anyone.

That's why God made people. He doesn't really need them, you know. He has the angels. But He is very great, so He wants more ideas.

A universe with multiple actors is a model that tries to account for the unexpected. Our mind has a huge multitude of "listeners" that gather information from "out there", and we use this information to constantly update what we think is "happening" "out there" in what we think is "the world" around "us". Grin

One of the fun parts is that we can send replies back into the universe. This boils down to telepathy (or at least telekinesis if we think we just moving dumb particles around with our mouth-breathing). We could get bogged down in a debate about causality, and argue whether or not we're deterministically reacting to things that came before. But in order to have causality, we need things like time and memory storage and an ability to reason, which are all made-up concepts to help us explain reality.
