After banging my head against the wall, lol, I made sure I had the latest multibit program (which I didn't) then it still said I was missing the 5 coins, then after looking up on their FAQ "missing coins" instead of refreshing all the wallets, just refresh the wallet in question, it could take up to 3 times, according to the FAQ, well, it only took 1 time..

Whew, all is good now..

I just checked all the address in my multibit wallet against blockchain.info and blockexplorer.com and blockchain/explorer says that I should have 5btc more.. Now, the real test will be when I import the private key to .info and see what happens, but it makes me nervous, im messing with more than a couple coins..

Ive actually already done that. I rescanned from the earliest that I possibly could. Im totally stumped.. The only thing I can think of is to import the private key into blockchain.info and see what happens..

What ive actually done is reset the blockchain from the first transaction. It has to be an issue with multibit, because one day the 5 coins where there, then after a transaction, they were gone. i had figured it was just resetting itself. but when I checked the addresses on blockchain.info, the missing 5 coins are indeed there..

Well as long as you have the private keys and the inputs are still unspend you can still spend them. Keep in mind however that blockchain.info had issues with the blockchain data several times in the past, so your coins might indeed be gone allready. In your case I would export the private keys from the wallet, create a new wallet (with multibit) and import the exported keys. This should trigger a complete scan.

You could also do this with blockchain.info. I that case I would choose to "wipe" (or sweep?) the funds belonging to that key. Not sure how the exactly call it, but if you import a private key you have 2 options. Pick that one that transfers all the coins to a fresh blockchain.info address. From there you can transfer them back to a local client.

Lastly any other client that allows importing private keys (dont they all? Wink ) would work as well. Just keep in mind that an online wallet has a higher risk of you losing your coins.

I dont think an Multibit update would resolve the issue unless you have a version before 0.5.16 (Dec '13)
as there was this oddly unspecific update.

Well, if they are indeed gone, then it would be legit. I remember thinking that I  had 5btc too much after the transaction, then a few days later, they were gone. but i find it weird that blockchain.info shows that they are indeed there, I guess I wont know until I try to spend them. I added up and subtracted all the transactions in that wallet and it seems to be correct.  I guess Ill find out once I import the private key. I just hope I dont do further damage.

I guess the only way to get the coins moved is to import the private keys.

Just use the "rescan" feature, or "redownload" function on multibit.

This happens only if multibit misses an input, then everything is fucked up.

I suggest moving to blockchain.info and migrating your wallet there.

About 4-6 months ago, I made a big transfer, everything seemed to be okay, then all of a sudden I had 5 coins less than I had. I looked at all the transactions, and it seemed to add up. But just recently I put all my multibit addresses as watch only on blockchain.info. Blockchain.info shows the missing 5 coins.. So, I looked at each address on blockchain.info and according to that my 5 missing coins are there, they just dont show up on multibit.

What should I do?  Should I import my private keys on my blockchain.info account? Thats the only way I can see the way to get all of my coins, since multibit sees 5 less. this happened during the malleability issues, so maybe thats what caused it. Should I make sure I have the latest multibit program?

Im pretty sure that I actually have 5 more coins than what multibit says, if not why would the blockchain.info say so? I wondered what happened to them, I just trusted multibit that it was correct. Any help is appreciated..

thanks in advance..
