A month? Shocked Can the sender cancel that transaction during that long wait? I'm new to crypto.
I also ask that question too when I still don't know that the transaction can't be canceled when it's not yet confirmed or once you have submitted the transaction. At first I was looking a way to cancel the transaction but failed to do so I search and I found out that it cannot be undone.
You cannot cancel your own transaction, its can be cancelled by itself when it send with extremely low fees and no miner took it for the confirmation for several days.So it could take a month or two before the transactions gets cancelled.

At first I was looking a way to cancel the transaction but failed to do so I search and I found out that it cannot be undone. So the next time I send BTC all I need is patience to wait for it go get confirmed since bitcoin transaction confirmation is based on how much fee you have used so the more satoshi you pay the more miners will mine and get your transact confirmed faster than paying lower transaction fees.

Looks like OP's transaction was confirmed now, this can be a good lesson for a beginner about how to set the right fee for bitcoin transaction when we don't want to get into any of this trouble.

OP now you can lock this thread from lower left corner of this thread.

Waiting for a month in crypto is rare but a normal situation. But, be sure to put the right addresses and you'll be fine. Looking in this transaction, it is still unconfirmed.

it has a medium priority as of now (around 20k), which might take few more days to get confirmed based on https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/4f19503cea31c92d26dc77735c3eb824821478a0457ef0058608260df490d594.

if your friend needs to get it confirmed asap, then they should increase the fee or do a cpfp.

Likely sender was use low transaction fee. In a result miners will process high fee transaction first. Its normal case and you don't need to worried. I have experience for wait a month  Grin. I bought btc from someone but he was used low fee from blockchain wallet. So it was take almost a month to received in my coinpayment wallet.

So don't worry about that.

It's not possible to cancel that transaction. However, if you are withdrawing from an exchange and the exchange haven't processed your request. You can still cancel your transaction.

if you have the private key then you can do RBF (Replace-by-Fee) but as i see your post above that the sender use copay wallet which not support RBF
so all you can do is just waiting because the bitcoin network currently is very busy with more than 50k unconfirmed transaction

or the other way is using Transaction Accelerator that can help you to get into the block faster by paying the miner.
Maybe you can use the Transaction Accelerator that provided by btc.com as i can see that you just need to pay around 16.16$ to get into the block faster

The bitcoin network have been congested lately and it delay transactions that was sent with a low fees and since the fee went up few seconds the transactions was sent it result into delay in confirmation. This is a normal accurace your friend just have to wait for some time to get the transactions through.

No,it is not possible to cancel a bitcoin transaction once it was initiated, but you can change the transaction fee if it gets too longer on wallets like electrum if you send the transaction with replaceable fee or you can use child pays for parent feature where receiver have to add fee to confirm it quickly.

Always send transaction with recommended fee based on sats per byte then only you can get your transactions gets confirmed quickly.

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
He initiated the .125 BTC - the receiver already confirmed verbally they received it but you see there are no confirmations and it's going on 48 hours.

The  0.75029037 BTC went out to a different address - at the exact same time... He did not initiate this transaction.

The 0.75029037 BTC went to his change address: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1GYdECbNdBgskJheNqn8k1FnMYziawAM5C which i believe is also in the same wallet, so he does not have to worry about it.
He just has to locate the address 1GYdECbNdBgskJheNqn8k1FnMYziawAM5C in the wallet if he wants to send out money some other time again.

The longer confirmations are probably due to the recent spike in BTC price and there a spike in BTC transaction fees too

LoyceV on the road. Or couch.
This looks all normal: fees went up so this transaction takes longer because miners earn more from other transactions.

The 0.75 went to a change address, that too is normal in Bitcoin.

I got my friend into BTC so please forgive me if this the wrong place to post this but something really odd happened.

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/18d5QwxCj948C94Qw658frX5QNNauHTS3i

He initiated the .125 BTC - the receiver already confirmed verbally they received it but you see there are no confirmations and it's going on 48 hours.

The  0.75029037 BTC went out to a different address - at the exact same time... He did not initiate this transaction.

In his copay wallet, it shows a "Total" balance of .756122 BTC (which is correct) but the "Available" balance is .005831 BTC

the .75029 still shows as confirming and has been for going on 2 days.

This is more than just a transaction taking a long time to get confirmed.  I assured him all was well but I honestly have no explanation as I don't have much experience sending BTC around.

I know what is happening isn't normal - but surely it's happened before and there is an explanation?  Going on 48 hours seems like a while.

thanks!
