Let's start a "newbies back into newbie jail" movement  Cheesy

Actually, experience showed that newbies would not read threads even with the restrictions, they would just complain in the newbie section that they are only permitted to post there and that what they had to tell the bitcoin community was sooo important  Grin

Onkel Paul (I actually don't mind newbies all over the place that much - after some time you realize that even senior members can be trollish and that you need to ignore based on content, not based on forum age)

I prefered it when it was newbie restriction time phase.

But this jail might let them do some more spam to get activity + and get out from a jail...

As you know there some reasons why they cancel newbie jail.

kind regards.

Could just hive off subforum for Full Members and leave the wastelands open - need a MadMax like fortress to keep out the zombies Grin

Yeah, but at least they usually got their question answered by someone who was willing to do so without annoying everybody else. Would you rather them have access to the bitcoin sub so they could ask why they aren’t getting any Bitcoins mining on their iPhone?

That's what we had until a couple of months or so ago. New users could only post in the newbie section until they'd made a certain number of posts and browsed the forum for four hours. It was definitely better that way.

I wonder there would be more depth to [Bitcoin Discussion] threads, if the brand new users were held to a [Welcome to Bitcoin] subforum aka noobs-r-us  Tongue.
Perhaps locking new users to posting only in that forum for their first few posts would help have them read threads before repeating them?
