They are disabled, but last time I checked, you can post one from an external link. (Imgur.com)

Nah, that unfortunately doesn't work either.

OMFG avatars are disabled? NO WAY!
There is literally NO mention of this matter in any thread in this subforum

Saw atleast five other threads on page one itself haha. Nobody cares to use the search tool nowadays when there's no limit to opening unlimited threads. Smiley

The next one asking this should get a ban of one week, this may teach people to open their eyes

it's not a bug,it's stopped for the time being since a previous hack which used avatars. and apparently the admin didn't fix it until now and keeping it disable until it's fixed.

I used to change mine occasionally for comedy value; I'm stuck with this one for now.

OP could do a service and edit the first post subject to "TIL: adding an avatar image is disabled due to security concerns."

I have tried that a few times too and had no luck even in choosing the ones that the forum provides. I would like to place an avatar just because I want to spot my own posts in a long topic, nothing pretentious Cheesy

Yeah, it is useful for spotting your own posts. You can always control and F your username, but finding via avatar would be much quicker and easier.

Apparently bitcointalk.org is investing/implementing some new forum software soon, so maybe we might just have to wait till then.

Who cares about avatar actually?

Lot's of people do. It's easier to identify users by their avatars. It can almost become like their online face in a way.

I believe avatars are currently disabled for security reasons.

You mean changing of avatar settings is disabled, right? Because you and I seem to still have avatars on this thread. I don't wanna have an avatar if nobody else has got one though. I'll feel self conscious.  Embarrassed

People who already had avatars prior to the attack are unaffected, apart from they now can't change them.

I wonder if the account sellers charge a premium now for accounts with an avatar? lol

Yeah they are disabled on purpose but really the option should be hidden or at very least it should be stated somewhere that they are not available.
