Lol wow just look at all of those alts crashing. It looks like they all popped simultaneously. It just goes to show that bitcoins are what their prices are based off of for the most part.

The difference in value between the USD and the CAD might be the reason for the ATH in Canada crossing $1700 and at times more than $1900 depending upon the exchange rates. Hope this time the price is expected to keep moving and reach 1500USD  at the earliest.

Lol um... I hope your campaign manager reads your posts.
Nobody thinks about this because the mind is already clouded by the fact that the price of bitcoin rises and no one is interested in anything anymore.

We hit $2002 according to Google, although it didn't last long. Still it's another rung up the ladder.
I don't think the ETF means anything. Sure, if they reverse their decision and approve it, it could accelerate Bitcoin's ascent, but we're going up regardless.
I already posted this in the WO thread but I'll risk spamming to post it here too:
The mere speculation that the SEC would approve ETF is driving the price breaking all records and other than that i find no reason for the price to have a bull run and it will be a mad rally if they approve ETF because millions will be dumped into bitcoin  if they approve it and the price would soar higher than ever and breaks new grounds.

$1900 is a done deal.

We hit $1938 at Bitcoinaverage (global) and $1992 at Google.

Hopefully we hit 2 grand today. I've got my meme ready.  Cool

QuadrigaCX was at $1950 when I checked. Bitstamp seems to be a little behind. $2k is going to be happening very soon it seems. I hope people aren't riding on the fact that the whole ETF appeal came out as nothing had changed so I don't see the decision changing either.

title should be "We're at a Canadian ATH, eh?"

... That was just a typo. Fixed it Smiley. I see we flew past the $1600 mark and then some. We'll see a correction soon I'm sure. It depends what happens with this whole ETF situation too. The decision is coming early March isn't it?

According to Bitcoinaverage, the old ATH was $1255CAD. We broke that this morning. Now we're at $1291.
I thought that USD ATH was $1263 or something around $1250 at least, so how come canadian ATH was only $1255?
The only explanation I can think of is that Canadian dollars in 2013 was much more valuable, more than USD, is that true?
Yes our dollars were very close to USD in 2013.

Indeed, although the CAD might not have actually been higher than the USD. They were very close.

It has more to do with whose figures you're using. At the time, Cavirtex was the leading CAD exchange, but they've been gone for years now, but I seem to recall that they were in the low-mid-$1200s at the time.

I used Bitcoinaverage's price because they have the most accurate weighted averages of pretty much all trade-for-fee exchanges. Of course the Gox figures will be artificially high due to withdrawal issues and Willybot.

In 2013 the USD and CAD were relatively close. Looking at the historical data it seems that the ATHs were somewhere around the same price whereas today we're at a Canadian ATH but nowhere close to a USD ATH.

I see we were briefly over $1300.

One step at a time.

It looks like it's bouncing around the $1300 mark a lot right now.
Over $1300.. AHHH YA WE ARE!!

Yeah I'm surprised every time I check the price in the morning!

Great news for Canadian's, let's keep calm though & rejoice once we power past the ATH in all national currencies.

Every ATH is a win for bitcoins in that country/region. It should attract some press coverage  Shocked

Canada just surpass the all time high. So US dollar has a chance to surpass the all time high too.
Its makes me more excite. We are so close at $1000. And when we reach that. The rally will still continue from rising. 2017 is exciting year for bitcoin.

I am Canadian and I must tell you that is very cool that the price has reached that amount. We have around 30% difference with the US dollar, so is the reason the price is so high.

But, I keep faith to have 1 bitcoin in my wallet soon Wink

I bought most of my coins when the USD and CAD were at par. Canadians not only profited from Bitcoin's natural rise, but also by using Bitcoin as a safe haven from the loonie's devaluation. Win-win.
