When I first started mining, I went into it using a cheap BFL jalapeno I bought off of eBay. From there, and I kid you not, I moved onto 4Th/s consisting of two S3 miners and 3 bigger 1th units. This was all within the space of 4 days. I now sold the BFL's at a small profit. I only do this as a hobby, on the side thing. I'm currently up on my investment which is good but has been slow as of late.

Down here in Australia, the S1's sell between $50 - $170. S3's sell for $150 - $200. I got both of mine under $200 each and so long BTC stays where it is, they will retain value unless game changing hardware comes out.

Ditch the S1, get yourself an S3(same power consumption, more than double hashing power) and give it a try. If you don't like, pull out.

$150 for an S3?!?!?!

I do not believe you lol.  If you can find an S3 for sub $200 do that.
With the release of the s5, a 200 s3 would be a good deal for the seller. I can't say for sure what would be a fair deal for a s3, but it would probably be closer to the 150~ range including shipping

150 is possible it is on the low side.  You can get cheaper on here then other places.  Auctions on ebay have ebay and paypal fees.  They add up here you don't have to mess with those fees as a seller.

If you are going to buy an S1 you must underclock it to get better gh/w ratio. You might be just better off getting an S3 for slightly more in the long run since the S1 is already obsolete.

Hi guys! I want to start mining bitcoinBTC and I found on ebay used Antminers S1 with 180-200 Gh/s for $80-100. I think it's a good price for that hash rate. What do you think about it  Huh ?

What are you trying to do?
Do you pay for electricy?
$80 is a little high for an S1 but not too bad, I see tons of them for $50 on kijiji in my area.  I would HIGHLY suggest looking on kijijij, screw Ebay.

Situation A:

You are trying to make money and you are paying for electricty.

Answer A:  BAD BAD idea you will lose money daily in power costs.

Situation B:

You are trying to make money and you do not pay for electricty.

Answer B: Not a bad idea you won't make much a day but without eletricty costs you will pay off your miner and make money.

Situation C:

You want to learn and get into mining

Answer C:  Buying an S1 might be the best idea there is, very cheap per Ghash and hashes pretty quickly.  You will lose money though.. Well unless the BTC price explodes.

S1 is for testing the waters only. It's not efficient at all so you'll need cheap or even better free electricity for it.
Those are sold for $40 max around here

I mine with S1's still. I'd sell them to you for $55 each + shipping. They are good reliable miners, but there are faster units that are more energy efficient available now. If you have cheap electricity or just want to try mining without investing much money the S1 is a great product. I use the S1's to heat my home while they mine.
