And it doesn't matter there will be less Bitcoin around because Bitcoin is infinitely divisible. 21 M is just an arbitrary number.

Those coins will be out of circulation for ever.
Like treasures on the bottom of the ocean.

And no, you can't do anything to compensate because you will never know which ones are lost and which one are just kept as savings.

Hi,

BTC will approximate to 21 millions in a future, but what happen with the BTC that people forgot (or will forget) in wallets? I mean if they forget private keys? Does the Bitcoin protocol do anything? If not they will be less quantity in a future.
