I havent found a reliable app for price alerts for bitcoin. I just try to check my phone often or stay around my computer and access to the internet. I used to trade forex and the broker would have an app on the phone which would automatically notify you. unfortunately bitcoin isn't at that stage yet.

I use trading view for price alerts. you can set up SMS text alerts for when you are away from a computer. tradingview.com
Tradingview is very nice to use but sometimes I find that the SMS alerts come a little too slowly for my liking. if you are trying to trade 5m charts, it isnt viable but if you are doing 1hr+ charts, it will do the job.

You can try coinbase or mycelium. They are wallets I know but they always pop up with price alerts each 2-5 minutes. So it is nice to use them.

i am using android phone and in my phone, i installed tabtrader and ztrader as my main apps to do trading beside my pc and i think it can help me to make order buy and order sell. you can use bitcoin checker too as alarm to make you watch if the price is up or down, actually there is many more good apps that you can use, you can trying one by one to see what the benefits that you can get.
I agree with you . Ztrader provides us with the ease of providing information about digital currency exchange. We can choose easily coin that we will monitor. Besides that the ztrader look is very user friendly for use by a newbie.

Which are the app for IOS users ? Are there any app which  is simplistic and easy to understand and also where we can set our own price and get notified if it reaches that price ?

You have Bitcoin Checker as the first option: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobnetic.coinguardian&hl=en . I never tried it myself but from the reviews and the downloads, I assume It's good enough. If you are a programmer, you could take a look at Coinwink and build the phone app yourself. (the website is already done and send notification to email)
If you do not used the application yet why you bother suggesting it. For me the best application on tracking the rate of bitcoin price, exchange rate and value is called coin.ph. In here you can monitor the ups and downs of rate through a graph with a specific rate of exchange. Not just that it is a wallet at the same time so you can hold your bitcoin and see the price in a instance. You can also do your transaction via coin.ph like paying bills, buying load or sending and accepting bitcoin on transaction so it is a multi-purpose and very handy because it is a mobile application.

Bitcoin paranoid is one of the better application compared to others for price notifications.

I'll try this one.

Let us know your experience. Been using it from months now and it's one of the best compared to other international and local applications in terms of notifications.

I don't use any apps for the price alerts, most of the time I keep on visiting preev.com for the updates.

It doesn't even giving me some hard time upon checking the price. But I'm also curious what is the best app for the price alert.

I wanted to try one of them.

On my Android phone I use PoloTracker. Unsurprisingly, it has all of the coins that Poloniex trade. You can flick through the charts and set alerts, very helpful if you're not sat at the computer all day.

Most of the Bitcoin related applications in iOS are buggy. I shifted to Android because of that.

Oh, well I know less about iOS but I think CoinDesk has an app including price alerts and they're quite reliable.

If you want it on your notification bar, just install whatever Apple's stock app is these days and add Bitcoin as a stock, then enable stock notifications in settings.

If you're using Android, I recommend Bitcoin Paranoid.  It permanently shows a notification on your phone with the current Bitcoin price, and you can go onto the app and see it really easily, seeing which exchanges you're getting the info from.  There are several others but I like the really simplistic design.
