"Cap" stands for "capitalization" or "market capitalization" to be exact.
What's small, mid, and large are subjective to the user in my opinion but there are some "standards" written,
- large cap: above $10 Billion
- mid cap: above $1 Billion to $10 Billion
- small: above $100 Million to $1 billion
Those below $100 Million are often called micro caps.
