This is useful. I'm pretty new to the whole business and don't want to get scammed. Thanks everyone!

I've had good experiences so far with " Coinex " and " Cryptsy " have added coins, gotten payouts on coins to my wallet or another exchange, an coinex has mining pools for those who jump around to most valuable coin to trade with.

Not sure about the others, I do know Mt Gox raised flags since it's almost always having the highest bitcoin value of all exchanges, that's just a red flag to stay away, any site that needs to promote via false inflated values needs to be avoided like the plague.

As for scams,

Gambling as from what I've seen is more set up than vegas, in other words you'd be more profitable playing the state lottery every day, pick 5 or pick 3 n 4 mid days, there is always Keno.

Just remember, TRUST NO ONE. It isn't the X files, but has just as many creeps. Smiley

Hi all,
Whats the best website for bitcoin exchange. I have read on this forum that Mt.gox isn't very trust worthy.
How does the selling of Bitcoins work, can you sell instantly like stock, or do you have to find a buyer manually? Can you easily buy on low and sell on high? EG it went from 240 -250 about three times today.
Perhaps I'm a bit late jumping on the band wagon but I'm very interested.

Dang....

You don't recommend HashFast?

Who do you recommend?

Someone with hardware ready to ship.

Hashfast promised to ship by the end of october, but now screwed up everyone.

Yup, they promised to ship by the end of october but their policy said latest by 31 december... So I guess they will just try to meet that deadline instead...

You are correct on HashFast. I contacted HashFast for the shipment date several weeks ago. Then, I recently asked them again for the updated shipment date, which has changed. They won't tell me why - but I suspect it's related to ASIC issues.

The odds at a casino are usually much better than a pre-order.

The problem with Gox is getting your money out, in terms of delays and charges.

Localbitcoin is usually pretty quick and reliable (in the UK anyway) so that is a more realistic value as to what you can actually get.

is MT Gox a bad one to use???  their exchange rate seems the highest

I see many experienced people on this forum use the exchange rate from MT Gox when they request some kind of trades...

What is the fair market value?  Published rate at BitPay or just look at multiple exchange listings and take something in between?

The price seems a bit higher for the localbitcoin guys

newbies should probably focus on companies that have been proven reliable rather than avoiding companies that have been proven unreliable.

It's easier to ask what companies can be trusted since the number of them is much less.

Before trusting anything you should search this forum, especially the Scam accusations sub forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 .

If it's a scam it has most likely been talked about here before.

Here are some good sites to research:

http://www.coinjabber.com/currency/bitcoin

http://usebitcoins.info/

I'm trying to get payment proof on as many sites as possible.. Smiley
