It is more likely that Rusian government will try to control bitcoin users (or businesses that accept bitcoin in russia) rather than the whole blockchain. imho the worst think they can do is to ban mining. Don't see any sense in such actions but russian government doesen't seem to be smart.

What Russia does is perhaps the policy of the country. And we who are not from the Russian state do not need to panic in response to the polemic. I think bitcoin also has its own way to address and deal with the polemic or issue.

The government of Russia is not stupid but trying to ban bitcoin will simply not work. They a few weeks ago come out with a bold statement that they want to ban the use of Tor browser which can be used to bypass any ban by any government. I think the Russian government has to focus more on more important things than bitcoin at the moment.

Any ban can be circumvented.
But they understand that this is a bad idea.

Russia is one among the country that got increased number of bitcoin users. Also it's one among the country that issued ban notice on use of bitcoin within the country. Later they have known about the goodness and have started usage of bitcoin in majority of the needs.

Russian government made statements about prohibiting Bitcoin earlier. Now they try to find a way to control it. What are their chances to succeed in that?
Earlier, russia tried to ban bitcoin. But it could not do so.then they decided to regulate bitcoin.but still, they find it an issue to regulate bitcoin also and till now, they have not framed any rules regarding it.Russian government says that it does not find any huge benefits by regulating bitcoin.Rather Russian banks are also very much interested in adopting block chain technology, but they don't want bitcoin which works in the block chain technology.Thats the huge difference.

why would Russia do such a thing? they announced such initiatives but later they approach positive towards all cryptocurrencies. They support Ethereum and Waves and met Vitalik Buterin. Sasha Ivanov is on Russian media, lots of ICOs coming out from Russian Federation. I think they look Bitcoin as a good weapon towards US Dollar supremacy

Russia has zero chance to control Bitcoin. They can try to control it in Russia, and Russians can use VPN.
They have a better chance to control alcohol, and that too they will fail in.
Didn't Russia ban usage of VPN a few weeks ago ?

There is trouble abrewing
Russian government made statements about prohibiting Bitcoin earlier.
unless you have any reliable source other than shitty news sites such as cointelegraph, cryptocoinnews,... that proves that "Russian government" made this statement, i would say it is complete nonsense like always.

they and any other government can never control bitcoin. the governments and banks can and have been attacking bitcoin, trying to infiltrate it and push it out of its way but has not been successful so far and hopefully the community stays alert and cuts their hands in the future also.
