This will definitely hurt the market as it is a huge amount of bitcoin so it is difficult to avoid negative impacts. But I don't think this is the start of a bear market because Trump is so bullish on the market. So once he officially enters the White House, he will be the one to pull the market back if Biden decides to dump bitcoin on the market.

Even though Biden is still the incumbent president until the end of January, but I think his power is also very limited. Just like increasing aid to Ukraine is also facing many difficulties as Marvell1 mentioned. I don't think he would have any luck and face no resistance if he tried to sell the bitcoins the US government is holding.
I thought that as well, but on second thought i just realized that it doesn't need to. It depends how it's been done, as in most cases big sales like these would be done via OTC that doesn't destroy the liquidity, and those buyers would probably be long time holders, because of the price.

In fact that would give more incentive for those buyers to keep the price up, because they need to protect the value.

Also, Trump would need to start that bitcoin reserve from the start, meaning that it would increase the buy pressure.

I am not afraid that this would hurt crypto in long run in any way, but it might start the new bear market for sure.

He already commuted nearly 1,500 sentences and pardoned 39 people in one day, so i don't think that selling cryptos this is far fetched.

The funniest thing he did was that shit with his son.

For those who don't know, he claimed that he'd never pardon his son if he's sentenced by court. Then he pardoned him of all the things he did in a given period (around 10 years if I remember correctly), which means that if he ever gets charged for say murder committed in those years, he won't go to jail. Biden is such a liar and a sore loser. When Democrats lost Biden was like -fuck it, now I don't care anymore. It's time to stir some shit!

If he sells some crypto and causes a small crash, potentially the US will benefit when Trump decides to buy it all back because he'll be buying cheaper. Wink

What are the changes that Biden sells all US confiscated cryptos?
Politicians can do some silly thing just to hurt or make the next government suffer. When some politicians leave office in my country they usually take more loans or employ more people so that the new government will not have enough funds to pay the debt or workers. Some enemies of Bitcoin are already advising Joe Biden to sell all the Bitcoin the US is keeping. Peter Schiff Advises Biden To Do One 'Good Thing' Before His Term Ends: 'Sell All The Bitcoin' Held By The US.

If such a thing happens, it will affect the price of Bitcoin temporarily and the market will recover after a few days. But I don't think Biden will take such a step. It might even lead to a legal battle because some persons or institutions will try to halt the sales using court injunctions.

I've thought about it too, I wouldn't be surprised if Biden pushes to sell the bitcoin the US government holds before he leaves the White House. But the question is whether he has the authority to order the sale of all the bitcoins held by the US government. Because there are many decisions that the president cannot make on his own without the consent and approval of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Just like his administration rushed to release $24 billion in aid to Ukraine because they were concerned that after taking office, Trump would cut off aid to Ukraine. But unfortunately, this proposal also failed as the lower house rejected it.

More likely he would just give it to his sponsors.   Fink, Netanshaatan, etc.  Or have it extorted from him.  It's not like Trump would try real hard to get it back since he works for almost exactly the same people.

And gives the money from the sales to Ukraine.      Cool
That's a possibility. I mean Finland sold 1,890 confiscated bitcoins gave all to Ukraine. Usually confiscated money in Finland is either destroyed or sold and used for Finland itself.
It's not been just given away in the past. When Putin attacked to Ukraine, attitude changed radically in every way, and majority wanted this to happen.

Finnish president didn't have anything to do with it though, because unlike in US, we don't want our president to have a power or immunity of a king.

He has some days left, and i have been wondering if he does something surprising like this.

He doesn't have anything to lose, and it's not like there are any consequences for presidents of US any more, so he wouldn't have to answer to anyone.
Reasons why he might want to do it, is that he wants his legacy to be remembered, and definitely at least wants to do a grand gesture before exit.

He already commuted nearly 1,500 sentences and pardoned 39 people in one day, so i don't think that selling cryptos this is far fetched.

He might do it just out of spite against trump, but as US government holds over 207k bitcoins, that would would be a huge incentive for him to act. It would be billions of dollars addon to budget, that could be given to any cause he likes to support. Frankly i am more amazed if he wouldn't consider it.

I am not afraid that this would hurt crypto in long run in any way, but it might start the new bear market for sure. Imho that's healthy because it would let new blood in and more people would have changes to enter with lower prices. And it's not like shorters would lose money. They would have more money to long with after shorting, if they wanted.
