from the first time I got to know the crypto world, I always used MyEtherWallet and blockchain both of these wallets have high security quality so it is difficult to break except from our own error
Blockchain cannot be called as highly secured because people faces many bug while using that wallet and still the problem persist even after lot of updates and moreover you are not controlling the private keys which means the wallet is not really under your control.

I also started with coinbase, that's classic. Then became wiser and paranoid and got myself Ledger nano. Now I use Lumi Wallet app as well, no need to share any private info, very easy to use and can create new EOS account for free (newbie EOS fan here).
https://blog.lumiwallet.com/create-eos-account-for-free/
Lumi is only for EOS right so you are only having EOS coin at the moment?

Anyway coinbase still good and only for smaller storage funds.

Until now I still use blockchain wallets for bitcoin and local wallets for exchange ... for erc 20 altcoin I use an mew wallet and metamask for security access. There is no problem because with 2fa google authenticator was very safe.
MEW and blockchain.com doesn't have 2FA security features as far as I know. Sad

It has always surprised me too, but so far this wallet is number one in security through the hot wallets
MEW is not a hot or online wallet, its like an offline wallet which needs private key or the wallet file with encryption password to access it.

Blockchain is slightly different hot wallet which ask wallet id for login and its one time complicated login which makes the only right people to login but not completely safe.

From the firstly time I know crypto, I always use MyEtherWallet for everything. And I only have 1 wallet till now. So lazy to create another wallet for privacy. Don't know why.
But still safe till now for almost two years. Never find any problem with MEW

I don't own too much bitcoin nor ETH or other erc20 but I do trust up these wallets where I currently using.
If you are using electrum, just keep update to their recent versions for the proper working and connections to servers.

Maybe you already know it but can be a good info for the people who see their wallets are not syncing to the servers because I faced this situation when I was new. Smiley

If I am able to achieve what I need from a thing, I do not not think it should've changed, except I discover there is an upgrade.
Take for instance, imtoken wallet for ethereum and the tokens that use its platform. Recently the wallet got some upgrades, I had to follow suite, because I have always enjoyed their service and I do not think switching over to an unknown will be safe.

The first that I have used besides MEW was EIDOO. Its installed in my android phone was the EIDOO wallet. Its a hybrid wallet with an exchange on it and it also have its token for the project. Pretty cool wallet that anyone can install. I guess when their exchange finally work, its token will also fly high. I learned about this wallet when they promoted their project in the forum. Today, we have seen more projects like this alike where they do have multi-coin wallet and an exchange all in one.

If you changed wallets from one to another then you also can mention the reasons.

I am currently using electrum for storing bitcoin and stored my private keys in hard drive and MEW for ethereum and tokens.I did used coinbase when I was new but lately found that it is not safe to hold cryptos for long.
When I was a newbie I started with Coinbase and one other wallet that I knew nothing about as of then, so I ended up losing some few Bitcoins in that other wallet which made me stop using it and sticking to only Coinbase wallet, which I believed was safe cause I've never heard any story about them getting hacked even till date and they are always updating their security.

Then later I started making use of Xapo, and one of the features I did like about them was the cold storage, although I didn't know much about jt but I felt it was safe and I also never had any issues with them. After that, I have started making use of Blockchain wallet and Trezor and a paper wallet as well. Then I have Luno Wallet which I only use whenever I want to withdraw money from my wallets to bank account.
Coinbase didn't face any hacks but the coinbase wallet's users claimed that their funds was moved without their permission which maybe done from the hackers. It doesn't have private keys so one who knows how to hack the registered email can take all your funds and ofcourse 2FA can be a barrier but still it can be bypassed and proven by experts so it is always better to have a hardware wallet for ultimate security.

For now I use Myetherwallet to store Ethereum, and there are a number of altcoins whose value is only a little I keep on an exchange account. I use OKEx and Bittrex to trade. And not too often to make a withdrawal to the storage wallet. Except for being in need for daily needs. Given that withdrawal fees are also a little expensive right? Thank you. Smiley

Im not using electrum wallet since there was a hack / malware incident in the past.
For ethereum coin and tokens, im using myetherwallet and metamask to send and receive eth and tokens.
The most important thing is you should have 2 wallet. 1 main wallet for holding, and 1 other wallet for transacting.

I don't really choose the wallet, if there is trader using the wallet to save the coin and he says it is good then I will also use it, and to save ETH assets, I use MEW
Don ‘t choose a wallet because a trader introduce it to you, I know that s how we get to know some of the thing we know in crypto, which is through people, but after getting the necessary introduction to any wallet, we still have to do a further research on it.

The reason why I am saying this is because I have once lost few of my coins to a bad wallet being introduced to me by a friend who was not even certain of their effectiveness, until I personally researched Exodus wallet out and installed it on my computer, and ever since I started using exodus, I have never had any issue, it has its private key and so many transactions can do within it.

In the past i use blockchain wallet, myetherwallet then i use trading site wallet for tokens and some alts because even that's risky i trust that i will not experience scam or hack like there's a lot of ways to avoid that

Then now i only use our country wallet like we have fiat currency converter in this and many trading site still better always to save or hold the affordable for you then for security use hardwallet like this is really safe
Atleast check that they have vault and hot wallet then even if there is a hack then only the hot wallet can be hacked like we have in coinbase. But exchange or P2P site is also cannot be saved from all their secuirty measures because all their wallets will get hacked not only the individual wallets.

It is safe to hold crypto for long but it not safe to keep your asset on exchanges. I started with imtoken wallet and i have been consistent with it until this moment, what i like about it is that bitcoin can also be stored on it.

Hardware wallets may be safer. But all depends on the coin you have. In a few years, MEW is very safe and my coins are not in the Retas. I used to have lost the coin so I replaced the wallet immediately. But my coins were already lost. Now I'm not only wearing one wallet but some MEW wallet.

Well, when I first ever started I was using the default bitcoin wallet, the one that you download to your computer and everyone knows, the real wallet of bitcoin.

It wasn't for too long though because that required me to keep it on my own computer and my computer was very old at that time so I was thinking about changing it for sure so I wanted to move to an online wallet until I got a new laptop and then would move back into real wallet (never happened). So I found blockchain.info (now blockchain.com) and I used that for years and years, probably until 2016 I was using them, they didn't had changing wallets at the time, now anytime you want to deposit it gives you a new wallet and I hate that.

So, I moved to primedice, I know it was a gambling place but at least they were trustworthy and I knew nothing would happen to my coins there. Now I am using binance, I know they had some issues recently and they are always attacked so I am looking to switch to ledger nano soon, I just need to convince my wife to let me buy a usb stick looking thing for that much money Cheesy.
I think you have to buy it soon or atleast move to any wallet with private key because even trustworthy sites will face attacks and we might not able to control our funds at the time or we will completely lose them so better use elctrum's latest version for storing your bitcoin and move the funds later once you convinced your wife. I was first using MEW for my ETH and now have Coolwallet (a hardware wallet) for my BTC and other alts. I didn't really switch because both are good and only issues I'm getting are whenever there are updates on the hardware one but asides from that, I'm okay. There are other hardware wallets that I'm taking a look at now, one of them can store your digital collectibles together with other major coins. Its like a wallet made for fun, and pure crypto at the same time. What is everyone's thoughts on hardware wallets and are they a good alternative to mew or blockchain.com?
Yeah, I don't see any harm in hardware wallets at all since it also provides another layer of security to avoid you from getting hacked.

Almost all the coins I have been using the Ethereum platform. So I used MEW and so far the wallet is very safe. I was very fortunate to have never experienced a wallet hack. For a safe and secure wallet, we should be able to take care of it safely. Like, don't store private keys in places that you frequently use data for online. And don't easily believe it with others.

For small transactions, mostly I use coinbase or blockchain.com, because those are accessible from anywhere. However, I don't store more than 0.05 btc in web wallet. For ethereum and its token, I use MEW.

For altcoins wallet, i always using myetherwallet since the old time until today, still the same wallet, why? Because i trusted this wallet and never had a single problem until now.
MEW is still the safest and more convenient for the normal users like us where we are not going to keep them in millions so its perfectly safe while we are keeping those private keys safe.

I am currently using electrum for storing bitcoin and stored my private keys in hard drive and MEW for ethereum and tokens.
I think you shouldn't write your private keys on a hard drive. Or at least create a back up and write it on a piece of paper that you can keep or a type of paper that won't get old by time. I have used electrum before but I shifted to a ledger nano s now for keeping bitcoin.

I'm planning to get my ledger nano x soon.

I did used coinbase when I was new but lately found that it is not safe to hold cryptos for long.
Yeah true that our funds aren't secured on exchanges, we don't hold and they don't the private keys.
I am not holding huge amount of bitcoin so I thought a hardware wallet for me is not needed so just stick with electrum and also always updating it to get better security.

Writing at the piece of paper is good but not sure about the reliability of it,so have digital backup only.
Writing at a piece of paper is like when you buy a ledger nano s, they provide a piece of paper for you to write the recovery phrases so it's very usual style of keeping your private keys. It's very safe and you just have to keep it somewhere that you are the one that can get it.

Like higher place that even kids can't reach it. You can write it on a notebook and just put some kind of codes that you can only understand it because if someone sees and reads it and he has the understanding of importing private keys, you are in the danger.

Wallets like Ledger, Tezos are more useful in terms of security. But I am also using electrum right now, and IMO it keeps my security as much as I need. In fact, safety is something we need to pay more attention to, the wallet is just the tool for that.

The features in this wallet are so easy to run. I also know the security features. Security features are important and first things that will be considered if we use a wallet. Until now I am still comfortable using this wallet and I don't want to change using another wallet.

Exchange wallets aren't totally safe for long term keeping, you are putting your balance into risk if you are that kind of person. For safe keeping purposes, we have plenty of choice that can be found on https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet that's a combination of desktop, hardware, mobile and web wallets for bitcoin, the best choice would be hardware. For ethereum, blockchain.com, MEW and a ledger wallet is my choice and I'm just rotating with those wallets, I use all of them in ethereum.

Market condition has any relation with our wallet selection?

I am currently using electrum for storing bitcoin and stored my private keys in hard drive and MEW for ethereum and tokens.I did used coinbase when I was new but lately found that it is not safe to hold cryptos for long.

I think there is no one who does not use MEW or Metamask in the current market conditions. I'm also using the Infinito wallet and Huobi wallet, and I'm very happy with both of them.

For bitcoin i still use sometimes blockchain web wallet, but mostly i use mycelium for phone and keep using when i need, and sometimes also electrum, for Ethereum i still use myetherwallet and also sometime i use in combination with hardware wallet (ledger nano s).
I think if you use a blockchain wallet to store the assets that you have, you still have the risk of losing the assets you have, some cases in the blockchain wallet have lost their assets, I suggest wherever you save assets you must be careful.

The first wallet I used for bitcoin was the blockchain wallet after which I got introduced to bitx which is now known as luno, I am currently using this though. So far I have used some other online and offline wallets, Xapo, mycelium and Coinomi. But I prefer coinomi to the rest. For etherium and all erc20 tokens, I used Myetherwallet, then Imtoken but currently trust wallet is the best for me

Right now I am using coins.ph. It is most famous digital wallet here in Philippines. I think this is already perfect because it is like a convenience store or one stop shop where can you transact different transactions. From buying load, paying bills or even travel tickets to sending money remittance it is good. And from the start I feel that this is a safe wallet.

Seeing yr rank in the bitcointalk shows you are not a newbies and asking what kind of wallet people use and why they change it to me is not a good idea.

Because I believe u know most wallet people used and why they are used but asking personal question about wallet is not a secure discussion to my own opinion and will advice to stay away from it cause there scammer every where and willing to know what and why people use various wallet and securing measure about them to know how to bye pass them .

I am not asking their private keys or anything personal, just discussing about their experience with the wallet will reduce the time for the newbie to select the right wallet for them initially.Anyone found discussing about our wallet experience is inappropriate?

I am only using Myetherwallet for my erc20 tokens and ETH ,
I also use hardware wallet for my BTC and I have used blockchain wallet before but since I bought a hardware wallet I didn't use it anymore.
I also use coinbase before and xapo for faucets.

I had the same experience. With tokens I got from many projects (especially in 2017 and early 2018), I usually used and still am using  the MyEtherWallet which is very reliable to me as long as one should not be sharing one's PK so we have to be careful with phishing sites. As for Bitcoin, I usually do not have much of that so I just left my Bitcoin with a reliable local exchange so that I can convert into the local cash anytime I wanted to. I got two accounts in Coinbase but they are just for promotions right now. I also managed to open one Xapo wallet but was not able to use it. Based on my bad experience,  am now careful with downloaded wallets because I was once a victim of a malware with that.

Once a man, twice a child!
I started out in 2017 with a Bitcoin paper wallet. It was my first experience and I can't clearly remember how I stumbled on that. Perhaps used it twice or three time before moving on to the blockchain.info web wallet same year. I have held that wallet till date without any issues of hack. I also tried Electrum in 2017 for a few transactions until it had that phishing issue where several accounts were compromise. In 2018 I tried the Coinomi wallet which has proved to be as reliable as the blockchain wallet.

For ERC tokens, I use Imtoken which is more reliable than MEW with all its complications on keystones and Private Key. Imtoken is very easy to use and has so many ERC tokens.

Well from the start i only use myetherwallet as wallet. Im not really active on cryptocurrency so i never use any other wallet. So far my wallet not hacked yet. Maybe i will check other wallets that more safe.
MEW only support ethereum and tokens so what will you do if you want to store any other crypto currencies?

I have tried many wallets
Blockchain : my first wallet when I first got to know Bitcoin, and filled it with Bitcoin from Faucet results (2014 - 2015)
Coinbase : This wallet I used when I played HYIP really liked this wallet because at that time there was no fee ( 2016 - 2017 )
MyEtherWallet and Indodax (Local Exchange) : after getting to know the world of ICO and Bounty ( Mid 2017 - Now )
By the way I've also tried Ledger Nano S, this wallet is very safe but after I don't think it really needs it I just leave it blank

i have always used exchanges for altcoins because as you said it yourself, it suits my "needs". and when it comes to choosing a cryptocurrency wallet you must always consider your specific needs. and exchanges satisfy my need for the short term owning of altcoins since i never hold any of them for any longer than their pump lasts.

as for bitcoin i have two types of wallets. one is a paper wallet for cold storage and long term holding and the other is electrum for desktop to send and receive coins as hot wallet.

Mobile wallets are the best for me ,safer than PC wallets and more easier no need to sync the whole blockchain data ,the best on I like using was coinomi but after bad news are spreading about coinomi I switched to enjin wallet ,seems better and easier ,just be careful when choosing wallets on play store ,some are malwares

Coinbase is not a wallet! People, please, this is something everyone has to be aware of, but many people aren't. By definition, wallet is something you control, not another company on your behalf. So, yes, use electrum for bitcoin, that is a good option. I use it too. For ETH, use MEW, even though it is a web wallet, just because there is no other good option for ETH. But don't use exchanges' wallets to hold your coins. It is not healthy at all.

I don't like using windows wallet because of few reasons like getting easily hacked ,PC might get walware or viruses anytime ,so I started using mobile wallets since 2016 ,the first one I like using and still using till date is copay wallet ,no issues so far but limited with bitcoin wallet only so I moved to coinomi mobile wallet for altcoins which I've been using since 2016 as well ,no single issue so far and it support almost all popular coins available on coinmarket cap
