I think there is nothing wrong in doing something that gives you pleasure but doesn't affect negatively your life. I don't think it's wasting live if I often drink, go parties, gamble and etc, it doesn't ruin my life because I am going pretty well.
But I would ask your question with different meaning. What are most of the population wasting their lives on? Answer is simple: making some people rich. Yeah, let's take countries where people work like slaves to feed themselves while business owners are becoming and becoming rich, none amount of money can feed them. They collect money and that's all, they have so much money that they don't even need and even if they invest in something, for example in startups, they do it in order to increase their budget and their budget increases from our pockets, so money in our pockets decreases but for all of this, we work days and nights. That's a problem, huge problem.
This is how our economic system works. If we want to get richer then we need to be smarter and first step is stop doing jobs which keeps you as slave.

Try to do the investments and avoid paying taxes legally which is the way to become richer and Warren Buffet proved it as well.

25 days, 3 hours and 7 minutes spent on bitcointalk.
Time is your most valuable asset: never waste it; enjoy spending it as often as possible.

331 days

12 hours

6 minutes

On btc

Did that in seven years.

Which is about 4 hours a day
But there is someone called "hmblm1245" has been online on bitcointalk for "2336d 23h 31m"
Which is nearly 6.4 years. Shocked

But didn't post anything since 24 May 2016,but still online at the moment. How is it possible?

Well it all depends on our point of view you call it a waste of time while we call it quality time,
Don't call it a waste if you are communicating to a person you care about what if it is the last time that you could do it?
~snip
When you say waste, it means it no longer has value to you — now or anymore. Maybe it was useless. I guess we waste our time on people who don’t give importance to us. We give them so much of our time, effort, and developed feelings for them but they can’t do the same way for us. On the brighter side of life, it’s not a waste of time when we are talking to our loved ones. Every moment spent with them, we can never take back and must be cherished. Some might say we waste our time on this, maybe because we spend too much, but I agree that it’s all in the way you look at it. Your perspective to how you value your time and who you spend it on.

If we have a lot of free time, we have a lot of time to waste.

I am not a fan of watching shows in TV, or playing computer games or online games, my only habit is to gamble online
and that is very entertaining from the start but when I loss money, I used to realize it's a waste of time.

Also, I am actively visiting this forum, I like to stay here reading valuable comments and participating in discussion and though at the start of my journey here I feel it's a waste of time since it does not give good return but eventually it gives me the return I never expected, it's a positive thing, if you will ask.

...reading this forum and studying the cryptocurrency on the monitor screens. Yes, it really is in most cases. But I want to say that there are much more valuable things around us: Family, children, beloved wife, mother.. Let's give them more of our time and not live this life so useless.

We all know about all of these. Thank you for wasting 2 minutes from my life for reading your topic and two more minutes to post this reply.  Grin

PS: I hope you have no plagiarize it from anywhere.

Play games and watching TV. I once played a PC game 3 days in a row and only slept for 5 hours a day. Coupled with watching TV for hours. This is an activity that is a waste of time in my opinion. I play games and watch TV too much. At my current age, I regret that because I should be able to produce something more important and get the benefits now.
I don't really consider it as a waste of time because we enjoy it.
For me waste of time is doing what you don't really want to do not enjoying the time .
But as long as we enjoy it we shouldn't consider it as a waste Y.O.L.O so enjoy don't live a life full of regret enjoy what you can.

well, I can see that you are very frustrated by everyone who is wasting his/her time inefficiently. but this is human nature we can't be perfect but everyone wants a life where he gets all the satisfaction and comfort and not forgetting the wealth too. I have spent like 10years playing with my friends and in that 10years let's say I used technology as like 2hours daily but now I use technology 70-80% of my daily life, but it is not wasting my time. I do not spend my time on social media or other useless stuff I mix technology with my daily life to save time and as a coder, I used to automate stuff which needs my regular attention so I can not skip the time but I can definitely reduce that amount of time it takes.

During our 20's to 50's, we spend a lot of time working. If your work doesn't make you happy then your wasting your life.
Better find a investment or work that will create a passive income and continue to increase it over time.
Set an achievable passive income goals that will accommodate your lifestyle, once you reached it.
Then live life that makes you happy without wasting it.

I wasted my life on study
Collect money
Travel to long distances
Watching matches
A lot of silly stuff
None of that sounds like a waste of time. You should always be willing to study and learn new things, not just in school.
You collected money? Were you a debt collector for a mob?  Grin
I wish I had travelled more. I have seen some beautiful countries and could never get enough of that. Travelling is a great way of understanding that those you maybe considered as foes are just portrayed that way and they think the same about you, and you are both wrong.
Watching matches? Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't turn my back on my club for anything in the world. Thought me about respect, loyalty, teamwork and passion. The victories and the joy are my drug.

You should have thought before you posted this. While posting this very long thread, you have wasted your time in vain because you can actually avoid doing so and just talk less.

For the number one statement, you had, watching videos will give you more than what you expect. There are too many videos on social media that are so much educational and that is the reason why some people spend their time watching videos on social media platforms. I don't have time to waste reading the rest because I have a lot of things to do and I'm busy with my personal business and I won't mind the other's business!

Wasting my live on Promoting/investing in bitcoin (cryptocurrency in general)  actually that's what people think

I can sympathise with you. A lot of people think I am wasting my time exploring various crypto currencies and economies. I think I am wasting time creating projects to explore in the company of others. All I seem to be doing is checking applications, and deleting stuff from prospective spammers. It would be more productive to create a number of alts, and just talk to myself. Smiley

Value is subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

There is no point is imposing your values on someone else. It creates more problems than benefits.

Some interesting things you've got on your list.

Not my list. That is what the OP said we should be doing instead of wasting our lives on other things.

1. That's true. Browsing social networks, news websites, Youtube and etc eats a lot of our time. It become much bigger thing when smartphones become very popular. Now people become less productive at work also, because instead of working they waste time on social networks and other websites.
2. Personally, I don't talk on phone so much. Maybe I would say that mainly women usually have very long conversations. But now most of us spend a lot of time chatting on Messenger and other text messages platforms.
3. Luckily I live in small city. Even if traffic is big there, I have to spend only 15 minutes to reach my home from other part of city. I can't imagine myself living in large city where I would have to waste 1-2 hours just to come back from work to home.
4. In past I spend a lot of time playing computer games. Now I don't have so much time to play. I agree that now games are really attractive, but for some reason I don't want to play it so much, maybe because that I feel that i'm wasting my time. Now I don't even have any games on my smartphone.
5. That's true. I watch TV a lot, it's turned ON whole evening at my home, even if I don't watch it and do other things. There's stats that ratings of traditional TV is decreasing, but now more people watching Youtube, Netflix and similar video content platforms on their TV. But in my country it's become popular to not have TV at home. People just don't find things to watch on it, they don't want to waste their time watching shitty local TV programs. If they want to watch something, they can find it on VOD platforms.
And one thing - at the top of Bitcointalk page I see total my time when I spent here - it's 73 days or 2 months of my life. Probably I spent much more without being logged in. Bitcointalk probably ate biggest time of my free time and I feel that I was able to spend it more productive.

Who defines what is worth to spend your time with? When I was younger I loved to play video games and spent a lot of time to World of Warcraft. I enjoyed it very much, met a lot of people and some of them are still friends. Something that seems worthless to you may not be worthless for others.

...our daily life spends most of your time? Let's see.:

   1. Today, a huge part of humanity sits for hours on the Internet - .... for 20 years you will spend almost 10 months of your life!!! Is it worth it?

   2. Endless conversations on the phone. ...30-40 minutes a day, and it's almost six months of your life in just 20 years!

   3. The biggest problem of big cities is traffic jams!! ... in large cities, people spend 3 hours a day...

   4. Another very interesting article of your time spent is computer games! ....begins to play the games in 10 years, finishing it in 30 years(and many later) in average for 4 hours per day over those 20 years is obtained as more than 3 years.

   5. And finally, the most important time destroyer of all people Is the TV! .... there are much more valuable things around us: Family, children, beloved wife, mother.. Let's give them more of our time and not live this life so useless.
....

I talk on the phone about computer games when watching TV over the internet, in traffic jams.

You are hurting the feelings of the phones, computer games, TV and internet. And the traffic jam has rights too. How would you feel if you were a traffic jam and people were insulting you like this?

Friends have you ever thought about what takes your time every day? Most of us spend our lives in vain without even thinking about it. What do you think of our daily life spends most of your time? Let's see.:
   1. Today, a huge part of humanity sits for hours on the Internet - and not to find out what the important events or reading any discoveries. People sit on the Internet mostly on social networks endlessly clicking on the photo, watching videos. As many reading policy which is a disappointment. Even if you consider that you spend an hour a day, then for 20 years you will spend almost 10 months of your life!!! Is it worth it?
   2. Endless conversations on the phone. Often it is a disease of girls today are going crazy all just nothing to do. I do not blame the development of communication, but I think it is necessary to adhere to some framework. Business conversations and communication with relatives is a sacred thing. But 50% of the time they talk on the phone just to talk. The average person in a developed country talks on the phone about 30-40 minutes a day, and it's almost six months of your life in just 20 years!
   3. The biggest problem of big cities is traffic jams!! Yes, in traffic no one is to blame and they are not going anywhere you say, but think about it - all the traffic we've created for ourselves every day hanging around on machines anywhere on any trifle without using public transport. People spend a lot of time in traffic jams. On average, in large cities, people spend 3 hours a day-that's minus 5% of your life wasted!! In 40 years of work get more than 3 years of your life!!!
   4. Another very interesting article of your time spent is computer games! On games some simply go mad and spend on this every day on 6-12 hours, but not all such gamblers. Yes, the game is fun and sometimes play for an hour, the other with friends is fun and fun. But do not you think that instead of spending the game on entertainment to spend this time on the study of the same cryptocurrency and modern scientific research, opening your business. If you take that a person begins to play the games in 10 years, finishing it in 30 years(and many later) in average for 4 hours per day over those 20 years is obtained as more than 3 years.
   5. And finally, the most important time destroyer of all people Is the TV! Endless Series, stupid shows, various TV games-sometimes we watch TV just because it's ON!! Many people consider television the main entertainment in life and it is difficult to argue with it. And how much advertising we are looking in the view defies description.
I do not forbid to watch TV and watch it myself. There are wonderful movies, TV shows, interesting TV shows. But sometimes we do not notice that in addition to the TV we have other things to do . For example, Family, children, nature, face-to-face communication. Are you ready to spend almost 15% of your life on TV and watching it you will forget the next day? I'd rather go for a walk..
You will say that I carry some nonsense, because I like all of you for hours sitting on the Internet looking at the charts, reading this forum and studying the cryptocurrency on the monitor screens. Yes, it really is in most cases. But I want to say that there are much more valuable things around us: Family, children, beloved wife, mother.. Let's give them more of our time and not live this life so useless.
You can go to work on the subway, instead of games in the evening to spend this time playing with his son, with the news to walk with his wife. instead of socializing. networks to go on a visit to parents and then believe all will be much better and to you and your relatives.
