and I exactly live in Indonesia.
You know what, most people from Asia (Asians) identically have beautiful black hair.
And they are mostly slant eyed.

who cares where we're from.  all the users here choose to read the english section.  there are other local sections on the forum if you did not know

Why so negative? I for one find it very interesting to see in the poll the userbase of Bitcoin. Also the fact that Africa has zero is significant, it just comes to show how undevelopped the infrastructure there is, while the biggest value of bitcoin is for people in third world countries with no solid fiat system....

I don't understand the purpose of this. What does knowing the continent tell you?

It's pretty technical, but let me try to explain it in simple terms. Knowing what continent you're from gives me a general idea of where all you fuckers are from in this world without requiring you to divulge too much detail on where you're from. Bitcoin has away of promoting anonymity.

Just joking with you, it's just a simple question...like when you go to a party and strike up a conversation with someone knew and say "so, where are you from?"

This is one big party, I'm meeting you for the first time...so where are you from?

Ok, I get it but I have no issue with you knowing where I'm from because I don't really believe in breaking the law. I live in the Diamond Heights district of San Francisco right across the street from Glen Canyon Park.

From Asia here, so it looks like people from north america and this continent is leading the poll. Nice to see more asians getting active in this forum.

Link to mining pool stats:

https://blockchain.info/pools

EDIT: I could not figure out how to get that pie chart pasted in here, but here are some recent stats re hashing power, these figures are very similar to the ones I mentioned in a separate thread a few days ago:

AntMiner:          18%      China
F2Pool:             15%         "
BTCChina Pool:  10%         "
BW.COM:          10%         "
KnCMiner:          6%       Sweden
GHash.IO:          4%       UK?  Slovakia?  Ukraine?    (Comment: remember when GHash.IO briefly had 51%?)
BTCGuild:           3%       ?
Slush:               3%        Czech Republic

There is a separate column for "Unknowns".  You can search Google and find out the country, or at least where they report from.  IIRC, "5.9.xxx.xxx" is Germany and "82.221.xx.xx" is Iceland.

Correct me where wrong!

That was a nice idea you came up with, asking bitcointalkers where they come from.  It will be interesting to see how well (or not) those who respond to you come from vs., say, hashing power (blockchain.info's mining pool stats).

N. America!

Hey, that's a great idea. Let's compare the location of hashing power to this poll. Where do we find the hashing power source info on blockchain...is it relatively easy for me to find?

I'd love some stats on the geographic make up of the active folks on this forum. I've not seen the statistics compiled or shown anywhere else (and if they do exist, please feel free to point me in the right direction.)

We can learn a lot about each other by knowing how geographically diverse (or centered) the community is.

Thanks.

SE Europe here, i think most of our audience is from US, and asian teritories, but am also interested in what the poll will show.
You can take a look at alexa report, it will show you some basic statistics, but sadly not full informations, since its a paying service.
