You could run your own Bitcoin-based service upon your node like blockchain based texting or information storage.
You can look up every transaction in the blockchain if you have txindex enabled. You can also use that to run your own block explorer.

- I think it's cool that you can solo mine, even though it's just a waste of electricity.
- You can create and broadcast raw transactions using the console.
- You can get real-time blockchain statistics like getmemorypool, getinfo, getdifficulty
- You can create your own multisig addresses with createmultisig.
