anyway, AWS will shut you down and put the account on hold, asking for 2 proofs of ID,
and since  the account was set up with VCC, burner number and and an address from google street view....game over

It's only profitable if it's free.  And it's against their TOS.  Don't bother.  AWS mining was a short lived thing of the past.

This is something I was curious about also, but the problem is CPU mining just isn't profitable, outside of perhaps the scope of running a masternode?

What about CPU mining of XMR? Given how cheap CPU is on AWS, could this be profitable?

I attempted mining on the "g2.2" instance, but the following error occurred when ccminer was executed and failed.
I tried both Ubuntu 16.04 for OS and CUDA 8 and CUDA 9 for CUDA toolkit, but it was the same result.

Cuda error in func 'keccak 256 _ cpu_init' at line 299: invalid device symbol.

Without using AWS promotions, it's never profitable.
GPU's such as tesla is not appropriate for mining considering its price.

I highly doubt that that would make you any money, as it just isn't powerful enough. The only way to reliably mine bitcoin is with an Antminer or a custom built computer. Also, most cloud mining services are a scam, FYI.
