I hope it will hit its price peak this year just like its price from year 2017. I have been planning to use some of my bitcoin in opening a physical business in my place.

When Bitcoin hit the peak price I sell some and invested in alt coin, altcoin has been proven got a better rising than Bitcoin even though that it's more risky, and now I sell some of my Bitcoin to invest in gold and stock, the market if Bitcoin is very unpredictable so it's hard to make profit in trading, so I invest some on the Fiat investment
Thats good idea, backup plan is very important to make, even you can also make plan c or plan d, the most important thing is diversify is very good for reducing risk. You can invest in other things like gold, silver, stocks and many others

Right. Times like these when the market is down, it's unavoidable. And people who don't have contingency plans usually end up using up all their coins unwantedly. Whether it be other crypto investments, physical assets and businesses, it's important to have a fall back.
Yeah people who have a backup plan certainly won't be confused when bad conditions occur. they still have backup funds to buy
again, and they don't use capital that can't afford to lose, so this is a safe move. from now on make plans and backup plans

A year or two ago, I was one of the lucky people who broke even with my investment capital and since then I made almost 800% profit on the capital that I invested in Bitcoin. I decided very early on that I would not have all my eggs in one basket and I started to sell some bitcoins to buy assets and also collectables to serve as a plan B.

How many people sold some bitcoins for some profit and used that profit to invest in something else, just in case something went wrong with this experiment?

If you follow the same strategy, please share your thoughts on what you are buying or planning on buying to distribute your investment portfolio?  Wink
Maybe it is not a bad decision ? Maybe if you did invested into something else you would have had much worse outcome ?
Maybe that would make you lose all of your money quickly, maybe keeping it in bitcoin was the smartest decision because in 2 years it will be x20 than right now ?

We still don't know the results until that person has either enough money to live forever or has no money at all. Bitcoin is not dead, you are not dead, he is not dead so we still have time to wait and see if bitcoin is better or not, maybe it will move slower and you will be at a loss for longer while transportation people make money but in the end maybe you will pass them.

I had a lawyer friend who made a ton of money and much more than I did but last year I made a lot more than him thanks to the increase, now he is making more than me again but who knows maybe I will pass him again.

It looks like I made a big mistake without thinking like you. I had the capital with a value of 20 times the amount of money I spent when I joined this market. But I didn't drop any of my bitcoin to invest in something else. Now I really want to invest in marketing and business but really have no money to do it. A few friends also suggested that I participate in the transportation business. It's a pity that I had to miss too many opportunities because of this decision!

We all make a mistake in our life, not just you. But we have a chance to invest now, and I am sure we can use the opportunity if we want to grow our wealth. But we need to accept the risk inside of the investment itself because if we understand the risk, we can be careful to decide and of course, we can trying anything to survive. I made a lot of mistakes too, but I still want to fix my mistake by not making the other mistake, and I still learn to be careful everytime I make a decision.

I don't buy anything by bitcoin till now but I sold bitcoin and then fiat currencies reaserve in nearest banks for my child and wife. Because bitcoin and altcoins are not permitted by my government.
You're great, cause you are responsible husband cause you have planned for your families future, the profit you get ,you directly deposited in bank and even your government did not allowed bitcoin in your country you know what to do how to earn money and to save for your family's future.
Know your purpose of earning money and don’t just think about the things that you want to have. If i have my own family, i will do the same thing because I’m living not for myself anymore, and more lives are depend on me on how I behave with my finances. Honestly, I don’t have any plan b for now, I don’t know what to buy and how to spend it in the future, I hope to spend it in a meaningful way.

I was able to make good profit on my bitcoin last year and I also made decision to hold several asset apart from cryptocurrency.  I held 50% of my profit in bitcoin and the other 50% in real estate.  Today,  I have residual income coming from real estate!
That's good to hear.I was able to make profit at that time too and so i have finished building with my dream house and have bought a family car.Hopefully this year will give us more profits so we can also start some good businesses in the real world.I know this will really happen in the perfect time.So let's be more patient and even productive in the crypto community.

None. I didn't spend my Bitcoin in a Plan B. My Plan B is to accumulate more Bitcoin at this moment since the price of it is considered low. I think investing in Ethereum will be good too but a little too late.

Lucky for some people who sold their Bitcoin in its peak  because they are sitting right now in a huge profit and either used it for business or buy some needs or it has been invested to other income producing things. Sad for me because at that time, I'm just starting to know cryptocurrency Cheesy.
There is no late in investing because if you come to see the market today it just drops again, it might be a good time to invest in ETH or BTC if you wish so. While you accumulate today you just have to wait for the peak too to come then that is your time to sell most of your coins collected. Without having a backup plan will totally fuck you up in the long run.

I think I like the strategy even though it has never occurred to me as plan b.
In my own case, it was not bitcoin that I sold actually.
I sold some of my altcoins and then bought gold with the proceeds.
The market conditions of last year pushed me into doing that .

I have a plan B to buy an ICO Token that is dying in the current exchange market, because many ICO Tokens have prices far from the ICO price. Well, my plan is to buy it with only a little money that I have, but if the price of Tokens is very cheap on the market, I will get a lot of Tokens, so I will hold until the price of Bitcoin rises, because if Bitcoin rises it will be followed by all Altcoins.

All currency is highly dependent on Bitcoin, as soon as it starts to grow, it will pull along with it and everything else.

So even if it is Bitcoin, divide it instead of invest in just one thing. As a matter of fact a lot of money is needed to trade Bitcoin and it is more rewarding ''to invest from investment to investment''. I want to say that find out the expected altcoins for the price increase and jump to the another after earning.

bitcoin is THE plan B for me. it is not like i started with bitcoin and then moved one to other things. it was the other way around. it is always going to be a different "basket" for each person in each different country depending on the situation. it consists of stocks, bonds, precious metals and even real estate. then bitcoin was added and i increased the investment in it as much as i could.

as for altcoins which some people have been bag holding in the past year or so, i still find it a terrible idea because not only they don't perform well in the long run but also they are highly risky as investments because of their pump and dumps.

I see a lot of people are using Alt coin investments as their Plan B and I would not advise people to do that. We only have to look closely at 2018 to see why that strategy would fail. The reason for this is simple, because in 2018 the Bitcoin price went down and most Alt coins took a hammering at the same time.   Wink

I don't buy the other assets except for crypto because I still trying to search more profit. Although in the last year we can book the highest profit ever, I don't take much profit because my balance still not too big compared with the others.

So far, I only convert my bitcoin into fiat because I need fiat to buy my daily needs and once I can collect a big profit, maybe I will start to think about investing in other things in my real life. But I also want to buy more coin because I see I have a big chance to increase my balance in the future.

I bought gold jewelries!!!. Back 1999-2000 I bought lots of them and then went to Canada for sometime and when I go back Gold price was slowly spiking so I got huge gain. So with my bitcoin earning, I try to get as much as I can to hedge, lol. I remember pawning some of them during the financial crisis of 2008 and it was really a big help to me to raise money quick, I still have them and will continue to collect more (usually bracelets and necklace).

For me, I sold some of my bitcoins to buy other altcoins which have the potential to become a great cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Looking at the current state of the world, cryptocurrencies are the best option or way one can invest in. The crypto market is young and the ecosystem keeps growing everyday as time passes by. This presents a great venture to be a plan B project in terms of financial investment.

I think most people that ere in Crypto space before 2017 made money and took profit in the last bull run, it now depend on what you ivested your money into. The difference here is that investing into other asset apart from Crypto   do not give thesame return as crypto, Crypto return is very huge and now I am thinking of selling part of the asset I bought with the profit I made  in the last bull run and invest back Crypto, want to take advantage of the coming halving next year

This is what the majority is planning to do. Those people who take profits are now sitting on a large amount of fiat money thinking what you are thinking. That they would be willing to risk it again and purt money to work in crypto. What paid off once can pay off again and even if they lose they will only lose a part of their profits from last year.
We can expect the next bull run to be very and sharp.

The Stock Market is the right choice at least for me. I mean you will still be monitoring all the movement in just one computer and you don't need someone right by your side managing what you are doing like some other assets. I think this is the very best "don't put all your eggs in one basket" situation for me as it is totally a different industry, just buying another altcoin is not enough. Just look at the crypto market right now you will see that almost all other cryptocurrencies follow the movement of Bitcoin's price.

Yes, I sold some amount of my bitcoin and I invested in some merchandise that I've resold and I am still doing it. I love plan B philosophy, it's something that is necessary in life of every person. Nobody should rely on one thing only,. It can go wrong and you don't have to be very smart to get that conclusion.

Bought a house, but of course not buy it directly with bitcoin. And now i can rent it and get money every year, in my country rent house can do monthly or yearly, well at least it is good investment.

I have read most of the replies in this thread and this seems to be the best bet, because you earn rent from the property and most property prices in a good area, goes upward, so you can still sell for a profit in the future.

Property investment is only a wise choice if you bought the property without debt and if you buy property in a good location.  Wink

Also been thinking about starting a small brick and mortar business and I may get the monies from that 🤔🤔🤔

Smart choice in trading out BTCBTC for other investments WHEN bitcoin was hitting it's highs..

I was transferring out into bullion. Gold, silver, and platinum last year. Turned out to be a great choice as it kept value.
Now that cryptos have collapsed, I am able to sell my metals instead of cryptos and even rebuy BTC at lower pricing Grin

Hopefully this is a rinse and repeat type deal. Next time cryptos moon, I will be doing the same.

Though I have absolutely no interest in it as any type of investment I did ponder getting some gold just to look at. I think I would wind up resenting it though.

I also bought some computers that will help me in my study where I take the course of information and technologies. If the price of bitcoin will rise up again I will use the profit to but some cameras because I want to capture a picture and I want to make some video and I will post it in youtube. As their is no bitcoin shop in our country so their was only option left is to convert to fiat and i almost sold my 80% of savings in 3rd quarter of 2017 and bought a land. Today i am feeling it was right decision as both side i am in profit, one i sold in high price and second the land i purchased it is giving me 50% profit right now.
absolutely right and I also like that by using bitcoin to buy hold but the bitcoin that I use is exchanged to the rupiah first because in my country it prohibits using crypto currency for transactions. so buying land can be my future investment

I have no plan B as an investment. I'm pretty much dedicated to holding and I'm not planning to sell until I find something more worthy. I have some cash at home (not in the bank) and I have some antique silver. That's basically it. I thought about buying something else but when I did the math nothing looked as good as cryptocurrencies. I don't need a new house or a piece of land somewhere, I don't need a new car. I also think that stocks suck and I could buy more silver or gold, but where would I keep it all?

There is trouble abrewing
remember that you can't really compare bitcoin to any other asset because it is a very new thing that is different from everything else. any asset that has ever existed faced challenges but nothing that constantly put roadblocks in front of it reaching its potential. while bitcoin is the opposite, it has a lot of potential and so far it has been facing a lot of challenges preventing it from achieving them.
and being revolutionary you can't expect it to "change the world" in only a decade!

there simply is no asset that can have any returns even close to bitcoin in the long run. maybe some innovative company (like Apple for example in early days of it) that is brand new and you could get in on the ground floor but nothing  else.

as for diversification i personally only have gold although i never trust its price in the long run like in 5 to 10 years!

I am not so sure about that, even after I experienced a VERY good year in 2017. Most people who invested in Bitcoin in 2018 will disagree with you on that.  Wink

Remember we do not have any guarantees that we would ever have a repeat of anything that happened in previous years. Yes, Bitcoin has loads of potential and it might happen, but it is not written in stone.

A lot of assets has a much longer history than 10 years to prove my point.  Wink

I usually want the same same strategy by using a plan B way of making profit because I'm kind of a person that believes that there is always an open opportunities available somewhere every time. But my current plan B for this month was investing into Ethereum for the hard fork free coins and as you can see the price is going up slightly.

Let's just get something straight, I am not trying to tell people to sell their coins now, to invest in a Plan B, because that would be stupid with the Bitcoin price being this low. I just want people to consider investing in a Plan B, once they show some decent profits on their Bitcoin investment.

I am still buying bitcoins , but I will always have my plan B. I do not invest in Fiat currencies, because I believe they will all fail eventually and Stockmarkets are due for a correction, so I pulled some investments from that too.

Very rare coins and stamps hold their value for a lot longer, and I like to collect it.  Tongue

I didn't really do anything with the bitcoins I sold. ( I sold around the range of 14k-17k )

For now I'm just sitting on the money I've gotten so I don't really know if I should buy more bitcoin or just spread my money in other sources or even just keep the money for now like I've been doing.

If I were you I'd diversify my portfolio. Try to find a source for passive income which can guarantee you a stable income for years. It will be a great strategy especially if bear market comes again. I'm a bit unfortunate because I don't have that many bitcoins and asset so it's hard to invest and diversify my portfolio.

I mostly spread out to various index funds -- S&P 500, DAX, CAC 40 etc. Since I live in the EU mostly biased towards EUR based indizes to limit foreign exchange risk.

The classical markets are pretty grim right now as well though, so I'm in the red ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still a better hedge than alts though and not money I need in the immediate future, so it'll turn around eventually.

I somewhat followed the same plan because my Post Graduation in Finance taught me to diversify the portfolio. However, I didn't invest in collectible items because the return is somewhat uncertain. Instead I bought an Single Premium Immediate Annuity Insurance plan from the profit I made back in 2017. It gives me a monthly income which will continue for 15 years and peace of mind because I won't have to think about the basic necessities even if I loose my job.

I suggest you to go ahead with similar type of Insurance plans which provides monthly income as well as the capital protection for the insured period. I opted for "Refund premium" rider so I will also get back the premium amount at the end of the policy term. Let me know what do you think about my Plan B?
