Here is a fun question for all of you who started in trading in crypto. I know this is a learning experience for all.
What do you wish you did or didn't do when you first started, trading, buying and selling?

What did you learn? that you should have done or not.
this could be fun

mine was traded too much of my BTC and should have held.
as I didn't know anything about trading at that time. now I know.
plus buying some coins at too high and wanting to just have it
now I am smarter, I wait wait till a dip and buy at a low point

now your turn
One of my biggest regret is when I sell my bitcoin possession  on the last week of November 2017.  Just after I sell my bitcoins, The bitcoin value start to increase and reached its peak price for about more than $17,000.  I really regret selling my bitcoins because I do not expect that bitcoin value will reach that high.  I sell that because I thought because the year will  about to end, bitcoin price will depreciate but I made a mistake.  I lost a lot of money because I sell my bitcoins.

I think that's when I start trading just because I do not know what I'm doing and buy a good amount of coin I sell it cheap so that's the one thing I did wrong.

The more mistake you did then more knowledge you got. Mistake is not always bad but sometime can lead us to learn about how to prevent same mistake in the future.
So now you know you did wrong then dont do it again in the future.

When I was beginner I trade only based on the people's suggestion, I never check the news or the market, and luckily my first trade is huge success, but not with my second and third, I lost a lot of money, then I start to trade by using trading signal, the result is not too bad when the market is good I can make  a lot of profit, but after few trades I realised that I cant depend on others to trade, os I start to learn the chart, technical analysis and subscribe crypto news

Most of the time picking the wrong trading/exchange site on the process of turning it into either eth or btc i pick sometimes the most pricy exchange and after that exchange nothing returned in my favor specifically speaking not a single profit has made it into my wallet.

Personally, I trade with luck of knowledge before, I just both penny coins without reading any details about that coin and in ended up a big loss for me. That's the first and last time I did that because after that I push myself to learn more about trading specially in cryptomarket.

If you wait to fall before buying, you are one of the wise investors. It's wrong to panic when you're falling.

Buying at a lower price is an ideal thing to do so, but you should know when to enter because it can fall harder or not, it will depend on your target price.

Everyone makes mistakes and it's often the case that if the mistake wasn't made, they could have been the next crypto millionaire. I started off my journey in Bitcoin back when it was around $200.

I had around 3 BTC back then, but got pulled into a pretty simple scam. Ended up losing around 2 BTC in that.

Another one would be a couple of ICOs that I could have invested into. I was very very close to putting in a good chunk into Enjincoin when it was announced. Ended up not doing it because I was lazy and didn't want to convert my BTC over to ETH. Would've bought at around 1-2 cents per coin. It recently hit 50 cents per coin.

I guess one think to take away from this is to research before you act, and if you're on edge, act on instinct. Don't let things distract you!
I know what you mean, most of our lives are not decided by big events but by the small things that we do or don't that mold our destiny, if we had taken a different decision here and there our lives could be extremely different, but sometimes things are for the best, I was undecided about investing between two coins, at the end I choose one, the other one is basically at zero and the one I bought is holding his ground and it is looking strong, if I had chosen the other one I could have lost all my money.

When I started trading crypto-currency, I've made a lot of mistakes. The mistake I made over and over was buying at a high price and selling at a low price. I was always panicking and making impulsive decisions. I had a loss. Then I realized that I was doing everything wrong and began to study trading. The more practical experience there was, the fewer mistakes became

My biggest regret was when I sold an altcoin of mine for 2$ each and in the next week it became $7.
Another regret was when I didn't buy RaiBlocks when it was 3$ (almost bought it, but then changed my mind).

There are plenty actually.. Well, humans makes mistakes. So I'll just consider this as a lesson. And I believe all of us can relate in the same way :p

No people can make their life without mistake and this is include in cryptocurrency.
This is not really big mistake from you, because i thinl you sold your altcoin when it was $2 each is already get profit. Dont ever regret if already in profit because someday you will find altcoin going down when you not sell it and its bigger mistake i think.

Grin This is typical of the experience you get with trading. Some of us have experienced it but we still have to move on for better trading experience are ahead. You win some and you lose some.

At times too, after selling off on a good profit, the price dips and you we also be thankful running away with profit.

I think it's not good to wait the price to fall, because right now the crypto world was rising from the dip last week. You should buy now don't missed the chance, because this coming day the value of crypto currency will increase.

Should have ethereum earlier last year.
In retrospective it is easy to say that but there are no guarantees that is why unless you were completely determined to buy ethereum and something made you not buy ethereum then I do not think of it as a mistake, very few if any could have predicted all the crazy things that happened last year, so forget about it and concentrate in new coins that can skyrocket.

I learn to become more patient and still hold no matter what. Yes I am an emotional person and when all are starting to down I think about selling but luckily until now I am still holding it.
That's what most mistakes of being too emotional persons, when you trade you must hold your emotions. Never got panic when price felling down. This was my mistakes selling all of my coins during those times that market went down.

So many wrong things that i have done before. When i was a beginner in crypto currency wayback 5years ago, im not a fan of holding a coin because i dont want to wait a long time to earn money. By that time i sell that altcoin for only 300$ , and if i still hold that coin now, its worth 100k$ +. How ironic!

My main mistake was this: I incorrectly determined the entry and exit points from the coin. First I bought a coin at the moment of growth. Accordingly, or received a small profit or even lost money. Thus, and with the exit point: he sold early and received a small profit.

In my early days of trading i just wanted to make money as fast as possible and i never considered holding a coin for more than a period of 2-3 weeks. And most of then coin i had invested in earlier are at moon right now and are doing very well. I panicked sold some of the coins too i wish i hadn't done that.

Your stretegy is fine for altcoins what about the bitcoin bro. If you sell the bitcoin you see continous dump you will loose all the profit you can make in the upcoming bumps in the marketplace. If you sold the bitcoin 6 hours before you loose the profit around 500 USD and more.
Trading I do not sell the bitcoins but I keep on converting the bitcoins with the localbitcoins site still they have the deposit fees bearing on the customer's head.
In trading, you need to sell and buy. It is not possible to trade without selling out and as far as someone is selling out at a higher price and then planning to buy that amount again, it is okay to go with this flow. But I am against the permanent selling out of bitcoin at the present moment. It is also not the way of this profession. Simply holding on can also give us back some good amount of profit.

My mistake that I couldn't wait and invest almost all my funds in altcoins and didn't leave some free money. If you did like that you became a longterm investor and can't do anything to minimize losses or buy on dip nice coins.
Well i believe people do wrong in the  bitcoin field when they dont have enoughf patience on waiting by the right time to sell or maybe to buy maybe because of the overwelming emotion or excitement that is why people did a wrong decision.I think we really need to controll our emotion in this feild because we really looking for profit here and we know that patience is important on cryptocurrency.
Actually, every of us always get mistake and even a lot of mistakes and it’s so normal. For the first time, almost everything is in trouble  because we don’t have more knowledge, and also experience. You need time to be farmiliar with new environment, if you do with patient you will get profits gradually. I used to be afraid of buying , selling and I thought I am really stupid in making a decision because I always do panic. I have to control my emotion a lot and I think maybe most of us all have the same trouble when we take part in crypto. If you have plan using bitcoin for a long term, patience is an important key for you to pass through many difficulties.

I have had some experience, but above all I have tempered my temper, and learned to observe the market.  Cheesy Cheesy

Same on me I have tried to observe first the market because my experience before was just depending to others information without observation. At this time is good enough to know the process in the market in terms of trading and I also trust myself too maybe that is an instinct.

Learned some of the lessons you did as well of course but the main lesson I took away from my learning was that to always trust yourself. Don't listen to others expectations, don't second guess yourself, and always go with your gut. Biggest lesson I have learned in crypto hands down but probably applies to all markets is that if you don't trust yourself you won't have confidence and whatever skill you had is gonzo.

Common mistake on newbie to trading this is "Buy HIGH Sell Low" but well these things cant really be avoided because we do still lack of knowledge but somehow we would really able to enhance our skill and ideas towards it. Mistakes and regrets can really be felt this is why we do strive to learn even more to avoid those mistakes again and to be profitable on this trading career.

Mistakes always happen, even for average/experts traders... Especially because it's an unpreditable market. The most recent mistake I committed was to buy Bitcoins when it was pricing about $14.000.  Tongue

I shouldn't have done that, but how could I know the price would drop so hard?  Cheesy

The emotion of being panicking that was i did wrong in buy and sell strategy, at that time i saw that bitcoin was fallen down and due to my emotion i quick sold all of it after a week bitcoin was bouncing back again to the higher than as i am expecting price, that was my regret of being emotional.

I like you have a bad experience when you become a new trader. I bought at a bargain price and sold some of it when I made a profit, but I tried to sell my coins and bitcoin decreased my exposure to panic sell and sold at a low price. it can be a mistake and we do not have to repeat and make a lesson.

Panic, I always panic when I see red and if continues to show red in the next few hours more likely I will start selling even at loss. Thats what I do before. Until now is still panic but I try to keep my self calm and do not sell at below buy price. I have seen several times already that when there's a sudden drop of price, don't panic and wait for it to recover.

The mistake that i hear over and over again on this forum is that investors commiserate that their position sizing has been too small on their trades. One story that I heard about was an investor that put in $200 into Bitcoin back when it was at $60 and bought only 3 coins. If that bet had been $3000 it could have been life changing money. I had the same problem with NEO, predicted correctly that it would go up and bought it, but did so with a smallish position size. We all make mistakes and its great if we can learn from them.

I think that's when I start trading just because I do not know what I'm doing and buy a good amount of coin I sell it cheap so that's the one thing I did wrong.

I did because of the wrong thing I did in the field of bitcoin is a mistake that I quickly discount my bitcoin at a cheap price but it's a big deal when I can not recover it but now the bitcoin price is low again I need to get back and start to hold to earn a great deal.

I could list many things on this matter that I didn't wanted to do but did it anyway. First would be transferring coins from one exchange to other using BTC. I should have used doge for the transfer. Then would be panic selling as I used to a lot of it. Taking part in pumps and dumps would be my biggest mistake since it just made me huge losses. I didn't used to hold my coins for long and would sell it quickly for smaller fluctuations which I regret even now. Anyway I am happy I know what to do now as I don't repeat these mistakes again.

Hahaha very thanks for your question, i want to share my story. When I first stepped into the crypto market I thought I had enough knowledge and experience, I won successively success when entering the cypto market was 3 months. By the fourth month I was so greedy that I lost 90% of my fortune one night I lost everything I had. My first lesson was greed.
This is a common story, some people get lucky in their first trades and then think that making money with cryptocurrencies is very easy but suddenly they realize this is not the case when they have their first loss, unfortunately for them that loss most of the time is so huge they lose not only everything they have earned at that point but much more, this is why it is a bad idea to begin your trading career without a very detailed plan of what are you going to do in case you win or lose.

Well the basic mistakes of every newcomer in trading and investing, panic sell. I admit that I always panic sells when I saw the price of bitcoin going down. And I listen to too much FUD here before. Its really a hard lesson and very expensive as well.

But now, I already matured, I'm no longer affected by the waves of FUD around specially when the price is going down. I just laugh at it and I have the mindset to just hold bitcoin for long term.

Also same with you, buying coins at top price and then I was trap and the only way to get out is to sell and suffer a lost.  guess everyone really has to go through baby steps and learn everything from experience.

This kind of discussions are not necessary to the forum in my opinion.

By the way my mistake was keeping the bitcoin when it reached almost $20K,I thought it will go up further but end up with price crashed. If I trade my bitcoins when it hit $20K then I can buy double of that bitcoins now,but unfortunately I missed the chance.

So I learned nothing is stable when it comes to the crypto currency, anything can change is just a overnight.I think it a lesson for life too. Smiley

We all make mistakes, I had the opportunity to buy bitcoin at 500 dollars and I only bought one, while I got huge profits out of that I had more money to invest in bitcoin at the time but I was not convinced yet of the technology, however as long as we get more predictions right than wrong then we will make money in the end, I invested some time ago in a coin, I have some small profits but if I made the right choice I could be joining all of those in the forum that had great success investing in icos.
