Even funnier :

What if it starts out as a minority chain, and takes over the majority chain after 6 months ?

actually the even funnier scenario is this in my opinion:
BIP148 breaks away as a minority chain and start being proud of having SegWit and be good but the majority chain activates SegWit like it was supposed to, with a high hashrate and with logical speed, possibly with some differences that can be called compromise :|

Still funnier: BIP148 breaks away, and now on the legacy chain, some decide to protect themselves from being overtaken with a hard fork, but one cannot find an agreement of that, so some split off with the Barry agreement (indeed activating segwit in doing so) ; others go to bigger blocks, some using BU, and some using Classic ; and finally some keep running bitcoin as it originally was.

The first page on most exchanges list the different flavours of bitcoin : it is such a mess that we ask Trump to decide in the end  Grin

Two polls in one. you get 2 votes

Poll_1: What are we going to call Bip148 if it breaks away from the network Aug_1st and is a minority chain with little support? (10-20%)

Poll_2: How do we go about naming the Bip148 coin/network?

Even if Bip148 is successful It most lilky won't be called bitcoin so this raises many questions.  How do we name it? Who gets to name it? What metrics should be used. Will Bip148 supporters even be welcome on these forums after Aug_1?

Will Bitcoin talk support the Bip148 fork if it splits off and dose it's own thing or will bip148 be pushed into the Alt-coin containment section of this forum?

What will the Core dev team do?
