Unfortunately, you can never be sure whether the project is legit until some time. That's why you can simply wait out till the coin/token gets listed on exchanges and them invest if you believe in its success. Another thing you can do is participation in airdrops. People say this project has one. If you are participating then you don't need to invest any of your money, transfer any of it or give your passwords etc. This way you still can be scammed in the sense that you might not get the promised coins, but at least you are not losing any of them.

As for the project itself, it includes the coin, the wallet and even the exchange. If they really manage to make this all perform on a decent level, this could be a success story.
