A dubious proposal to use a libra coin for banking services, which has not yet completed the regulation of this coin. Of course, a digital currency will be useful for safe and fast transactions, but why then does the minister not offer banks to initiate the creation of a stable coin inside the country?

If the initiative is organized by large companies and private banks, then it is possible that a transition to digital currencies will be made. But the central bank will definitely not make such hasty decisions.

Do not rule out government regulation. The banking sector notes the benefits of decentralization, and I know that many countries are creating their own national cryptocurrencies. But most often, the initiative comes from countries in Africa, South America, where the monetary system is not very stable

Such initiatives often come either from countries where the economic situation is difficult or from the progressive East, which are in pursuit of innovation. The conservative European public needs time to prepare. Taklimakan platforms can help with the study of cryptocurrencies and obtaining a new financial education. After all, crypto is called the money of millennials, and an information policy needs to be pursued to show the government and society all the possibilities of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

I am not a big fan of centralized cryptocurrencies of which Libra is one. There is a row between the US government and Libra ( Why Facebook's libra cryptocurrency is in trouble  ) and I don't care whether Libra wins this row or not.
It will be just another controlled digital currency and has no resemblance to real cryptocurrency.
For everyone in crypto, Libra is really not a character that can make us appreciate when fundamentally, it cannot be called an official crypto, the rules and regulations from the authorities have made it more like a stock, instead of a traditional crypto. But I am wondering why we are not on the benefit side to consider libra because the idea of libra is also the beginning of a new form of investment on a global scale, we can see how successful bitcoin has been for so many years, why don't we give libra a chance?

I think Facebook takes this job seriously. But the world is not ready for this change. The number of users registered to Facebook is more than the number of customers in banks. In a moment, Facebook will be the biggest money center in the world. This is terrible for those who run the economy.

I believe Libra will bring the world together into the cryptocurrency space with a massive cryptocurrency adoption like theres never been before, if it ever successfully launches. Libra is a centralized platform and cryptocurrency, but it stands to serve for a greater purpose. Facebook is the world's most popular social platform and together with their partnerships with Occulus Rift, WhatsApp, and Instagram gives them a far reach around the globe.
Cryptocurrency adoption has been picking up for a few years, but still nothing exponential. Libra could potentially be that exponential drive that could increase adoption rapidly.

After Brexit, the UK offers more innovative solutions. But they can be understood. The dollar is not an ideal currency, especially in the current financial condition of the American market. But cryptocurrencies are easily exchangeable and if you withdraw your stable coin, it doesn’t take so long for it to become more relevant even than fiat.

Still, I don't want to cooperate and really not interested in Libra at all as I know that they are just using the advantage of crypto and their name for them to attract more users, but as of the moment, they are having time and struggling how they are going to do this and how they are going to launch as it has been said that there's a lot of their team back out with them.

Libra has big obstacle; from libra association, from government, regulations.
I think it would be hard for libra. moreover, bad experince in facebook about its security
most people is doubt with it. so, i dont think it would be big in the future

the good thing is, we know that many companies joined in cryptocurrency
it can make people know how good cryptocurrency is.

Facebook now has no choice but to look for lobbyists. If their documents were not well prepared to answer all disputes arising. But I also do not understand why they should answer to US senators when they intend to launch a company in Switzerland, which looks at them with a positive. there is no logic in this

libra is a stable coin like USDT, the idea of libra might want to rule the world in terms of payment I think libra will compete with us dollar. but in recent months the news of Libra has gotten worse and many of their partners left Libra because many countries do not support the presence of Libra.
I think that Facebook actually went out of boundary by trying to create a project that will be used as global currency when they know that the coin will be centralized and can easily be influenced unlike bitcoin that is decentralized and cannot be influenced by anyone. This is exactly one of the disadvantages of decentralization that we are seeing here now.

The best that Facebook would have actually done is just to limit the usage of their coin to Facebook advertisement platform where their business clients can just purchase the coin to make payment for their ad when it is about to start or ended, this project would have been very successful if they had done that, but with this global idea, countries will definitely not accept it because they will not want to leave the affairs of their country into the hands of an external factor.

Facebook giving an alternative to traditional payment system isn't really something trustworthy. Facebook has been involved in privacy crimes. Now involving it into something this sensitive as money and payments that too on centralised blockchain isnt what this world wants and needs. Blochain indeed makes money transfer real time and cheap. But I wouldn't support a centralised system as libra for that. It is giving way too much power in the hands of Facebook

The idea itself only repeats the standard monetary system only on a large scale. Today we have banks and the money they issue. The libra is a bank inside the coin itself.
Everyone is afraid of verification, but this is not necessary if you are not going to use the libra. There are many other alternatives.
But I like the idea of Libra because it will give a greater distribution of crypto currencies.

Amazing things are happening now. The regulators turned to face Libra as opposed to TON. The libra already has people in the Senate who support her. G7 spoke positively about stable coins, which was not the case before. At the same time, they declare the full regulation that Libra provides.

Today, this topic is very popular in various communities. After a very noticeable exit of large investors from this project, we must think. Most recently, the SEC disapproved of Pavel Durov's cryptocurrency project. The same is likely to happen with Libra. Regulators are not prepared to allow private companies to intervene in the huge global financial sector because of the possibility of losing control over it. I think Libra should accept the SEC's terms and implement its cryptocurrency as quickly as possible. This industry needs urgent popularization

I noticed that many members here are not happy with Libra. Starting from the centralization of Libra, nothing is interesting, the same idea as the payment system, partners who leave, etc.
I am not very enthusiastic about hearing Facebook issue Libra as its crypto payment. Moreover, they must submit to the SEC. But if you look ahead according to the funds they have from the benefits of Facebook, Libra could be launched even without PayPal, eBay, VISA, etc.

Perhaps Visa and PayPal were asked to move away from Libra because they understand what impact this product will have. With Telegram the same situation but perhaps this is a complicated game of the gods who love to control everything so much.

they moved away from the Libra because their legal affairs are not clean and the government can easily destroy even such large campaigns if they prevent the government from fulfilling its plans. they are just afraid to be with libra

Nothing special with Libra, they are just a stable coin, not like Bitcoin and Ethereum with decentralized, Facebook Libra become centralized. I think, Libra very hard to get mass adoption, because authorithy rejected Libra. If you read on news yesterday, Their partner such as Visa, PayPal and more already left from this project. No trust, no community it's mean no buyers for Libra.

If you believe the words of David Marcus, the projects that left Libra do not have to be present at all of the launch itself. They can easily join later, because in order to use Libra in their services, almost nothing is needed. Those projects that are now included in Libra and which will be included in it in the near future, according to Marcus, will be network validators.

The airdrop was a fake one.
It was made to scam people using the hype that is happening all over the crypto sphere.
It just happens and it is not new anymore.

Regarding the pull out though. It was done to keep safe this legitimate companies.
If they insist to support Libra they might close down this companies specially when it is money related.
I did not support the facebook coin (Libra) but the Libra airdrop was launched by crypto scammer, not by the Libra team and should be easy to spot out by every cryptoneir who's knowledgeable and not greed.
Concern the OP question, Libra coin is just like other shit altcoin and with the thing said about the coin by Senior analyst, more companies that support the project will definitely back off.

Before posting same topics such as these and a repeated radio-like type of guy talking about Libra, you should try first looking at topics the same as this one.

Anyway, Facebook Libra is nothing special. Facebook is more on focusing in creating a private coin which is centralized. And right now, they are facing a lot of problems with their project. Not to mention, big names to back this projects backs out because of a lot of problems with SEC.

They are givingg Mark Zuckerberg a chance to dominate the financial industry.
If this goes on then he will be a part of the manipulators of the world which we all dont want to since our privacy can also be in danger.
Why? Facebook. A lot of people are using that application for ease in communicating with their love ones.
It cannot be stopped and it is still growing everyday.

Now, he have your money and also your information. What do you think is next?

So what do you suggest? Prohibit the creation of Libra, and then ban all cryptocurrencies?
Libra will be created and will be a centralized coin, just like Ripple. It depends on each of us individually whether we want to use it or not. Personally, I also think that this project will bring more bad than good, but certainly the idea of blocking it is even worse.

The name & brand of Zuckerberg has become synonymous with data breaches and gross negligence of privacy of customers (and sociopathic tendencies Smiley ), 2 issues that are taken very seriously in the crypto space, so it's extremely unlikely for Libra to gain any traction amongst crypto enthusiasts.

Now that mainstream also seems to be gradually and decisively turning against Libra, chance are increasing for it to be a total failure before it even launches...

Recently there is some companies who decided to leave the association such as visa, paypal, and mastercard. I guess their decision to leave the corporation just because they will find a stalemate.

Yeah, it is not cryptocurrency because the libra coin will backed by some fiat currency and it is not decentralized. We can see what will happen after Mark Zukemberg meet the government of US.

I've been hearing a lot lately that a lot of company partnership of Libra are already pulling out. Well I don't blame them, Libra ain't doing good enough compare on what's expected. Libra came from a famous company that's why it gained a lot of attention at first but now, it's not even achieving much noise in the market. Mark should just focus on facebook. Facebook is very famous but not all users even gave their attention on Libra at all.
their partnerships stopped because major campaigns are afraid of government sanctions. I am sure that if Libra can give to the state what it wants - all these campaigns will come back again and will ask Facebook to restore partnership

It is basically the control of money to a tech company, much like what the central bank does with fiats- Tech company and not the people. Unlike bitcoin where the power lies with the people. That is why Libra is facing so much legal hurdle to over come, losing so much of their partners. It does not in a good way represent a decentralization or 'trustless' money

Libra is a stable coin, many people regret it, because there isn't much that can be done in investing with it. But I see from the other side. Mass adoption of cryptocurrency for something real, especially those involving large communities like Facebook. With the legality and support of official and independent associations, this makes cryptocurrency one step closer. I came to think that there have been obstacles that have been deliberately carried out in order to maintain the existence of an existing "body". If this is truly realized, there will be changes that are more real and legal than cryptocurrency.

Now the bigger question is that if Libra can take off in 2020! I guess no! It is facing a lot of regulatory challenges already and many popular brands are pulling away their association from Libra. I will be surprised if they can roll out this project in another 5 years!

So Libra will not be launched in 2020 then what about some articles about preaching Libra, because many say after coming Libra the development of cryptocurrency will increase, there is also a mention that the coming of Libra will bring chaos in the market, so which is more correct.
I don't think Libra will create market chaos. According to many sources, Libra is a stable currency, so Libra will compete with stable currencies like USDT instead of Bitcoin or ETH. Therefore it will not create chaos.

Don't be too sure about it.... You don't just expect success like that. This is the same thing I said in one of my previous topics about bitcoin. You can't just be thinking of bitcoin increasing ASAP; also think of it reducing and crashing too. Same case here... Don't be too sure about the success of Libra. While seeing the success, remember that there's no great success without great challenges. In other words, Libra "could" create a lot more than chaos.

What's your take on Facebook Libra?

from the first day that the news about Libra hit the media i said that it is a centralized shitcoin with no good future compared to decentralized cryptocurrencies specifically bitcoin. specially since in early days people kept comparing the two together although they have nothing in common.

they started big with a lot of big names like Mastercard, Paypal, Visa,... but now that all of them are dumping the partnership and going out the failure of Libra is pretty much guaranteed.

It looks that way. But I think Mark and the rest of the big companies that decided to stick it out with him and the grand project will not quit too easily. They will certainly postpone the launching. That is something that can be seen clearly since we are now at the end part of the year and their launching is supposed to be done in the first half of 2020. But there must still be a plan B. They might try to relaunch this in the coming months or years.

It's been a while I heard about Libra. I doubted my friend when I heard him say that Facebook (or should I say Zuckerberg) owns Libra. After then, I also say an airdrop (I don't know if it was scam or the real Libra coin).

Just a few hours ago, I was searching for an account on twitter when I saw a tweet which says that 2 senators had ask Visa and PayPal to pull away from Libra. Except that, there have been a lot of warnings about Libra coin. To be honest here, thinking of the mass population of Facebook users (over 2.3 billion Facebook users), I'm afraid that Facebook Libra coin would cause a big havoc.
Looking at one of the pictures I found on twitter, it's obvious that a lot of companies are pulling out already.

What's your take on Facebook Libra?

I am not surprised, Facebook has a habit of not listening to the authorities. While I would usually welcome that, its defiance is not a good thing. Facebook is after the profit for itself. It doesn't want to help people, and it doesn't follow the rules. Mark managed to pull through some tight spots in the past, but it needs either the community support or the authorities backing him up, and he's got neither. No, I don't expect much from Libra, especially since it is barely a cryptocurrency at all, and it is a heavily centralized stablecoin.

Libra is far from the world of cryptocurrency and can not be considered as a coin. Its most important feature was the agreement with most big companies otherwise, it is not very difficult to find reliable stable coins in the market. However, the deterioration of some of these agreements reduces expectations. For example, if facebook had not explained any of these before, even one of this agreements would have affected it well.

Sharing your sentiments regarding with this, I don't feel that  the concept of this coin is to bring help to crypto industry. It seems that Mark is aiming for wider control over financial system. There's no need to change the real intentions of this market, having freedom with financial institutions and enjoy being anonymous in some form. With libra's existence and being embrace conflict will emerge, decentralization will change up if more will support the concept of this  project..

Not all the news are telling you everything. You can see how big the foundation is compare to those who quit being their partner. You might not be seeing developments to this Libra, it will probably forgotten for months until all these hype die down before they'd suddenly be approved. Since their coin is just pegged to fiat, why do you think some companies like bitfinex are allowed to create like tether?

I'm not thinking highly of Libra knowing that this wouldn't really hit the markets that big unlike what XRP did despite being a centralized coin. True that Facebook Inc. has a huge budget when it comes to such but one can't simply deny the fact that Facebook has also included itself well enough on some of the largest data breaches and scandals in the world which makes them somewhat untrustworthy on these sorts of things. If a different company/entity manages Libra, then there would still be a glimmer of hope for a successful launch, but Facebook Inc.? I don't think so.

I don't think those companies pulling out makes any great sense. The Libra foundation has decided to meet to redefine the foundations and it also proves it's far from dead.

I would like to see a similar project, but not under the control of Zuckerberg. I like the principle of work and the idea of Libra, but I do not like the one who is behind this project.
It technically doesn't matter who is behind what---key point is that whatever they deliver works as specified, and as long as that is the case, people will definitely use it. Not ever has there been such a large entity behind a project like this.

I'm more interested in how they could combat PayPal and other similar financial products.... if Libra can offer a looser payment environment, that is already a massive game changer and selling point.

People are sick and tired of PayPal, but thus far there hasn't really been much of a competitor to take over their market share, so I really hope that Libra can do that. I'm sure they can get something done to offer buyers protection too.

Not just the airdrops, I have seen some dubious exchanges already selling some Libra coins...I don't think those are the real coins as the token sale has not started yet due to strong opposition from different sides of the world. Just yesterday or the other day, Libra held the signing of all the remaining members (after those who left already) of the Libra Association, the centralized governing body of the coin but Libra itself is facing some uncertainties as some countries are shunning their doors to this stablecoin.

In my view, it seems that the people of Libra are not giving up and they would love to see the project take off soon. Let us see how government regulators are gonna take this news so there is a big probability of a big showdown here...whoever blinks first will lose. I am sure that Mark Zuckerberg and his men must be prepared for a long battle ahead to make sure that Libra can get past the many labor pains.

Is there a bright future waiting for Libra? Only time can tell. I prefer to just watch and enjoy the sparkling show.

Libra is centralised, so have nothing much to do with real cryptocurrency. Same like Ripple can be only tool for speculators.
For me it can bring as much damage as good things. Time will show.

Libra continues to bleed. Already 7 major companies have left Libra. I hope Vodafone and coinbase also sober up from the project closely. Because these two, especially Coinbase, are a very important company.

I don't understand why Coinbase supports Libra. It's a fact that Facebook steals and markets user data. But Coinbase, knowing this, Partners with Libra.

That's why I'm not using Coinbase anymore. Because Coinbase supports a con man, and I'm not going to support that.

I think that the Libra project will start anyway. Huge funds are behind it, as well as a team of the best lawyers who will lobby for the interests of the project.

It will definitely start but there's a risk. If the Libra project succeeds and works out fine, it'll bring a very strong positive effect. But then, same thing is applicable if it fails.

It's been a while I heard about Libra. I doubted my friend when I heard him say that Facebook (or should I say Zuckerberg) owns Libra. After then, I also say an airdrop (I don't know if it was scam or the real Libra coin).
That airdrop might be a scam. AFAIK, there's no airdrop for this project and why would a stable coin will choose to airdrop? they won't give free money even it's for their marketing. I just really doubt it and so don't be fooled by those Libra project imitations that are circulating on the internet.

Looking at one of the pictures I found on twitter, https://i.ibb.co/WH65rN8/IMG-20191015-003400.jpg it's obvious that a lot of companies are pulling out already.
As you can see that Booking Holdings was crossed out. Actually, it's a recent news that Booking Holdings withdraws attention to the project.

I just think if they get authority from government, they will try control digital economy as much as possible. They can control the amount of balance with Libra!
There is maybe not only affect to cryptocurrency but also with fiat, where we still trust banknotes for transactions.
But because there is many company left from project, there is a chance a plan to make Libra is cancelled.

But it's just another stable coin.

Actually with so many big names and money behind it, it could/should have been the stable coin everybody would (have to) use, the stable coin accepted everywhere.

It's something no stable coin managed to do - actually they didn't pose any danger to USDT reign.
Libra would have dethroned USDT easily.

It is about an huge amount of power in the hands of Zuckenberg, so maybe it's for the best that the project may perish.

Basically, nothing special on libra coin but it's just another stable coin that pegged with fiat to be used on the various platforms that owned by facebook but the problem is when libra is implementing crypto backed fiatcurrency and that means libra is having all of the control over its own pegged crypto to the fiat like tether company.
Some have already accused libra if it's a lot of potential to disrupt the economic system that already implemented by the bankers and regulators.
But again, nothing special on libra and when the name of libra launched by a non global company like facebook and this will not be a trending topic.

The name of facebook creates so many hype to the libra.
But it's just another stable coin. Maybe that will be giving the different result when libra is creating a new payment system that not used crypto. We have known so many countries are also saying crypto is disrupting the traditional economic system too.

First thing you need to understand that Libra is not a crypto. Even though it is planned to run on a blockchain but it is not made to be truly decentralized. It will always be controlled by Facebook and every single transaction will be reported to the appropriate authorities just the way banks do.

What's your take on Facebook Libra?

So many companies are pulling out, there could be more announcing their pull out if you are a huge company you will always check your option if you need Libra Coin or Libra Coin needs you or it's a win-win situation between the two-party, it looks these conpanies see things differently, honestly I'm curious on the real outcome when Facebook becomes a player in the industry, we really have to see if they can really make havoc, because they are under heavy regulation and scrutinize,

Op, you'll find lots of threads about Libra in the altcoin section and probably others as well.  I never saw that graphic you posted, tho, and did not realize that many companies had latched themselves onto it.

The ones that dropped out probably know Libra will never pass regulatory muster and they see it as a dead in the water project.  I can't see any other reason why they would be dropping out so soon.

And as masulum points out, Libra is supposed to be a stable coin and there are already a few of those around and they're not much use to people who want to profit from crypto.  Facebook users may well love it if it does get released, but I'd say the average member of bitcointalk won't find Libra all that interesting and probably won't own it.  I sure as hell wouldn't.

hmph..
