what i like from xapo is no fee transaction and i don't like xapo because need real address because Bitcoin was built for and anonymity

if you register xapo you must confirm it with number phone ? what do you think about "anonymity " ?

Bitcoin was never built for anonynity, the chain is open to see for everyone, the chain was built for decentralisation of transfer, cutting out the middle man(the banks)

What Xapo does is running a bank again, you do not have control over your wallet and they are the middle man, the coins you have stored are not real coins, they can 'print' new coins and only get in trouble if all xapo wallets will be drained at once, which will never happen. It will go wrong, just a matter of time.

Xapo is nice for getting your faucet payment accumulated, it has a high fee for sending outside xapo wallets.

They did in the past but they no longer charge a fee for sending coins to an 'outside' wallet.

Nice to know things have changed Smiley

Xapo is nice for getting your faucet payment accumulated, it has a high fee for sending outside xapo wallets. Another downside is that you do not really have control over your bitcoin, who says they actually keep your bitcoin in your wallet? It is a bank all over again.

The debitcard is a nice one too, but I think the fees are a bit high. But the fact you can pay with it anywhere they accept credit/debitcards is a big plus for using xapo. But then again, I would only use it when needed, transferring the requested amount of Bitcoin to my xapo wallet and pay with the card.

You can use xapo to consolidate dust from other wallets by transfering back and forth, but it will cost some fee.

Use Xapo as an extra, small change wallet, not as your main wallets, any other wallet you control the keys is better, be it blockchain, paper or hardware.

I thought Xapo covers fees of transferring funds to an outside wallet?

Xapo.com is good.

Their faucet - see my faucet link in my profile - has great payouts but at least once a week doesn't have enough money in their wallet to payout...it's f*cking annoying. Why can't they have some dust available when one want some dust!?!?

Xapo has no faucet, they only offer a wallet service. Complain to the owner of the faucet if its out of funds. It has nothing to do with Xapo.
it's funny, I just know that xapo is the faucet.
perhaps because many payments through wobsite xapo faucet so that a misunderstanding

One good thing about Xapo is the way they use addresses. It adds a layer of privacy you do not get with other wallets.

I'm not a big fan of online wallets but I often make use of my Xapo wallet to receive funds. When its send out to my Trezor from there there is no link to follow as Xapo use different addresses to send funds than the ones on which the funds came in.

Just check the next time you receive and send funds from Xapo. As said, this adds in an extra layer of privacy to the user as its near impossible to track your wallet balance.

Not sure if I followed this right. Are you saying it's a lot like how casinos work, where they just merge everything into larger wallets and past the original deposit, you have no idea what any specific account holds?

since i has very low experience with xapo wallet I don't think all my points are correct but i will advice you to choice between mycelium wallet and blockchain wallet if you are using android..but in the case of destop their are many options but I will recomment bitcoin core or if you want to install a light wallet then electrum is just fine or armory(haven't tryed this till now)

iam a beginner and i don't know if xapo.com is good one

I have used it for some time. Works well, although the verification steps to register and to operate are quite annoying, one would to prefer to login more quickly to the wallet.

It has a great advantage in which xapo faucets pay you instantly to your wallet, and I think it is also the same when you received transfers from other xapo users.

They're legit but before they activate your wallet you need to send more documents.

the document is needed if you want to have a debit card
if you not interesting use debit card you can sign up easy only verification phone

Ahh, got you. At the moment I'm not dealing with the debit card. With its fees, it's just more efficient to convert to cash -> use a real debit card if that's what people need.

i agree it Smiley

are u use Bit-X debit card ( your signature)

I'm not. They also have decently high fees. I just can't justify $2.50 per transaction (IIRC they're 0.01 BTC) when I can get transactions for free from my bank. Not to mention most of my debits are small anyways, so the fee would be a significant part of that.

Documents? All I had to do was go through a 1-minute verification. Quick and painless. And if it's the difference between a wallet that stays up and one that crashes and burns (read: you lose everything), it's an obvious choice to me.

if you want my opinion, i don't like them. they seem to be legit but my problem is not with their legitimacy.
my problem is that you don't have access to your private keys so in any case that they decide to run away or even block your account , all your bitcoins will be lost forever in their hands.

so in final they act like a bitcoin-bank or something similar? if u don't own the private key, you don't own bitcoins

agreed with you
this is a third party like a bank but we are not required to pay an administration fee and transaction fee

some people are not concerned about the confidentiality of personal information and he used XAPO, COINBASE

was a good choice

you own the bitcoin but you have to rely on them (a third party) to be able to use your bitcoins. which means you don't have complete control that you can have when using for example bitcoin-core.

I am using Xapo due the link from some faucets which send Satoshi directly there. I do not keep too much there as others recommend as well. So far everything wetn well including withdrawn and at no fees.

Me too. Most of my active faucets referrals are active in XAPO faucets. Even XAPO shuts down only a dust of satoshis will be taken. Well overall , I see XAPO as legit "but" of course do not keep big amount of bitcoin in any online wallet even in the most recommended online wallet , Blockchain.

In my opinion, online wallets are just for newbies and only for very, very small amounts. When using an online wallet, you are pretty much kissing good bye the statement use Bitcoin in order to be your own bank.

You are trusting your private keys to some servers out there and this makes no sense to me especially since there are so many alternatives out there wallet wise, especially lite wallets that are easily secured.

I used XAPO because of faucet purposes. Majority of my referrals commission came from XAPO faucets. That is the only used of my XAPO. And you don't need to give all your identity. Just activate the Send and Receive then you are good to go. I want their free transaction so I can transfer all my balance their to my btc wallet anytime without worrying the fees.

P.S : Don't drink too much coffee.

If its comparing faucets and referral commissions... I rather just go with whats been already old and established.

Xapo hasnt been around long enough like freebitco.in but this is just my personal preference.

too much validation required, so I never bothered to try their services

Yes,this is so true because you will need to add pass and pin everytime and this is sucks

The validation required is meant to serve as a safety measure for YOUR bitcoin funds! It's hilarious how people want the convenience that Xapo offers but none of the security and then these people will start a thread on this forum talking about how their bitcoin were lost or stolen from their laptop.

It also represents a lack of knowledge of how banking businesses are run. A banking business can't be expected to develop a reputation as sophisticated, secure, reputable if they don't have specific security in place to protect their customers assets.

If you don't want the security validation you should keep your bitcoin in an offline or paper wallet...it's not a criticism to Xapo!

They're bankrolled by investors, though, so I would think that if they closed, they would return funds (allow some way of withdrawing). I don't see any real risk there. Them running with funds, especially with a court case in procession, would destroy their lives.

Running away with money is not the only issue here. Why do we suggest Xapo to this newbie user when there are other good online Bitcoin wallets?

You cannot use most of the services of Xapo if you dont reveal your personal identity! This is not good! Bitcoin was built for and anonymity! And clearly you are risking both Privacy and Anonymity with Xapo! Switch to Multibit or Electrum if you need a wallet..or blockchain if you need an online wallet.. Blockchain might not be very secure but atleast it doesnt ask who you are and where do you live Smiley

LifeLock Sues Xapo Executives Over Bitcoin Wallet: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/20695/lifelock-sues-xapo-executives-bitcoin-wallet-intellectual-property/

yep, that's exactly the reason why I'm not using XAPO at the moment. I like their easy wallet (as a hot wallet), but their future is very open in my opinion.

They're bankrolled by investors, though, so I would think that if they closed, they would return funds (allow some way of withdrawing). I don't see any real risk there. Them running with funds, especially with a court case in procession, would destroy their lives.

There is too much validation involved with XAPO.  I use electrum instead.

I don't like xapo wallet. I use it because some faucets pay directly to this wallet. But I don't use it for my main bitcoin jobs.

I stopped using it when it asked for my ID and other personal information like that. Wasn't willing to give that when there are many other alternatives that don't ask for it your privacy is very low compared to other wallet like blockchain.info

Always research and compare...

There's Xapo, Bit-X, CCEDK, and probably a few others.

Verification is required to get higher limits but as a simple bitcoin debit card it's the easiest tool to purchase with your bitcoins, just like a credit card...

they are legit, heavily invested, with nice looking website..but:

I came to bitcoin, because I want to be the one, who holds all accesses to my "money", without any 3rd party institution, another registration or mails. For me it is "better" web-wallet with all possible cons. I simply don't see any reason to use such service, if there is any, feel free to educate me here:)

What I do is use a multi-pronged setup:

I use important coins = cold wallet
Medium-term = Coinbase
Short-term = Xapo, Circle

This allows for easier access, while using each of the services like they were designed.

Xapo is a trustworthy payment processor but the confirmation time taken is more than blockchain. The only good thing for me is that it does not charge any fee as compared to blockchain. It requires phone verification which makes it more reliable compared to blockchain as there is a 2FA authentication method to stop any fraudulent transactions.

xapo is easy to use lightweight and secure what more could you need from a wallet lol

ownership. by using such service you simply believe to somebody else, to some person or persons, which you never met before and you don't even know his name. you believe in country, where servers are located and to some security team which is protecting them. well...is better to believe yourself than others in money questions. At least based on my experience..

Xapo is a web-based wallet system, so alls you need to access it is a web browser and Internet connection. Xapo is known for having reasonably advanced privacy and security features, especially for a web-based wallet. The company supports payments through a debit card system, making it easy to spend your Bitcoins. The app is also friendly for newbies, so if you’re new to Bitcoin, give Xapo a close look.

Pros: Xapo debit card system allows you to use Bitcoin ATMs and spend at merchants across the world.

Cons: Web-based wallets face extra security threats, and you won’t be able to manage your Bitcoins without a Internet connection.

I'm sure they are legit, but unless you verify your identity, you can't use most of their services.
But, be careful online wallet more vulnerable than offline wallet

But, if you need more privacy or can't trust them. You better use other wallet such as Electrum or Mycelium

iam a beginner and i don't know if xapo.com is good one

It seems legit, but to activate a wallet you need to send them some documents, KYC....

If you only want to send and receive Bitcoins, you don't need to send anything. If somebody asks you to send any documents to store just Bitcoins, then it is definitely not a good wallet.

Use that site for quick online transactions with small BTC. Don't hold your BTC there for a long time. Online wallet services are being notorious for their scam/fake hack/runaways. One example is inputs.io, people lost a lot of BTC there. You need to control your own private keys for bigger amounts.

there's a huge lawsuit going on against them at the moment. better google it before you decide to use their service for more than dust...

It's not as bad as you think. Lemon is suing Xapo because the founders of Xapo were Lemon employees at the time and allegedly developed Xapo with (or based on a) Lemon project, with Lemon resources, on Lemon's dim (i.e., the guys were getting paid by Lemon at the time).

I bet this gets settled out of court.

Anyway, this reminds me of a transaction I need to make...gotta go!

I think xapo is good only for faucet payouts, but not for daily spends. Xapo requires too much of our information (phone, name, city). The best bitcoin client is always the Bitcoin Core, however if you don't have enough disk space, or you need to use your coins on phone, you could use web wallet (like blockchain.info), mobile lightweight wallets (MyCelium, the original Bitcoin wallet for Android), or desktop lightweight clients (like Electrum, but I'm not sure since I haven't used it). Anyway, don't store big on xapo, and any wallets which store your private key (encrypted or not) on a centralized server.

i suggest you to stay away from xapo, they required more information about you. you can try using blockchain.info wallet (better than xapo) as you will have the control to your private keys too

Xapo is good enough ( legit  i mean ), provide dynamic multi signature address,

Yes exactly, Until Now they are Legit, They are Provide Credit card service Also, and also many faucets are using their Service. But as it said above that they need many Personal detail, which effect the BTC anonymity. Which is one of the Drawback of this site, other wise they are seems legit, with Professional Designing

I think they are not provide any credit card, but debit card. Smiley

They are legit but have the higher fees...
and Yes they do provide a debit card, not a credit card. It's a chargeable card I believe.
