Some shitcoin tried this and failed if I'm not mistaken. Blitz? Blitzcoin? Either way it didn't work out and this will basically just be a fun version of a faucet.

I think it needs to be worked out a lot. Just 5 cents for workout is not sufficient money plus there will be frustrating situation when you will not reach the minimum cash out level soon enough. So your workout is all gone. Lol. Well seriously these guys either need to increase the pay scale or they need to relaunch the project with some more exciting stuff in it. Concept is very good no doubt but they have ran into non profit organization which they might not have thought before it's launch.

Are you seriously complaining because you wouldn't earn "enough" for doing something that benefits YOU to begin with? Most people I know work out for exactly $0.00. And most of those even PAY to work out in gyms. $0.01 would be more than $0.00. Can't believe people are actually bothered by this.

This year however, the crown for digital currency novelty could go to a development studio based in Austin, Texas for its FitCoin app. While most other cryptocurrencies require some sort of ‘mining’ to generate the currency, FitCoin relies on fitness tracking.
Hey will they also give me a crown if I were jumping some pussies while attaching shitcoin app to my body? because as you know jumping pussies requires a lot of stamina and muscle power. facking lol, crown, you're very lucky if you get a plastic stick for working out you noob.

Really good in theory, but I think it'll be bad in execution.

During the app demonstration, developer Grant Nicol tried the workout and raised his heart rate to 115 beats per minute. With roughly 3 minutes and 40 seconds into the workout, he was able to generate 5 cents in equivalent bitcoin payments.

I mean we should all be working out regardless of financial incentive, but have you seen the people it's targeted at?!!

Do you honestly think these guys are going to sustain 115 BPM heart rate for 4 minutes to generate $0.05 of Bitcoin?  They'd rather go to faucets for 24 hours to achieve that!   Grin
Knowing their level of fitness, standing up would probably result in at least 200 BPM.

The only problem is that if they live in a country without free healthcare, the six-week recovery from doing that might cost more than the 0.00001 BTC that they received, which is unspendable from the fees anyway basically.

Stereotypes, we all love them. Wink All bitcoiners are fat nerds, right?

I actually like the idea because as Bitcoin becomes more popular the companies will target the general population, not only computer enthusiasts.

i can just imagine it now.. on release 99% of bitcoin enthusiasts buy the devices. not due to health concerns but due to the desire to treat the device as a miner..

step 1. attach headphone earbud to the device and plug the audio jack end of headphone into a PC start playing a loop of a basic low bpm drum sound
bumbum----bumbum----bumbum

next slowly increase the bpm on the computer the headphones are plugged into
bumbum----bumbum----bumbum
bumbum---bumbum---bumbum
bumbum--bumbum--bumbum
bumbum-bumbum-bumbum

now you have a 'heartbeat' miner/faucet raider style system, grabbing funds without doing any physical work.

after all in a community of people where raiding faucets, and finding new ways to grab funds via a PC, do you really think that they would think exercise was the only use of the device

Think of it the other way.

Bitcoin people are unhealthy and is always in front of the computer right?
So, forget bout incentive and think about health.  Wink

You are right but I think a lot of people think more about "money" than "health". So if there isn't an incentive no one (or only a little group of person) will play for gain some of "health".

PS: fantastic phrase 'he was able to generate 5 cents in equivalent bitcoin payments.'

I think it is a cool idea. It would certainly provide extra incentive to workout. If they can get funding through licensing agreements etc. it would be one of the more creative bitcoin apps.

I think it is a really interesting idea but I would like to know if it can be faked on some way.
However it keeps being an altcoin and with bitcoin in the world, I think it is enough.

Exercise and earn?
http://bitforum.info/t/workout-and-get-paid-with-bitcoin-through-fitcoin-app/536

For me its the best app ever. You know, bitcoin fans face the computer a lot, maybe with Fitcoin it encourage them to exercise more.
Might be funny, but I think it would work.

I will try it maybe if it will be available for android.

Really interesting, but I don't know if it is all 100% sustainable. As I read in the yahoo article:

"When you sync your band to the Fitcoin app and start your workout, it’ll automatically begin recording the length of your activity and the level of your heart rate. The algorithm within the app then triangulates those stats to determine how much energy you’re expending, and ultimately, how much that’s worth in Bitcoin."

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/this-app-pays-you-in-bitcoin-based-on-the-113689371979.html

I didn't try the app, but I think it is a very "successful" applied idea.
