B-money was an early proposal created by Wei Dai for an "anonymous, distributed electronic cash system". Satoshi Nakamoto referenced b-money when creating Bitcoin. In his essay, published on the cypherpunks mailing-list in November 1998, Dai proposed two protocols. The first protocol is impractical as it requires a broadcast channel that is unjammable as well being synchronous.so basically its stands for bitcoins

I guess if the protocol is based on a broadcast model, it would be the most logical assumption to say B = Broadcast. I am sure if Satoshi were aware of
b-money, he would most definitely based his name for his technology on something similar. I am trying to get more information on b-money, if
someone could possibly post their links.  Huh

i couldnt find more about this but if you do it, ill sent you 1 USD in BTC  Smiley

here is a cool answer from Wei Dai:

Q: If you know what you know today, would you have patented bmoney? Do you think bitcoin inventers would have done the same?

Wei Dai:

No, because along with a number of other reasons not to patent it, the whole point of b-money was to have a money system that governments can't control or shut down by force, so how would I be able to enforce the patent? I don't think Satoshi would have patented his ideas either, because I think he is not motivated mainly to personally make money, but to change the world and to solve an interesting technical problem. Otherwise he would have sold at least some of his mined Bitcoins in order to spend or to diversify into other investments.

After reading this thread, I tried to search in google for about 10 mins to find out if B has any meaning . But could not find any information.
I think B stands for nothing. It the whole word BitCoin.

You piqued my interest, so I found this: http://web.archive.org/web/20010503055918/http://www.bitvise.com/services.html

most likely Bit (maybe satoshi knew about this. hence the name bitcoin.).
or simply just B as in A-Money/B-Money.

I think it is Broadcast-Money or Bid-Money (not "Bit"), but those are just guesses.

I take it those guesses comes from reading this? bid-money doesn't really describe its real purpose though.

I guess it's simply "bit". "bit money" would make sense.
