I think the pandemic has changed a lot in the market and including that will have an impact on bitcoin halving this year. I do not expect a rapid increase in the price that could be in other circumstances, but I hope it won't drop hard.

I just hope we just stay at the current price, for me this is already a good price despite its lower than its starting price this year.
I'm alright with waiting, the market will recover when the pandemic is over, then so be it, besides, I'll never get tired of accumulating these cheap coins.

What impact do you now expect with halving coming soon as covid-19 is still ravaging the world ? The times are near, the halving is around May and we have barely one month plus while the world is still battling with covid-19 that is taking hundred of lives daily worldwide.
IMO , I think we might not feel the spike until 2021.

Covid-19 will have zero impact on halving. haling will happen no matter what. Covid-19 will have influence on use of Bitcoin. People lost and are losing their job. Half people have no savings or less then $1000 savings. They will get in debt fast. Getting loans is easy, but paying them back without income is hard. The is bank account will get closed. So they will start searching other options to do banking with. Bitcoin is just around the corner.

I am sure if there is no halving event at this year bitcoin and even most cryptocurrency price will have a bad sentiment market maybe like 2018 ago. Halving event will be considered by a lot of people there as a moment to recover their lost before and seem like their plan is going good. Although we are in the bad situation, most of economic from most country are in the bad situation but bitcoin and some altcoin still have good price movement. Indeed we have found a bad thing in the early but some people thing that crypto is good and they choose crypto as another place to invest. I think we still have a chance to gain a lot of profit from halving event and we ca see it later.

My speculation in February this year was that bitcoin is going to double in price after halving but I don't think that is going to happen. Covid19 has created significant fear in the mind of people and no one no what is going to happen next. If any drugs is fine as a cure for covid19 that will change everything considerably.

There's no doubt COVID-19 has disastered the entire globe especially stock market and daily life has been ruined, I am still afraid of this halving as European countries are extending the lockdowns especially US, UK..

I hope this corona will not impact the BTC halving but still i am unsure that this halving may not be a positive one, this is just my thought...

At this time what is expected by people all over the world is to avoid and survive this Covid-19. because in various worlds are implementing a lockdown program. the economy will automatically decline. but actually now is an opportunity for bitcoin to be able to fix the prices that are currently falling.

I think we can only notice the effect of the halving in the market if the world already overcome the covid-19 pandemic. People are focuse on how to stop this virus from spreading, its like the time stop because all the major activities are suspended and most establishments are close as well.

We should not expect too much that the price of btc might soar high because of halving. But I want to believe that it can somehow affect the price despite of this unfortunate situation. Even it takes months or years its fine, the time will come we can experience another bull run again.
Now people are only interested in covid-19 and the demand for investment in this market has been on a downward trend in the last few months. I do not know when this epidemic could end, but you will certainly face great risks if you choose to invest in this period. Of course, this is also an opportunity for you to consider investing in some cheap coins because the bear market is always the time for you to become richer.

Maybe it was a bliss in disguise? I know we can't call corona a bliss because it literally killed thousands of people, the total death total stands at 50k right now, that is 50 thousand people who is no longer with us because of corona.

However one thing is certain that price dropped because of it, we were around 7k-10k levels and now we are lower, that means eventually we will go back up and with halving coming up the price will surely skyrocket to back to what it was before this and I suggest if you buy right now, and sell couple months after halving, you will definitely profit from it. Even if it takes longer, like lets say you will not profit this summer but the summer after that, it is still a 50% or so profit and you can't get that anywhere else.

we are just entered the second quarter and there is a month before the halving comes.

Maybe we can't expect effect of Halving instantly because of the crisis but at least in the following quarters there might be changes.

if china almost getting through the virus now so why not the other countries?i 3 to 4 months time there may be a anti virus created so the market will change to Good flow again(hoping so).

Don't expect too much, bitcoin price will be up slowly. And never saw like halving event at 2016 ago bitcoin price was up automatically when the halving event happened. But it need several time for the price up. As you remember all time high for bitcoin price was 2017 ago that at that time its price was able to reach $20.000 whereas in the early of that year bitcoin price only $900 and at the end of that year bitcoin price touch $20.000. The investor need more time to buy bitcoin and keep hold them. I think it will happen with the current situation and the increasing price will up at next year.

There might be a sort of delayed regarding to the actual impact of incoming halving due to this Corona virus, most of the investors are concern with their financial status while battling with the virus, choosing life first before anything else. With such behaviors investors won't be in focus in terms of investing their money to anything, but instead, they will consider things that will keep them and their family alive while the virus still exist. People who still have money and can wait for the effect of halving keeping assets can still be perform.
This virus is really influential in many aspects, from human health to their work and their daily income, and at a stage of survival, money should be spent reasonably and not be wasted, most investors will ignore bitcoin, even other areas of investment, maximize their savings until everything recovers. The effect of the halving event is undoubtedly delayed, if the virus shows any worse signs, sometimes the value of bitcoin will fall as the halving approaches, the event that was perhaps very favorable for bitcoin suddenly became an opportunity in an inappropriate moment
Now the epidemic situation is very complicated and will definitely get worse if you are not careful. In this market, I only use 10% of my assets to invest to make money and 90% is for emergencies. Now is the time to survive and you need to be careful when going out because if infected, it will surely cause a lot of troubles in life. Personally, I just sat still at home and didn't go out to protect myself.

Wish for the rain? Then deal with the mud too.
I wanna be as positive as I could, buddy. Although the obvious thing was we won't be able to see new heights with having this pandemic around causing huge challenge in the market, and the community I still wanna take a different path that is why I think we would be able to look forward to see incoming pumps with regards to halving's impact. Neither thinking of it won't bring me any good, but that is merely my opinion. After all, cryptocurrency market is unpredictable,  and besides market as of now still working up even a little so why won't be it after halving.

Well not unless we beat Convid-19 right?this is the main reason why the economy of the world is still in Bad shape.

but if we can take this down in just a month or two from now?for sure the Crypto market will react Good in the effect of Bitcoin Halving though it may be late this year or the next but still will have impact.

People are scared of covid-19 because it could really take our life, there's been reported everyday that people are dying with covid, if this won't be stop the world will still struggle until the economy will collapse, this is a global fight that every country has to participate and in this crisis, people are worry of the future too, they are not thinking of investing their money.

The effect of crypto so far is still uncertain, bitcoin is quite stable now, no dump or pump but as long as it survives, it's already a good thing.
We have to take things once at a time, the formula is,.. when the market recover, bitcoin might pump and will be bullish for a maybe in this year.

Dude, bitcoin has needed more than a year before it was getting a huge pump. Halving will not always bring the direct pump to the price of coin. In this case, i prefer to see the long term impact that happens to the bitcoin rather than a short pump without strong support. Investors have to see the strong fundamentals of bitcoin before they are willing to buy bitcoin.
It may take a long time for the coin to return to a new rising price, but until then we need to carefully consider our investment options. Of course I would choose to invest in Bitcoin more because this is a safe coin for me and for sure when the covid-19 ends, this coin will rise again. However, it is necessary to think carefully because the situation is not stable right now.

Well, I think this was basically the perfect timing and couldn't have happened any better. Of course it is in general a horrible time to get something like this happen for the general health reasons, however that doesn't mean that it can't happen to be good for the price of bitcoin.

Right now, we are doing not so well compared to only a month or so ago, we were literally above 10k in 2020 and we are only finishing the third month, so we moved from 7k to above 10k to under 5k and now we are close to 6k again. Which means the price is definitely prime to go above 10k once again after the halving, we just don't know when, it could be a month later, it could be 6 months later, it could be a year later. I don't know when but it will definitely happen for sure.

We have the same thought OP. I'm also aware that this halving is one of the important events for us because it can somehow boost the price of bitcoin in the market which is now currently at the bottom. The COVID-19 is totally devastating like many of us are panic selling due to the rapid increase of infected people. I'm pretty sure while we are having a bitcoin halving, we are still in the middle of fighting on the virus, and I know it's hard to deal with it because all of us are waiting for this event. If the number of people who got infected will keep on increasing,  I'm sure we can see the bloody market on the day of halving and after that, we can't see again a new bullish market which all cryptocurrencies especially bitcoin will fly to the moon.

But, who knows even if we are currently battling with the virus, the halving still goes on the positive side which brings bitcoin to the moon again.

Since technically, the blockchain is running on its own and possibly can be debugged remotely, it isn't affected by much. It's just that people started needing more money so some are cashing out and converting their BTC. We may see it or we won't as long as you have a long term vision with it, I think we are safe.

The point is market forces cause price to grow, spike and bull from there upwards and that market forces is demand. Therefore, if there are no demand or high demand during the halving and through out many months in this year because either people are cashing out to buy food and take care of themselves and family, demand won't rise not until things starts getting settled again.

Unfortunately, but nobody knows how long the coronavirus crisis will last. That is why people think more about saving money for the most necessary things, and not about investing.
If the situation is controlled by May, it is not known how much the global economy will suffer, so also it is not known how long economical crisis will last.
It is also possible that investors who run away from classic stock exchanges decide to invest in cryptocurrencies, then it could turn out to be a very good moment for the price of Bitcoin.
We still do not have enough information to assess it well.

Despite the fact that at this moment we think that with each new day the situation associated with coronavirus is getting worse, I think that by May the situation will calm down and certainly improve. When we look at the Bitcoin price chart after previous halvings, we see that large increases start after a few months after halving event, so this time it will most likely be this same.
Regardless of how big the economic consequences will be after the virus crisis, we can expect price increases on the cryptocurrency market at the end of the year or in 2021.

If there is no effect from Corona Virus then I think Bitcoin can go up to $ 15000 when halving occurs. But unfortunately, the virus has made the situation worse. And I'm not sure how bitcoin will move in the near term because halving is no longer important to this market and investors.

The impact that will be caused by the pandemic will make halving will not give even a small impact on the market but there will be always possibility. We are very close to the halving but bitcoin doesn't show a small sign about the possibility for the market to increase again. This looks bad enough but we will see.

I still believe that if the virus didn't take over the world I believe that crypto space will boom as we move along on this BTC halving and yes, I totally agree that once this is over there is still a chance in the long term to see improvement on the market.

There's nothing much to worry if the halving is happening this May since the bullish effect will take some time before we finally got to see the bull market. It's better to see such dip in the near future because that only means Bitcoin is starting to get bullish and I think what we have experienced right now is just a traders movement. Luckily, we have a strong support that it holds the $6k level but that's just not enough we are still in a bearish trend.

The impact of Covid-19 on the world economy was enormous. because the economy is not going well, exports and imports are prohibited. resulting in a decrease in prices everywhere. because everyone withdraws their assets to be used to buy basic needs as important needs. because of this large withdrawal, prices in crypto money have decreased.

Covid-19 is not going to end very soon, rather I have read in the newspaper that Specialist predicted about Coronavirus that it will stay till June! So, you see thousands are people are dying every day, the number is not decreasing rather it's growing. So, Bitcoin halving hype is gone, people's interest also gone! So, the halving day will be as normal as now! So, I agree with you that we will not see another spike before 2021!

I also think that halving will not affect the price this year. The influence of the coronavirus and the current economic crisis is much higher than the news of halving in May. people don’t care about it now.

If most country decides to lockdown then most likely bitcoin halving event will not give much to bitcoin price and altcoins price. Unless if the corona virus has gone away and there is medicine who can be heal for those people who infected then I'm sure bitcoin market will going to increase. Most people now only focus to collect money fiat as much as possible, because they will be stay at home in an undetermined period of time. So, if you are bitcoin investor and has bought bitcoin then you will be good to keep hold them in your wallet. Your effort will be pay much when bitcoin price start to increase and I believe that will happen for sure.

Nice that you have said the year 2021.
I'm pushing my feelings up to that year as there's nothing much to expect for this year for me. There is something to expect because of halving but the rapid effect of it might be seen by 2021.

We can only feel it after the crisis we have in corona  already gone any where in the world.

the count of those infected still increasing day by day i dont think we are in peak of infected by now . This is just a start and there is possiblity that it might increase to million infected by the next more month.

It's not a problem that bitcoin prices are slowing to increase or bull will not happen this yead . The biggest problem right now is a virus that is spreading all over the world .

In my perspective, i see that the effect of the halving to market will take long to be seen, maybe 1 up to 1 and a half years from now because of the continuous spread of the virus and the growing numbers of confirmed case, even if we defeat the virus later this year, the damage it has given to lots of countries will not be solved for quite some time so the market will not going to back to normal for months. We are indeed in a rough road now and we need to stay strong and cooperate so that soon things will go back to the way it is soon.
