Get'em boys
Honestly, I'm mostly a lurker here on the forum, but I've started getting more active recently since I appreciate the community spirit here on Bitcointalk.

Scrolling through the scam accusation and reputation threads shows me that people really look out for each other here, even if there are a few nefarious individuals that seek to disrupt the peace.

With that said, since I mostly lurk, Bitcointalk disappearing wouldn't have a huge effect on my life. But I do plan to get more involved, so I would be losing that.

This forum is as neccessary in the life of a Cryptocurrency enthusiast as oxygen is to the life of land dwelling creatures.
Personally not only would I be losing a good source of income, but I would also be losing a big source of entertainment and news, this is where I get to see the latest projects in the Cryptocurrency space and this is the forum where I get to meet other Cryptocurrency enthusiasts and discuss about things related to our shared interest.

As true as it may sound, there are other forums like this, who technically work the same, maybe some tweaks on the rules here and there but should provide the same services. But let's be honest, this forum is too good (I should say), it gives a lot of information, opportunities, etc. This has been the foundation actually, and that alone makes this forum stands out compared to others.

I don't use any other social media platform to get the information about crypto market so if bitcointalk get vanished maybe I don't have access to any news other than the prices of cryptos, which might collapse my future crypto investment plans or I get up ended with investing on wrong coins.

And also I will be missing new gambling sites which uses crypto payment, any site which has good or bad will be exposed in their ANN and other sections but if forum vanishes people uses paid reviews to dump the growth of actual legit sites.

I suppose it's something to do with the idea of sitting in your cacks at home while doing it being appealing but it still strikes me as bizarre.
That is appealing though. I can post on the forum while lying in bed, while watching TV, while stirring a pot of chilli, while sitting in the car waiting for someone I'm picking up, etc.

Your point about the time/effort ratio is obviously spot on, and I earn a lot more from my regular job than I do from renting my signature and avatar, both in terms of absolute earnings and in terms of per unit time, but I can't do my regular job when I've otherwise got 10 or 20 minutes to spare like in my examples above. If it's a choice between killing time browsing Facebook or playing Candy Crush, or learning and discussing on here, I'd still be picking the latter even without a financial incentive.

Yeah, the freedom of being able to do them whenever you want can't be overstated. It's what I like about being a mod as well. There's absolutely no expectation or requirement for you to handle x amount of reports or be online 9-5 or whatever hours are expected of you. If I wake up at 4AM and fancy doing some posts or reports I can do. If I want to spend most of my day doing something else I can do that also. I don't need to get time off to go on holiday and don't need to call in sick. If I want to sleep in or do nothing that day then I can.

Newcomers are mostly being misled by their peers on believing that it's easy to earn here in the forum.
It is easy, though, if you are happy to work for peanuts. You can be accepted to YoBit or altcoin campaigns without even being able to formulate a coherent sentence. You can join bounty campaigns just by spamming Facebook shares and Twitter retweets. Minimal effort and zero brain power needed. Only time.

It's fairly easy for people like us with high-ranking accounts but the earning opportunities for a newbie are not like they used to be. Back in the day anyone could sign up and start posting on campaigns like PrimeDice straight away. Now it is very very difficult to get an account ranked up to a decent member-ship level with earning potential and will take you years to achieve that, and that's not even including the merit requirements which for an average poster are going to be very difficult to achieve.

There's always, always been a weird disconnect with earning and the internet. For some reason people would do some mindless activity they'd refuse in the real world and they'd do it for a tenth of the money too. This isn't in any way unique to crypto either.

Human ignorance never fails to amuse me...

You can be a designer, a programmer and still work remotely from your bed ( if you are that kind of person Tongue ) and earn far greater than what any campaign would you pay you. E.g I can design a logo in 2-3 hours timeframe. I usually charge anywhere between $150-$250 for a standard logo. I could virtually do 1 logo a week and make the same amount as the person in chip mixer campaign. I will have far greater "Free time" than anybody who has to fill the quota of 50 posts a week. People are usually ignorant about how money can be made. I will repeat myself There are far better ways to make "Easy" money then typing comments on an Internet forum...

E.g Programming is essentially "googling" > Stack Overflow > Copy Paste, In a nutshell. These sig spammer/ plagiarisers can make a killing if they can figure out how to code...  Grin

But you still need to be skilled in those things. I can't do any sort of designing or programming but it's fairly easy to post about whatever you fancy and all it requires is a bit of time effort and that's why its so appealing to many people. If people could earn decent money elsewhere then they likely would already be doing so, but for many they don't really have a choice or haven't discovered a better alternative yet.

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
I'd have so much more time without this forum Cheesy
At this time, I would for instance be sleeping because the kids wake up in a few hours. And yet, here I am.

We'd all get bored so fast without this forum... It's my excuse to get out of everything atm... I decided to go Christmas day without using the forum and that was hard enough. I don't even think I managed it either 😂.

If this forum went and there was nothing similar to replace it, most importantly, I'd have to turn to twitter, YouTube or some other social. Media and that would be awful... I've considered branching out but the community here is great... Even if you get a troll you can't work out if they're trolling or just condescending (for want of a better word) - where else do we get this sort of service.

What would happen if the forum vanished?
Not having much free time due to demanding work, I have never participated in signature campaigns, so the lack of the forum would not cause me less profit.

However…. however I try to write whenever possible, and this has led me to read (and intervene) practically every day over the years. So if the forum disappeared I would have a lot of free time  Grin but on the other hand I would be very sorry because this forum made me learn a lot.
Especially on two fronts:
1) I met completely positive people (less positive ones just ignore them)
2) in addition to improving knowledge on some crypto, from the forum I learned several other things, for example:
- use tools that I didn't use before and that have nothing to do with crypto: Slack but above all Discord
- discover interesting TG channels: e.g. Hacker news
- readings on some topics that I had never followed, for example (and you will see that it has nothing to do with crypto) the beautiful book "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins.

So ultimately if the forum faded I would be very sorry because I got a cultural enrichment that goes far beyond the crypto world.
But it won't die ...   Wink

I've seen a couple of users mention in the past that they like earning these tokens, because although they know what they earn will only be worth a few cents (if they can even find a buyer), they hold on to the hope that one of them will exponentially grow. I suppose it's people who missed out on the early days of bitcoin, and seem to think that if you collect enough useless tokens at least one of them will turn in to "the next bitcoin", which is obviously not the case.

I've also pointed out that even with this line of reasoning, simply getting a job and buying these tokens will still result in much larger holdings, but as you say, objectivity goes out the window.

I can get behind that, but I would at least commit to a token that I could actually, like, sell.

Can't remember what campaign it was, it might have been Coinsbank, but one week paid 0.3 BTC when the price was in the depths of the toilet in 2015. Had you told me that for a brief period that week's 'labour' would be worth $6000 within less than three years I would at least have trimmed my pubes before posting those burger shots. And plucked my clinkers.

I am a scholar of Bitcointalk, it provides me what I need especially my tuition fees and my allowance. Its been already almost 2 years, since I started earning here, my account has so many memories, but the most precious thing was, this forum was able to help me to continue pursue my dreams.

I hope this can stay still until I graduated next 2021. Yes, only a year left then I'll be a professional human being, so I hope Bitcointalk can still help me for this last coming year. I am really greatful for this forum as well as to its users.

Maybe they have priced up what their labour could be sold for elsewhere and decided here is good enough but internet earning and Bitcoin earning seem to chuck that objectivity out the window in many a case.

If theoretically, this forum will disappear one day, I will treat it as a great loss in my life. Visiting and reading in this forum everyday is already like a routine of my life. Aside from the fact that I am earning a lil bit of satoshis here weekly. This forum has vast information that it can offer for all levels of crypto users to any kind of crypto topic you can think of, that most of them can't be found on any other crypto sites. So I think a lot of people will be very sad if this situation happens.

I suppose the line is when you start dedicating 8 hours or more a day to participating in bounty campaigns.

I would hope it is the former for most people and it does indeed have plenty of appeal and very few people wouldn't do that given the chance.

In reality though I reckon the latter is much more likely. Maybe they have priced up what their labour could be sold for elsewhere and decided here is good enough but internet earning and Bitcoin earning seem to chuck that objectivity out the window in many a case.

Good luck to 'em all the same.

Get a physical job and you even get fit at the same time, rather than sitting hunched over a computer all day.

When newcomers turn up here asking how to earn it never seems to occur to them to devote a quarter or less of the same amount of time to a real world gig and finish up with more BTC if they spent their earnings on it.

I'm sure for some there's no alternative but for others it doesn't seem to ever occur to them to question the time/effort/benefit ratio.

Newcomers are mostly being misled by their peers on believing that it's easy to earn here in the forum. When it comes to time/effort they would take this forum and most likely the forum rules taken for granted as they're accustomed that it's easy to earn in this platform. Result? Spammers everywhere--members who don't even know the basics of the basics, disrespecting people here who are devoted and does put a lot of effort into the forum. That's why I don't blame people who would be irritated by reading "idiotic" statements/comments. And most of the time off-topic replies that will derail the topic at hand and would attract fellow spammers to reply that would create a tower (which looks like a mess btw).

I am not particularly good on this forum, but at least I'll put a lot of time to read to learn (tbh that's what I'm mostly doing atm, I don't reply that much) and will try to reply that makes sense at the very least.

Anyway, people who say sig campaigns pay "pennies" are mistaken in the extreme.

I kinda disagree tbh, majority of these people do get paid in pennies, Especially people whose rank is below Hero. They are doing all of this in the "promise" of higher rewarding campaigns they will have access to once they rank up. When I said they can pay a bill or two. You need to factor in that these are on the lower side as well. E.g a Normal household Energy Cost is around $10-$20. A normal broadband connection would cost around $20 per month, So someone enrolled in mint dice's campaign in a full member rank would be able to cover these if they can spam for a whole month, most of them do realize it's not worth their time but some of them do want to try it out and basically try their luck as some of their friends who joined bitcointalk before the merit system and now are enrolled in somewhat better campaigns... So that's basically their motivation in a nutshell. I would personally consider it "Pennies", given that you aren't spamming on the forum. Usually, if you are going to read the thread it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour depending on how big it is, plus there is no guarantee that you will find something to "Respond" to or to further add to the discussion. There are far better ways to spend this time e.g learning something which you can make a better living off from...

Firstly, I would have a lot of free time drop on my laps and would probably struggle to fill that initially. As an example, I have not been very active during the festive season and I sometimes feel the urge to check in on the forum.

If the forum does vanish, I would pay more attention to my blog and probably, take up one or two more online courses as I'll have to time to. However, it would not be the same without bitcointalk.org, It would be a pain looking up price speculations through Reddit or some other medium.

Another perspective I just thought of is; what would be the state of the forum be if bitcoin disappeared, i.e, became valueless? Of course, these would be a mass exit, but if you do stay what would you do here?

Lol.  I wish I had a chip in my head instead of whatever's up there at the moment.  Sometimes it feels like soggy fruit.

Not sure my life would change all that much, but I'd miss this forum a lot.  I had a life prior to registering on bitcointalk and I'd have a life if the forum went kaput tomorrow, though it probably would feel different.  I do spend an ungodly amount of time here, since this is where I get my crypto news, gossip, and drama.  That would be sorely lacking if BCT went bust.

I can totally back that... Anybody who says otherwise is straight-up lying. I'm from what you would call a "Developing country". Last time I checked Unskilled workers make around $4-$7 per day depending on different cities, that's the standard rate.
Yeah, the impact of signature campaigns has got to be incredible if you're from a poorer country.  They're a godsend, I know, but they're also spam magnets.  I have nothing against anyone from those developing countries--I just can't stand reading idiotic posts made from members who can't write.  We've got local boards for such members.  And then there are members whose 3rd, 4th, or whatever language is English and they write incredibly well.

Anyway, people who say sig campaigns pay "pennies" are mistaken in the extreme.

Last time I checked Unskilled workers make around $4-$7 per day depending on different cities, that's the standard rate. This $4-$7 isn't enough to live above the poverty line. These people hardly make it through the month. These are not the people who are good around PCs either, they would lack the basic knowledge of turning on the PC. People who wear these sigs from "developing countries" are people who are doing bitcointalk as a side gig... This side gig can easily pay a bill or two but its nowhere near that it could sustain a Person let alone a whole family for a month. However, if you are in a campaign like Chipmixer then you can sustain a good living style as the cost of living isn't on the upper side. So yeah, just don't assume the Pajeets out there are making a killing by shitposting here. They are trying to cover up for a bill or two that's it.

It would also be pretty sad for everybody else around the world who rely on the income from this forum. I know it's changed a lot of lives of people from developing nations and for many people they earn more from here than they do from their regular jobs if they're even lucky enough to have one at all. I wonder how many people would be plunged into poverty or even worse if the forum disappeared or just their ability to earn via signatures went. Sad to think about really.

This is what I'm curious about. And I wonder how many people are properly dependent on it.

I've seen sig campaign participants saying they pay their rent and all their bills with what they earn. That's pretty alarming. I've been in campaigns that have vanished with zero warning and sometimes pickings elsewhere are extremely slim.

I would think a good majority of the people who are from developing countries and are sig campaigning rely on it to some extent. If you can earn more here than from a regular job then you'd be silly not to try capitalise on that, but remember some people also don't have much of a choice. Campaigns do come and go and they're not as plentiful as they used to be but there's usually always one you can join even if it's a shitcoin campaign, but if you were on a high paying one and that suddenly disappeared then I'm guessing a lot of people would be in bad positions but I'm sure they move on.

As much as I want to get better in the forum (for the forum), at the same time I'm getting tired of it, I want to do something else--I want to do what I want. BUT I am not saying that those times that I've been here are not informative, enjoyable, or exciting because it does.

This is another interesting perspective. There must be people here who feel obligated or compelled to be here rather than finding it fun any more. Either they need to earn or it's simply become a habit they can't break.

If you earn from it and are perhaps dependant on that money then for many it will just be like a regular job. Do you want to have to go to work? Are you happy with where you work? Many aren't but they do it out of necessity, but that's life. If this forum or any job is negatively effecting your life then you should probably look at trying to find something you enjoy doing. Life isn't that much fun if you spend it all working yourself into an early grave and sacrificed doing things you actually enjoy (but again, not everyone has that luxury of living the life they truly want).

If the vanishing will happen soon, then I'm efed up.

Let's be honest, people will think of something else other than this. I, myself, is considering taking an alternative. For now, I'm just preparing for what I need. And this forum helped me a lot. As much as I want to get better in the forum (for the forum), at the same time I'm getting tired of it, I want to do something else--I want to do what I want. As I've said before, I would have no option but to kill myself even if Chipmixer signature campaign merely shut down as I am a broke bum and cannot afford to live without my Chipmixer dregs so the forum shutting down would be disastrous for me. I would probably have to find a way to kill myself twice if that happened.

The forum somehow ceasing to exist or even bitcoin going completely tits up and being replaced by something else is something I've thought about and that happening would leave a pretty big gap in my life as sad as that may sound. Both bitcoin and this forum have consumed my life since I joined in with them both in 2013 and there's been a lot of ups and downs during that time. I can live on very little and am wise with my money so it wouldn't be the end of the world but I'm incredibly gratefully for the coins I earn via the forum and it's basically going to ensure that I don't ever need to get a mortgage for a house and can buy - or preferably build - one with my savings and that was always one of my goals when I got involved with bitcoin as I absolutely hated the thought of taking out extortionate loans and paying for something several times over. The fact that you can essentially earn from anywhere in the world as long as you've got an internet connection is also a pretty huge plus and another goal of mine was to have a bit of money left over to go travelling so I'll probably try take advantage of that next year and do some globe-trotting whilst still being active on the forum. I'd much rather be sat by a pool or beach somewhere with a laptop than sat in front of my PC in shitty old rainy England  Grin.

In regards to the subject field of this thread, it would significantly affect my life in both ways [good and bad]...
- This forum has been more than a family to me:
  • I never thought I'll learn more lessons on this forum alone than in my real life.
  • I bumped into both great people [valuable assets] and some not so great ones [scammers, spammers and etc...].
  • It allowed me to save enough money to buy my first car 2 years ago[100% of the funds were taken from my earnings on this forum] and a few other things...
  • It helped me significantly in improving my English [still not perfect].
  • Changed me into someone that reads way more than I used to be [when I wake up, before I sleep and whenever I have some free time at work/home] and that resulted in me gaining some weight but it's fine Cheesy
  • To summarize the above things: "This forum is responsible for turning me from a boy into a man."

would you simply sigh and keep on trucking elsewhere unimpeded?
I wouldn't.

Bitcoin = Financial freedom
I read a lot of news regarding the crypto market which influences the market prices on various sections which helps me a lot to understand the price movement for my daily trading activities. So if this forum vanishes I will be making a lot fewer profits than the current one.

Am I the only one who is eager to open the bitcointalk forum at the start of the day instead of the social media?

No, I'm the same. I stopped using Facebook because of the data mining / surveillance capitalism. More than this though, I like the breadth of discussions here, and the fact that we are exposed to opposing views rather than channelled into meticulously curated echo chambers. It is always important in life to challenge your preconceptions and what you consider to be established truth. We can do that here across a wide range of subjects, whilst still sharing a universal common interest in crypto.

In fact, all living things and things created from them will one day disappear. So I think that will also happen on the bitcointalk.org, bitcoin and altcoin. But I hope that the bitcointalk.org forum can last at least until I can still move my fingers to write and my eyes can still see.

The bitcointalk.org forum has provided a number of benefits for most users. Even when we realize that forums value our work and pay more than we can get in real work. That is why we are worried about its sustainability.

Concerns about the sustainability of the forum may not only be felt by the OP, but quite a lot of other users are starting to feel the forum wont be there forever. But my mind is interested to think that, as long as the forum is still there and still provide benefits to its users, until then we can still use it to do business, earn money, develop knowledge and many other things that are useful for ourselves and the community.

I dont think that all users of the bitcointalk.org forum are people who have no real work outside the forum or are unemployed. Even if the forum has to disappear, then they can return to pursue their work in real life.

I dont know what will happen to bitcoin and the bitcointalk.org forum in 1-10 or 20 years, but now is the right time to determine what will be done by users who have no real work when the forum must be destroyed. Until then, we will have another job.
Bitcointalk.org only crash forum where many people try to get attention from moderator by report any one else without create new ideas and give knowledge for other to understand with bitcoin progress, just this way to be higher level bitcointalk account forum with report other person?

It would be really sad thing. In all these years spent on this forum, Bitcointalk become important part of my life.
Same like others, I would get lot of free time. In first weeks I probably wouldn't even know what to do with all time that I got Cheesy. I definitely wouldn't move to alternative forums like Cryptotalk. Forum.bitcoin.com and others. I also wouldn't move to other platforms like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and others because it's not an alternative to forum. I don't know, maybe I would try to find new hobby or just would start watching some tv series, because now I don't have time for it.
If one day government will shutdown Bitcointalk, I'msure that Bitcointalk core would start alternative forum. But if it would be started from scratch, probably I will not be so addicted to that forum as now.

I do not know what will happen to me when this forum disappears. Maybe I will be a little depressed and feel missing some important things in my life.
This forum has made my life more productive and learned about bitcoin until now. Even half the time I have spent I review this forum and do some work.

I am interested in this forum since 2016 and then registered. I am totally blind and do not know the benefits of bitcointalk, so I vacuum up to 1 year and start active again in 2017.
In the same year in 2017 I felt that this forum provided several benefits for me financially and gave many new friends from all corners of the world.
I have participated in all kinds of bounty campaigns, including becoming a translator.

My income is even greater in this forum compared to my real income.
But if the forum this is lost somewhere, I will be a regular employee who spends a lot of time for family and go on vacation on weekends.

Facebook will get back one of his user. Because before joined on this forum, I had spent my free time on the Facebook. -snip-
Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and other social media I never publish about bitcointalk.org, because I close myself from people around me.
If I am open about this forum and my side job there will be many strange questions to come, I avoid that and choose to remain silent as anonymous.
Maybe I'm only active on a telegram account

There's always Cryptotalk... Grin
Cryptotalk may not be able to replace bitcointalk.org, it is still very difficult even though cryptotalk spends a lot of money to do promotions by holding a signature campaign aided by yobit. It takes a long time if I really have to move to cryptotalk, because the bitcointalk forum has become my second home.

This place has also encouraged me to keep buying MOAR & MOAR BTC. I initially wanted 10 in 2014, then I wanted to be in the 21 club. My targets started growing & growing & I kept meeting them.

I live in a pretty poor area where their are very limited opportunities to even make even a decent living, but I am very resourceful and self reliant so I can do decently well on a very limited budget by doing everything for myself.. My real life skillset is all mechanics and construction.. I am not a coder but my knack is for physical things like machines..

I have never really been in a position to buy Bitcoin.. I have only ever bought $100 in BTC, and at a price higher than it is now..
All of the coin I have is what I made myself from basically nothing and have only ever sold some 2 times.. I have thankfully had the self discipline to hodl the majority of coin I have been able to accumulate, which really is not all that much sadly, but more than I have ever sold..

I am far from "made" but I'm holding BTC because I believe that maybe some day I could be "made" on a fair amount less coin than you mention..

I need to find/pursue a way to start accumulating satoshis again.. Even little by little..
The hayday of trading seems to be over for me..

The moral of the story is, if you want your significant other to become a BTC Believer and become OK with your time spent on crypto, buying them something expensive, that they really want, need, and will use every day, with your crypto earnings.. It is like a nuclear weapon against nagging..
I see so just filling my house with loud hot machines was probably not the way to go.  Tongue
Though I think I still get a pass from buying her a PC, through the forum and using BTC when she began teaching ESL online. So double bonus points on the forum and BTC.

This is where I'd likely keep up to date with things. However, I don't own an account that I'm active on either of those sites, and I'm not keen on learning them.
I don't have twitter and only have reddit because I needed to ask a question once or twice, wasn't worth it. So I really wouldn't want to go that route.

@eddie13

I’ve always spent a lot of time online ever since I was about 13 or something. I’ve been on a lot of chatrooms & forums. My gf thinks it’s weird to be honest although for the last 5 or so years I’m only on here & one particular Liverpool FC large Facebook group.

If this forum ceased to exist I’d be a bit lost to be honest, I spend a lot of time here. Met some cool people who are RL friends now.

This place has also encouraged me to keep buying MOAR & MOAR BTC. I initially wanted 10 in 2014, then I wanted to be in the 21 club. My targets started growing & growing & I kept meeting them. This place & BTC specifically has probably made my life. I wouldn’t have the opportunities I now have without this place & BTC until  much later in life from my parents inheritance or something so thanks to each & every one of you.

If the forum vanishes someday, my wife will feel happy for sure.
You didn't open her very own account here as a Christmas present? You could conduct your marriage on here. We could all make helpful contributions to your relationship.

My GF used to bitch all the time about me spending so much time on exchanges, and trollboxes, even to the point of accusing me of talking to other girls (most specifically dcgirl while helping redesign Cryptsy's user interface), lol..
She was always even skeptical if Bitcoin was even really worth anything at all and not just play money.. Didn't believe me..

And then, one day, I bought her the exact BMW she wanted with my BTC I made..

She has sense forever shut her mouth about all the time I have spent and spend on crypto like magic, lol.. Imagine that..

The moral of the story is, if you want your significant other to become a BTC Believer and become OK with your time spent on crypto, buying them something expensive, that they really want, need, and will use every day, with your crypto earnings.. It is like a nuclear weapon against nagging..

This is also a surefire way to BTFO all videogamers with "How much money do you make doing that? What valuable education did you gain playing that game?" or anyone that thinks they can make wisecracks about how much time you spend on your laptop..

Its future does intrigue me. Does it become less relevant the bigger BTC gets and eventually fades away? Hardly anyone is a member of an Android forum but hundreds of millions use it for several hours a day. Or will its size increase the desire for people to gather to discuss it?

If the forum vanishes someday, my wife will feel happy for sure. Because I will spend less time on the internet, on the forum, and on the statistical analyses. She does not understand what I do so from her perspective, she can not understand why I can keep doing such boring things from weeks to weeks. Lips sealed

I rarely watch films (only some of my favorites, once or twice a week but when seasons end, I am free from film watching), then most of my time on the Internet is on the forum, crypto exchanges and data analyses.

I used to consume all my film & series goodies within the week. Now I seem to have a backlog I can never catch-up with: 200 GB of some 226 files ready to watch, plus all the streaming listed and still not viewed … I may even get to (re-)recognize some faces at home …

I've heard he lives in a hollowed out mountain where he shuffles around in Jesus robes lovingly tending to his servers rather like the bloke in Silent Running. One or two asteroids smacking into it and it might be good night.

It would be very interesting to see what the uptake would be for a mirror under a different domain. I wonder if people would be wary or a vast percentage would pile in without a second thought, or perhaps there'd be so many of them people wouldn't know which one to align themselves with.

Apart from the knowledge, Joy and satisfaction I get from engaging with other forum users and discussion on the forum, my signature privilege pays me $300 monthly while my real life job barely pays me ~$100 monthly (that's including my allowance and bonuses) just to show you how helpful the forum has been to me. Now and in the past, a little glance at the past 12 years, now technology is rapidly developing and influencing striking human lifestyles, perhaps caused by mass technology in carrying out activities in everyday life.

The impact of the forum will be negative if you commit to staying connected every day and every week. It is not the effect of this forum but rather "addictive behavior" as you force your mind to add something by repeating that thing every day.
I try to stay away from the forum for a day or two to avoid these effects.
The alternative would be Twitter or reading books.
As for the feature of the forum, it has changed the way I think about what is money?

Maybe this is a bit negative outcome but I'd rather spend my time reading a lot here rather than doing my academic homework (college stud) because it feels like I am gaining more knowledge reading here than attending the university. I consider the BTC I earned as a bonus for using the forum but I mainly use this to help support my parents in financing my education as I go thru attaining my scholarship.

I also made a lot of friends in this community and I will be missing those cryptoheads. However, if the forum will hlbe lost, the knowledge and the growing interest will still remain.

Is it weird to say that I'd have lost a passion of mine? This forum has become part of my daily life for the past few years. The only extended time I had out was when I went in for a operation, and had a little quiet time away from pretty much everything. I first discovered this forum back in 2012, before deciding to sign up in 2013, and taking away expeditions, holidays, and the operation I've been here every day since.

Having said that I'd definitely have more time for my sometimes unnecessarily ambitious projects. Although, if this forum did disappear for whatever reason. I'd probably not participate in another. There would undoubtedly be changes made, and although this forum has its flaws it excels in areas which other forums don't. It has good leadership that doesn't impact the forum too much, and lets the community carve its own path. That is exceptionally rare when "power" comes into play. Especially, with the highly lucrative Bitcoin positions of power, and I think theymos has done an incredible job in handling that despite his critics.

Plus, the community that we've made would likely be lost. This forum has a history which is like no other. Although, this forum has changed its identity before, and that was a success. It might not work as well now that we are much larger. This is where I learned about Bitcoin, and I didn't come here because I thought it was a revolutionary piece of software that I could earn millions on, and I was completely new to online forums at this point.

I would likely have to become active on twitter and reddit to try and keep up with the information/news I can find here scrolling for 20 minutes.

I would feel a loss for sure. There is obviously the BTC I earn from my Sig which isn't insignificant to me anyways. Then there's the fact that I either read or post here a large amount of my downtime at work. One of the main reasons I became so entwined here in the first place was that large chunk of time allowed me to learn as much as I could about mining and then more about the network itself. I have made some contacts here that facilitate my trading or selling of coins. This is my largest opportunity to perform P2P actions, one that I couldn't replicate elsewhere.

I guess if this did go tits up, I would likely move to create a website or something and go about trying to create or duplicate some of the informative posts I had here that are relevant outside the forum. I doubt I would try to find another forum right away I might shop in a month or two to see where other members landed. I think I would be annoyed more than anything though as I would likely have to become active on twitter and reddit to try and keep up with the information/news I can find here scrolling for 20 minutes.

Now I don't mean feeling generally sad, I'm sure everyone would, I'm interested to hear how entwined this forum is in your life and activities.

There must be more than a few people who run businesses through here, plenty sig away, many will be in groups or syndicates for mining, gambling etc.

There's also the fact that this joint is a huge point of reference too. If down the line someone questions the source of an alt or sig campaign funds that started here people can point to the thread where they signed up along with an address to prove they were present.

Would it cause you any proper difficulty or would you simply sigh and keep on trucking elsewhere unimpeded?
