Here is the latest update from devs:
The main difference is
- Both the UI and core will be able to auto-update after next version releases. This means, that we will be able to push the trade portal in an update about a week or so after Genesis, and both the UI and core will be able to have the new features 'just show up'. I think this is a great demonstration of the platform's update capability and thus, I am happy about it.
If you are already running the mainnet chain
- you will not need to do anything other than grab the new UI app. The UI and core will be run local from this point on, as that is what true decentralization is. Therefore, I will be taking down most if not all of my hosted UI servers, in favor of the fully local application on windows, linux, and mac.
+ we may offer the UI prior to the actual genesis, so that you can have the newest one ready for the Genesis block.
- I have yet to fully discuss this with LOTW, but we will over the weekend and will announce it as I know more.
+ Either way, all you will have to do, is download the new UI, and await the auto-update which will reset the chain (for the FINAL TIME) and issue the new Genesis.
- I will leave old nodes running the old chain, so that people can still fire up their old system, and have it hit the update block, and update to Genesis. So no matter what, if you have the current mainnet running, you'll be able to AUTO UPDATE TO GENESIS.
I hope that it helps.
Thank you so much for the update. For once, I've thought Qora was a goner just like other altcoins that became abandoned by their devs over time. As long as there's a vibrant community of developers, and individuals alike, Qora will last a lifetime. I wonder if they'll do a swap for long-time "hodlers" of Qora? I have some coins on an old wallet, which I'd like to redeem for new coins on the QORTAL chain.
I've joined their Discord channel, and the community is still active. But it'd be nice if they post updates here on the BitcoinTalk forum, so that the public could get a better perception of the project. Newbies are often spreading misinformation about coins that don't post updates on the forum, which greatly diminishes the reputation of the project. At least, this tried-and-tested Blockchain network is still alive. And that's what counts.
Here is there new website: https://qortal.org/
I'm a $Qora coin holder so I'm a bit following them but not that much updated on what's going. I'm just reading everytime some announcements pop up on there discord.
EDIT:
Check out this announcement from devs to make it clear.

A rebrand gives a fresh look and feel to the coin. But all the hard work and effort made by the marketing/promotion team on the old brand, will be put to waste. There are people who have been quite fond of the old chain's name/brand, just like it's the case with Bitcoin today. It's no wonder why new Bitcoin forks have kept the "Bitcoin" brand/name. As long as the new QORTAL blockchain delivers as intended, it could become as successful as QORA in the not-so-distant future. Just my thoughts
