Let's say they release a better hardware version, and yours get updated... now you feel like you are using deprecated hardware. Should they send people that already bought the original a new version for free? or are you supposed to buy new versions every X year? I have my doubts of this being ethical, but business is business I guess.

well Apple release a new phone quite often and no one gets a free upgrade

well mining rigs release a new version every few months and no one gets a free upgrade

so i guess they shouldnt give away freebies.
you dont have to buy a new version every year.. as long as the product still dues its primary purpose you dont need to upgrade. and its only a choice to upgrade if there are NEW EXTRA features that you might want to use

Just buy a new one.

This.

You will not be sent a new hardware wallet just because you have the previous model.

As with all technology related hardware, yesterday's hardware is old today.

Amph has answered your question.

well isn't the same as being forced to buy a new computer to play the last game? unless they are mandatory, old hw will be always retro compatible

I think it depends on the company policy but in general only with very expensive products you can exchange your old version with the new generation of devices free of charge. I don't think this will be the case with the Trezor.

I think theres no danger whatsoever that they will send you out a new one , but saying that i thought these hardware wallet were supposed to be so good you shouldnt need any updated hardware. The only way i could see you getting a new one would be if the ones that aare currently out had an issue where they were failing prematurely or something like that.
