I was reading a very interesting article and they brought up these hypothetical scenario, about what happens if Trump looses, and then refuses to exit the White House?. Before you’ll jump in just to clarify I’m yet rooting for him, and this post is just discussing interesting propositions about what will happen if results go against him.

1) scenario 1: he peacefully walks out as per the norms, no drama here for us.

2) scenario 2: he looses by a small margin and refuses to accept the results, and continues to remain in power until the court orders him to leave the White House.

3) scenes 3: this one’s really painful because if he looses by a big margin, and yet he refuses then Biden will send the military to escort him out of the White House.

I know it’s difficult to pick the correct scenario, but if you had too choose a single scenario which would it be and why?.

I don't think that he will refuse. I am not really into politics, but most probably Trump will accept his defeat and will move out of the white house in a peaceful manner.

Then again, if he refuses to move out, he could let the new alleged election winner camp out on the WH lawn? That might be an acceptable compromise.

Very good question.

What will happen if Trump LOOSES?

Is that like if he gets loose?

Sort of like a mad bull rampaging through town?

Though the china shop? The candy store?
.....

Dude , I don't normally complain about folks never being able to differentiate between "lose" and "loose" on these boards as it seems useless.
But seeing how its in the thread title you may want to fix it, just sayin....

Re: Trump to lose popular vote and the elections - Election Model predicts. <----FTFY

Well, at least they since fixed the other thread title that had same stupid error,  lol.

If so, shouldn't there be an investigation and/or a recount that should be done instead?

Since such a situation would almost certainly involve Democratic vote fraud, it certainly would bear some investigation.

That's the result of their continual agitating for no voter ID, mail in ballots, all the things that are conducive to fraud.

If this happens, technically it would be a Trump coup against the USA. If he can pull it off, he will automatically be a dictator, except...

Good luck with that! Grin

If there is a tremendously high popular vote for Trump, but he loses by, say, one electoral vote, we might have to do the election over again.

Cool

If Trump loses the Presidency, it's definitely scenario #1 since there's nothing really for him to gain from choosing scenario #2 or #3 instead.

That's one of a few things I like about this guy - he is an entrepreneur in the first place

Surely scenario 1 will happen as he already announces about this all that if he loses then he will do some other things https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-results/trump-says-he-will-do-other-things-if-he-loses-2020-election-idUSKBN23J2YB

The posts Indicate the question is what happens if trump LOSES. But that's not the question. It is what happens if he LOOSES.

If you were smart, you wouldn't want him let loose.

He won't refuse to leave the House. Trump talks big, but acts little. Yes, he will keep sending hateful tweets (could get his account suspended again), but will be about it.

He is not the type with what would be needed to stage a coup or such. Let the billionaire retire back to his New York tower...

I think #1 plus a lot of angry tweets about billions of illegal votes.

+1 to that.

I really HIGHLY doubt that Trump is going to try to cause a coup like many are saying that he will. He's going to be pretty angry on twitter and all that, and he may still have some power over the rest of the party for a few years or so for endorsements and all that. Depends on how close the election is.

The 'lame duck' portion of his presidency are going to be filled with tons of pardons and tons of executive orders though, like any past president has done when they're on the way out.

Doesn't matter if he loses big or small. Once the states certify the results, it's over and based on the constitution he will be out of a job Jan 20th. Who would escort him out? Who knows and really who cares. If he tried to stay regardless of the election results, he'd just prove what many think of him anyway. Besides, I suspect he'll bolt for the door as soon as he can. He's got deals to make in Russia and China with all the ass licking he's done.

I think no 1 is that the best Trump walks peacefully consistent with the principles Trump doesn't realize it would be very foolish to require any action within the head of anger during this case would be to his own detriment So albeit he loses, he's not won't do any drama. He can leave the White House in order that he features thanks to winning later during this case he will control everything with none risk.

He is going to walk away simply as he got there.
He is stupid but not that much to create drama on the results.
Don't forget that he has enough money to walk away and go back to his previous life again.

I think that would be the scenario here. If he loses, then, he will just walk away. He doesn't need more drama in his life. He has the wealth that nobody can take away from him.

God, I just selfishly wish he loses, that's all. Why selfishly? Cause I won a DV lottery this year and he cancelled all immigrant visas till the end of 2020. My future is literally in his tiny hands. Sorry for off-topic post, I just have to share it somewhere  Grin

Trump might contest the results because he doesn't trust the mail-in votes (and who should, tbh?).

At the very least residents of Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, where they vote predominantly or exclusively by mail and don't seem to have any major issues.

Doesn't this seem like a useless thought experiment trying to come up with possibilities for an event that will never happen? It's not like Trump doesn't know where he's at in the polls. He knows his reelection chances are unlikely.

At this point it is getting more and more likely that none of the two parties will accept the results.  Trump might contest the results because he doesn't trust the mail-in votes (and who should, tbh?).  The democrats might contest the results because of their TDS.

BTW saying "what if Trump doesn't accept his defeat" can be interpreted as a way for the democrats to prepare the public opinion for a counting disagreement: if the margin is thin they'll say it's actually pretty clear and accuse Trump of being dishonest.

Things are getting scary.  More and more people, like for instance Tim Pool, think the US is heading dangerously close to a full on civil war.

the white house is just a house..
the house does not give him power.
if he loses then he simply is then tresspassing. and get evicted by the secret service

the legal documents /inauguration ceremony gives an individual the power to be president. and the person that wins gets that.

so just tresspassing/squatting does not make you 'potus' or  commander-in-chief of a country
Since power is given by the people, I think the author supposes a situation in which not only Trump would refuse to leave, but his supporters would also support this decision. Even with the small problems we have seen in the democratic processes and the increasing polarization in the US these last few years, I really doubt Trump supporters would support such a thing ...
At the end of the day, people know that their lives will not change a lot if the other party takes office. In southern countries, where politics and the orientation of a country can completely change overnight and corruption is rampant, people are less sensible to the democratic processes and are more willing to interrupt it if they feel their day-to-day lives is threaten or will deteriorate.

3) scenes 3: this one’s really painful because if he looses by a big margin, and yet he refuses then Biden will send the military to escort him out of the White House.

This is America and not any third world country where a dictator refuses the results or try to impose his decisions. Also we are not watching any Hollywood movies where a the white house is hacked by the former president.  Smiley
If he loses by big margin or small margin, he will have to evacuate the white house as per the laws. The White house is the official home for USA present, so if he is no more a president, he wont be able to live there.

If Trump had nothing to lose, we could maybe try to stay if he loses. But he still is a businessman and will have to take care of his ventures, trying to take control illegally would risk everything he has...

Didn't Trump already acknowledge that the Democrats are likely to win? I think Trump is a realist and he will just move on. He is a bilionaire and is president of USA, if for 4 or 8 years - does it make such a big difference? Especially in crazy times like we have now with Corona and Black Lives Matter protest - must be very stressful.

1 is most likely but 2 is a real possibility and it wouldn't be like you said.  Trump wouldn't "lose" a close election it would simply be a "contested result" similar to 2001 where it takes a lot of recounts and validation of vote totals before the supreme court has to finally make a call on who won.
