The market looks exhausted right now. Everyone that wanted to dump large amounts of coins looks like they've done it, with the sell side looking seriously thin. Being a weekend, there's no bank deposits, and speculators are going to be nervous about buying until the market has settled again, so another rally over the weekend seems unlikely.

Which way are we headed?
I repeat this post again, it turns out that 2012 to 2018 has the same problem, the market price has also declined, so I can conclude, if the 2018 price drops, it will be the same as in 2012.
So there's no need to panic, that market price that I'm sure will increase for the following year.

oh in anxious melancholy anticipation for the days when bitcoin is not tied to USD and other currencies in the way that people are transferring to and from them to and from BTC requring banks to be open

Down $1 to $4 over the weekend with an $8 floor, then a rise to around $10 during the week and then we will resume upward growth but it will be around half the rate of what we've seen in the last 2 months.

FYI, I made it so y'all can change your votes if you want. Wink

With the sell side so very very thin and my own belief that there aint noone getting an early christmas present of 1kk BTC, I can't see it going anywhere but a hard spike up now. Am I in denial?

Here is my prediction:

Pirate will start to refund some tier 1 lenders (e.g. PPT owners) first to spread the good word which will then refund their lenders over some days to come --> New updates on the refunding process trickle in over some days with minimum work load for Pirate himself.
He will continue to refund lenders over the whole week, but less and less as time progresses.
The news on Monday will probably incite further selling, because of the expected dump of repayed lenders.
If he wants to buy back bitcoin his is short of, he will then do it amidst the plummeting.
By the end of the week price will recover for people realising that most lenders have already been repayed and have dumped or because Pirate ran off with a significant amount of BTC that wont hit the market any time soon.

In short: First DOWN than UP! (over the whole week)

I would tend to agree; however I would expect pirate to close accounts in reverse order with his most trusted tier 1 lenders last. First of all this would be consistent with how pirate has done business and secondly if pirate is short and needs to buy additional BTC in the market it would make economic sense to pay off the weakest lenders first since they are the most likely to panic and sell thereby lowering his costs and increasing his profit.

Black Monday with a drop and a roller coaster throughout the week.

I could see it falling to around 8 or 9.

It will likely go back to stability once it is cleared up in a week or two.

This will be the Big Crash of '12 reported in all the blogs. We'll get all kinds of "see, I told you" articles that Bitcoin is nothing but a scam. Even though it was only a few days bubble, the impact will be FUD fodder for anyone skeptical of Bitcoin's future. I don't care what they say. It will be a good opportunity to buy cheap.

On Monday start grad school.  I have three classes and I need to prepare for my first lecture as a graduate teaching assistant that will be on Tuesday.... Oh, did you mean with bitcoin?

Whats on the time table?

1. Lesson: Spelling BTCitcoin
2. Lesson: Calculating with bitcoin
3. Lesson: Counting Losses
4. Lesson: Learning how to deal with yourself after you lost your house and your wife left with the kids*

I may actually know a good assistant teacher on this subject for you ;=)

Nah, it's much more boring.

I'm thinking actually there will be price swings until the price fluctuates to something a bit more nominal to the markets which has been going on with the price going from 10-13.5 and settling until either the next big dump, investment or pirate, lol.
