A quantum processor for mining bitcoins  Wink
It seems like a good idea at first, but wouldn't a true quantum processor effectively gut the foundations of cryptocurrency?

The answer would be a scypt based ASIC - well as ASIC as you can get. It would be a bitch, power hungry (hot), the architecture would be horrific due to the memory.

but.... if you can build something cheaper than FPGAs with good density then you have a winner.
Hrm.  I'm not ASIC-level, so that's beyond me personally.  I thought this was in the works from a few different angles already...

Good thoughts.  What else?

What are we missing?  Anybody have something specific they were wishing someone would get around to building?

I'm an embedded engineer looking to get a bit more involved.

  • We've got ASICs and their supporting DIY pcbs
  • We've got custom cooling solutions
  • We've got custom power supplies
  • We've got 49-port USB hubs

What are we missing?  Anybody have something specific they were wishing someone would get around to building?

(I know there are a number of excellent community projects, like the Wasp Project Collective.  I'm looking for something a little more personal, specialized, or otherwise nuanced.  No promises; just looking for ideas.)
