Wifi is not an issue with mining, you can get by with dial up if you wanted to although you might have some latency issues or something like that. Today's miners are too loud for home mining truthfully unless you put em in a basement or garage which is not possible in your setup. You might be able to mod the fans but with the power density of the A7 and S9, you still need a high cfm fan. R4 is your best bet.

The problem is in those kind of close quarters almost any current generation miner will be too loud. The one miner built for home use (Antminer R4) has a horrendous track record for reliability so I cant recommend that one. There are a number of people that have purchased quieter fans for their miner to try and mitigate some of the sound but im not sure if even that is livable in such a small living space.

I currently live in a dorm with free electricity. Well I guess I technically already paid for it but I'm looking to get some of that money back. I have about 2000 dollars to spend on top of a 1500 line of credit from amazon with 0% interest for 12 months. I looked into the s9 but saw that it was very noisy. My dorm room is pretty small and I would basically be sleeping within 10 feet of it. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper but I obviously can't have something too noisy. I'm pretty sure there is no breaker or fuse for just my dorm because Ive run a microwave, mini fridge, TV, ps4, two monitors, laptop, heater, and phone all at the same time without a problem. I'd assume that more than 3000 watts would raise a red flag but Im willing to test the waters because I assume its nothing other than a maintenance main coming and flipping the breaker back on. But if there isn't even a breaker for my individual room then I'm in business. The room only gets checked twice a semester and the RA gives a heads up. If worst comes to worst I could always ship the hardware to my cousins, their rate is .08 per KW.

I see the price rising to 1500 at least in the next 12 months and I'm willing to be patient. I wouldn't have to sell each month to recoup living costs. Overall let me know what you guys think and thank you ahead of time.

Edit: I have an ethernet line that gets 100mb down
