It's reported that bitmain's risk wafer on 16nm/12nm/10nm all failed and lost around 4 billion yuan.#btc

is that 38 million usd?

Looking more and more like Bitmain is becoming a house of cards. Awful bet on propping up BCH with their mined BTC, rumor of their wafers failing, selling hundreds of millions of dollars worth of inventory at firesale prices and now being beaten by a number of other manufacturers. IPO could be a big exit-scam.

yeah  its why I did the thread.

btw the  s9 at 564 + 80 to ship = 644 - 100 coupon = 544    btc at 8200  makes it  0.06634 btc  pretty  low price

You just had to go and jinx it haven't you Phil..........BTC now at 7.9k

Yea 644 is great, even our price without coupon is nice on the s9i. Has got me looking at another unit for home, then I have to remember I need the exhausting, it's hard working in candy land all day.

With the rise in market the b3 even looks enticing. But still Nov is way far off from now.

Anyone see Bitmains tweet earlier?

Inno gear is, and always will be terribly priced. Idk why that is and I quit trying to buy from them due to endless fustrations. Now as for Bitmain, I agree with the sentiment of everyone on here. They probably have better gear but they're not releasing them yet. They were hit pretty terribly with the whole Bcash fiasco. Regardless I'm not convinced that the near monopoly gear maker is now suddenly behind everyone else!

For you personally, it's a wait and see moment. Pricing is hard to predict but it will most likely favor who can stomach a higher sticker price. For me the T2 is out of price range and that's the one available now (no turbo).

It's always a toss up though on good prices, a $600 s9i is great for me if my cooling was better.

I am not sure about a bitmain  decred miner

I was going to say "it doesn't exist" but perhaps "they don't sell one yet" would be more accurate.

and Innosilicon does not have an Eth miner  or a B3 miner

Bitmain ETH miner (E3) is less efficient even than some GPUs, e.g. 1050Ti, so Innosilicon could probably beat it if they wanted to.

Unfortunately Innosilicon as business sucks so badly that these efficiency gains don't really matter much. I know you said it's not about the price and all the other things but Bitmain the horrible pigopolist does those things better and they likely don't feel they need to compete for every watt. The difference isn't that big between the T2 and the S9(i), which I think is their main revenue source.

and the t2 turbo  now does 18.1th at 1350 watts
the s9i does 14th at 1400 watts

and a new miner from pangolinminer due in sept 2018 the m10 will be doing 33th at 2150 watts

https://pangolinminer.com/

2150/33000 = 0.0651 watts per gh  the clear cut leader

I know I can order 2 s9i's today for 1120 use my last 2 100 dollar coupons and pay only 920  for 28000 gh

but with gear that is doing 0.066 vs 0.099  I have to pause and think what is best here.

I owned a pangolin M3 it was okay  and was shipped quickly to me.

loud and hot but many miners are just that.

If you are comparing bitmain gear to inno gear its pretty simple.

inno gear is and has always been pretty terrible, its overpriced, and the customer service makes bitmain look like champions. When you have to run the gear for 2 years to make the efficiency difference meaningful it should be pretty obvious why bitmain doesnt feel the need to bring their new product out yet.

Predators stalk their prey.

Bitmain is cautious to release altcoin asics after the A3 fumble. The E3 went well an is still cost friendly if you're having to build a full rack ground up for ethash, the e3 will save you ROI but not upgradable. They released these at $800 out the gate imagine if you bought then.

s9i's are more efficient than s9's and both versions compete well with all other btc asics.

If you're a Bitmain fan, you'll be waiting till late Q3/early Q4 I imagine along with Canaan enthusiasts for new gear.

Then it's not about when the release comes but ROI at purchase or market trends. We've been speculating for a while Bitmain is holding till a strong bull to reap high revenue with high demand.

Should note that Bitmain's Z9 mini and X3 can do massive overclocks, +60% for z9 mini, +50% for X3. Poorer efficiency but way better price perf than inno.

Instead of spending millions on new gear, Inno should put money into customer service. A week to get a reply that's not even answering the questions is unacceptable. They should also stop with the overpromise. The A9 more often that not is below 50k sols. The massive price depreciation on their D9/S11 hurts their image.

They can't even get the BTC to USD conversion on their site accurate, it's literally pulling API data from an exchange or coinmarketcap. Add 2% on the rate if needed, but the 7-10% difference is a joke and surely costed them sales. It's very basic stuff a junior developer can do.

As for the miner itself, great job inno, keep it up. But I wonder how much of the efficiency is due to using 10/14nm instead of 16/28nm and not better chip design.

Innosilicon  now beats bitmain for efficiency with every product they have.

Why hasn't bitmain built more efficient gear for sale?

Btc

T2  is 1430/17200 =   83 watts per 1 th  or +10% = 91 watts a th
S9 is  1400/14000 =  100 watts 1th  or -2%  =  98 watts a th

Zec

A9  is 620/ 50000 =  12.4 watts 1000 sols
Z9  is 266/ 10000 =  26.6 watts 1000 sols

LTC

A6   1500/1230 =      121 watts 100 mh
L3+  800/505    =     160 watts 100 mh

Cryptonight

A8   480 watts /248 =  193 watts  100kh
x3    550 watts/220 =   250 watts 100kh

DASH

A5 750 watts/32500  =  23.07 watts   1gh
D3 970 watts/17000  =  57.05 watts   1gh

Sia

S11 1380 watts/4300gh   = 320.9 watts 1000gh
A3   1275 watts/815gh     = 1564 watts 1000gh

I am not sure about a bitmain  decred miner

and Innosilicon does not have an Eth miner  or a B3 miner

but bitmain  is a clear cut loser in efficiency to everything  you can buy listed above.

This is not about service of the gear
This is not about price of the gear
This is not gear working or being durable

This is about  efficiency  and bitmain  either sucks at that (I don't think so)

Or bitmain  has  better gear they don't release

or something else

At moderators.

I only listed  the entire list of gear byc and alt because the pattern is very clear  and that is the way to show it.

So will bitmain  put a better miner out or continue the price war with the s-9?

I can believe that bitmain  loses  in every model  listed above  so whats up here?
