A kick in the ass to actually do something. Social networking. A piece of paper that claims that you can do things that you probably can't (HE has gone to shit over the years). That's about it, the rest can be achieved in much greater efficiency on your own given sufficient discipline and planning (and in some cases without either of those).

My time management skills have developed from having numerous coursework deadlines and an absurd number of exams to revise for at the same time and being able to divide up your work load in a logical manner and my budgeting and money management skills have come on leaps and bounds at university.

Elementary professional skills, mind training and acquaintances

The main point in attending university is that you're old and skillful enough to make a career head start
If you're eager enough you may continue learning and start working at the same time. Quite a good combination of theory and practice.

BUT you have to be really eager to get some practical knowledge

Helps with critical thinking and broadening your mind and not only on the studied subject. Not saying that it's necessary. Of course real life experience counts as well, but sometimes educating yourself is not a bad idea.

I think university education doesn`t always play a big role. A lot of successful businessmen don`t have a university education, and this doesn`t prevent them.
