Interview Bitmixer’s Exit and Darknet Market Chaos: How Monero Stands to Benefit

They will have to deeply research about Bitmixer and clarification from the mixer's owner and reasons of self-closing the mixer in 2017. I believe the Bitmixer owner consultation with his lawyers and his deeply thinking before closing down that platform will be serious enough for other mixers' owners to think about their services.
That's not an interview, that's just article.
Bitmixer owner said that he contacted his pastor, not his lawyer but this is bullshit. He smelled that it was dangerous to continue to operate Bitmixer.io and when he saw that so many people got arrested in 2016-17, he decided to shut down his service. He is the one of the smartest guy out there who knows when to start and when to stop. Bitmixer was a real money making machine.

Why do you all think that Bitmixer owner was stupid? Mixer over mixer is created every day with the same algorithm, no significant improvement. Blockchain analysis companies are getting better and better. If it was impossible to arrest someone 6 years ago, now it's possible to easily catch with the help of blockchain. Blockchain is not an unreadable book anymore. Bitmixer owner suggested everyone to move on Monero if you want privacy and full anonymity, everything is clear.

Want privacy without being in panic all the time? Use Monero.
Want doubtful privacy and being in panic all the time? Use mixers.

Choice is yours!

Mixers will find another way to advertise their platforms, bitcointalk was not their only platform. They might still be able to bypass restrictions because there doesn't exist any restriction without loopholes. What about only this text in signature without ahref link? Sinbadio platform for your coin safety. It's still an advertisement, just simple text but easy to understand what website to visit for those who know ABC in computer and internet.

The better solution would be to just build your own forum and hope that it will have more traffic than Bitcointalk and promote it there, or just move on and promote it elsewhere. I mean, come on, the internet is huge, I'm pretty sure mixer owners would be able to find other places to promote their services.
Some forums like Mixertalk will welcome for all mixers.

Decentralized forums like Nostr.

I would build a really good  bitcoin wallet with lots of features, and include bitcoin mixing service as one of the features, but this particular feature will be hidden in the wallet, and to access it, I will come up with a trick
All it would take is some guy snitching your Bitcoin wallet's 'hidden' feature and then, bam, banned.  Cheesy

You see the problem here is you cannot control what you're users would do, even if you keep shouting and purposely instructing your users to not post about your wallet's 'hidden' feature, it will eventually be leaked.

What do you guys think.?
As always, it's a nice idea but without many insightful thoughts... Smiley. Maybe Mixero gave you the idea. Wink

Projects are many and with different intentions, but if yours is too risky, it will be flagged and you will mount risk on the people who use it, including yourself. Risk in the sense that authorities are not senseless, they know what is going on, and for your coin/token to be used for some high profile m*x*ng kind of deals like the North Korean stuff, terrorism, child trafficking and many more, that project will be a subject of controversy and will be easily flagged by the authority, of which exchanges that makes business around coins/token to make them boom would have to abide with the authorities.

Imagine all exchanges in the world suddenly stopped transactions with your multiple billion-dollar project. Everything will just be at standstill and the red on the project will be infinity.

mixers are banned in promoting here? i thought Theymos only said Sinbad is not banned because it was caught mixing coins from hackers but not all.
From theymos' thought in Sinbad seizure and legality of mixers to Mixers to be banned, you will see the progress to break connections of Bitcointalk and accusation that it is a darknet for mixers.

Hello Leo! You can still win.
If I owned a bitcoin mixing service, and since Bitcoin mixing services have been banned from being promoted on this forum, in other to keep promoting my service on this forum, I would build a really good  bitcoin wallet with lots of features, and include bitcoin mixing service as one of the features, but this particular feature will be hidden in the wallet, and to access it, I will come up with a trick.

That defeats the whole purpose of using a mixer since now people's addresses can be directly identified as belonging to the mixer.

I think that if mixers simply pivot to running a coordinator, the damage will not be so bad, since nobody has to do an advertisement for coordinators anyway, they are just added to compatible wallet software.

I believe OP didn't read theymos announcement on the purported mixer ban. Assuming he did, he would understand that theymos already captured his idea in the announcement post. See this;

There's no good way for mixers to operate without being the mixer they need to be. Any other attempt will jeopardize the whole essence of mixing.

With this, I will continue promoting my service on this forum, no longer as a bitcoin mixer, but as an innocent bitcoin wallet, meanwhile, hidden inside the wallet is a bitcoin mixing service.
It's still considered as a mixer according to theymos's post and deserve to be banned, while CoinJoin is a tool to enhance privacy, not really a mixer.

Examples of things that are not banned mixers include exchangers (unless they have a mixing function), CoinJoin-supporting non-custodial wallets, and Monero.

So it means we will see a promotion about non custodial wallet and exchange that offer privacy feature, this will not gonna be easy to get traffic when you're promoting X, while your purpose is to promote Y. I also in doubt if they will successful, but let's see how it goes.

Well, maybe I have to give up here  Grin

Well, better lock this thread if you give up your idea, I don't think any kind of manipulation to promote a mixer here will succeed we have the community looking at every project that is being promoted here and we have the moderators checking the announcement since Bitcoin mixer is a hot topic now, they will see to it that the community will comply and any members will try to manipulate in promoting a mixer will get an outright ban.

The community was ok when there were very few mixers being promoted here, there will be more projects that will come here and utilize Bitcointalk's popularity to promote their project, after January 2 the casino platforms will be the major advertisers here in the signature campaign, I just hope many casinos old and new will launch their campaign here, so we can incentivize quality posters that once part of mixing campaign.

So it will still be useless, and promoting such service will get you banned here.

Well, I must confess that; though I did spend time to read the entire announcement by theymos at the time it was posted, I missed this part you quoted here, or should I say that I misread it rather.

But then, even as hard as it honestly seems or looks, maybe there could still be a way around this, though it's really hard to be honest, just gonna forget about mixers since I personally think that the risk is too high, and not worth the stress.

As your users need to know about that "hidden" function and you plan on advertising this on the forum to gain more users you need to find a way so that
- new users find out that feature without anyone talking about it
- mods and theymos don't find out about that feature

How do you advertise something without talking about and keeping a secret to some certain individuals the same time?
Let me agree that this is hard, very hard, I honestly thought I had a good idea, but this is because I did not notice what theymos said about providing a mixing service as a feature inside another service, and considered that overly as a mixer, which also is banned.

Well, maybe I have to give up here  Grin

Nothing unique, just a simple idea I thought about, and I think it's very feasible, and not only will it allow me to still promote my services on this forum, but it possibly will take away the eyes of the authority from my service.

This way, bitcointalk.org won't be implicated if any thing happens, since users here were technically and practically promoting a bitcoin wallet, not a mixer.

What do you guys think.?

It's unlikely that you can get away with this everything about the word mixers is filtered out based on theymos announcement so you cannot mention the word mixer the admin can make it a banned word and if you are caught trying to manipulate the sentence like mentioning mixer to m-i-x-e-r you are likely to get a ban
This is one example of the filtered word that will likely come out but it will still depend on the forum admin's choice of words I used my forum dashboard as an example.

Looks like you didn't understand fully what theymos had mentioned. What you mentioned of particular feature that is hidden and needed a trick to access it will be publicized, and will be known to the public, and it will fall to this category mentioned by theymos

like wasabi. someone said it wasn't considered a mixer. but coinjoin was considered illegal to use in some countries to which your service if caught the attention of authorities would also be deemed illegal.
