I read a book about SEO (search engine optimization) and one question have not answered from the book.
What impact do comments have on search engine ranking (lets say the Google algorithm)?
Does a blog post which has a lot of comments will be better ranked than a blog post with no or less comments?

If comments are original, it is good for SEO. If it's copy paste crap, it's bad.

I dont think that commencts hae much influence to you google ranking. You should put your main keywords into your maincontent and in a headline!

they have quite some, if you comment a lot of people comment a similar word, it's more likely to appear on top of the results

Not that much probably. Better to do quality guest posting.

probably low. Comments were used as a spam promotion tool years ago then google cracked down on them.
But now there are already opportunities to get rid of this dirt and feel much freer without spam. Although even now, sometimes I get a lot of unnecessary emails

I would say more of the content then the comments since they are poor quality at times.
More like reviews are better to gauge what the value to a search engine it would be to it. Ones which are more than two sentences are more like it. heh!

Thanks for your opinion! Do you know it for sure or do you just think it? I want to spend a lot of time for the optimization of my blog, so I would like to read an opinion of someone who is very familiar with SEO and all other stuff around website and blog optimization for search engines.
