What are the odds that MH370 will be the next big conspiracy theory?

It already is the next big conspiracy. Even if they find the plane and have conclusive evidence of what actually happened to it, conspiracy theorists will do their conspiring and still say there's a cover up or whatever.

Dictionaries define conspire as:

Quote
: to secretly plan with someone to do something that is harmful or illegal

Visit your local court house Monday morning and you'll see Prosecutors attempting to sell all manner of Conspiracy Theories to juries.  They usually succeed.

It's some kind of shelter for those fools who can't accept the world in its' diversity, multyformity and  fortuitousness many things that happen. Instead they're trying to build the whole world into some primitive schemes.

a slightly hysterical, paranoia narrative
more common in excitable high-context societies

I guess a conspiracy is a theory that challenges either the official or mainstream verdict of an event or incident that happened. To me, a conspiracy theory is usually very much like faith in a religion. Doesn't matter what lack of evidence there is the people who peddle it will still believe in it militantly regardless. That's not to say conspiracies are always false, but they tend to hinge on very little or circumstantial evidence.

It's a shit film starring Mel Gibson lol.

Haha. I actually quite enjoyed that film.

I think instead of verdict I'd use or say,  narrative of the events.

Good breakdown of the term conspiracy theory.  I like to entertain a conspiracy from time to time to help me be tolerable of things that I don't necessarily agree with.

Same.
Sometimes people plan stuff behind closed doors and the possibility needs to be discussed. But that doesn't mean we all need to think George Bush planned 9/11 and Bin Laden is alive.

I am waiting for more Snowdens to show up. They will tell people that system they are blindly following is rotten. Just like when The FBI Poisoned Alcohol during Prohibition,  The CIA Had Nayirah al-Sabah Bear False  Witness and that in result provoked First Gulf War intervention or when Asbestos Manufacturers Have Claimed It Was Perfectly Safe for people.
