Mine is all altcoins and losing quite a bit now Sad

Bitcoin is getting stronger again. And as with many years, the movements of Bitcoin put pressure on all the other altcoins. 100% Bitcoin until Bitcoin Stops!
Altcoin also increases, doesn't it? I will not allocate all my money in bitcoin, whereas I see some altcoins that have a percentage increase in prices that are far greater than bitcoin. see how Ripple price rises by more than 20% and it's much higher than bitcoin, and many other altcoins have higher price movements than bitcoin.
I know bitcoin is quite safe so I put about 40% of my total assets and 60% for some altcoins, thats a sound good to me`

after the market is bearish.  I doubt the altcoin.  Today's altcoin is very bad.  I don't choose altcoin for my investment.
BTC and ETH are always my top choices.  is there an altcoin thay following BTC chart now? I don't think there is nothing.  moreover.  altcoin lost its reputation when ICO was no longer wanted by people.

Don't put everything in crypto, put some in fiat money (you can use stablecoins as well), so that when market is down (Bitcoin included) you can get 'em for cheap.

my choice is 70% BTC and 30% for ETH.  BTC has always been my priority.  BTC and ETH control the crypto market.  some good altcoins are BNB, Bitex and Ontology.  but I prefer to collect altcoins for tracking.

It's not necessarily a bad idea to have an entire portfolio filled with altcoins as long as you can trust them and you know their price is going up every year. But the problem here is that bitcoin is controlling the market in most cases and a lot of altcoins move up whenever the price of bitcoin moves up and the same happens when the price of bitcoin goes down. Of course we cannot include all of them here but I mentioned the majority. So a good portfolio in my opinion is minimum 50% in bitcoin and the rest altcoins that you trust. It all depends on your type of investor.

You should stick to the number one Cryptocurrency and the Father of all coins, And that would be Bitcoin, And should not just hodl Altcoins I should say if you want to get on in this bull trend bitcoin is about to explode and make it another All-time high,

Everyone in the forum knows that if bitcoin increased its price so are other decentralized Altcoins but the biggest percentage should always be bitcoin, Well I think you should sell half of your Altcoins for Bitcoin, But sell Altcoins that have a little percentage and kept the coins that are good for holding.
I have always said that bitcoin should prevail in any crypto portfolio. And as it turned out at the latest prices and the entire market bitcoin sets the trend for all other altcoins.

You can't just follow other people's portfolio list just because they successfully acquired a good return there. You will end up busted rather than to make profits.

You have to make your own criteria to build your preferences. However,  if you are really eager to follow someone's list then spend time analyzing their list first rather than just copied the whole thing. At some of the cases, their st is changing frequently depending on coin's behaviour, market behaviour and trend.

You can experiment too as part of facing the risks. It's gonna be tough so focus is a must.

in the bull run that is running right now, it is better if you had a lot of accumulation of Bitcoin in your portfolio.
Now I think that the opposite one will be good, because I expect that bitcoin is going to fall and alts are going to rise. So around 70% alts and 30% btc.

Yes, I have that kind of portfolio percentage. Higher part for bitcoin and lower percentage for altcoins and those are the top altcoins I have. I don't invest and buy altcoins that are low capped.

Mine is all altcoins and losing quite a bit now Sad
Don't lose hope, there's still plenty of time for you to start diversifying correctly. Sell some of your alts and move it to bitcoin as soon as possible or if you have plenty of spare to invest, do it already before bitcoin skyrockets.

Honestly, investing into altcoin is good but making altcoin the only coin you invested in is not a good decision for altcoin are highly manipulated , bitcoin halving is around the corner which would yield you an outstanding profit. I will advice you to use the 60-80% into bitcoin strategy now before it too late.

Well,in my own opinion about good crypto portfolio is investing or having a reasonable amount of bitcoin and the first ten altcoins in the coinmarketcap, this shows a good crypto portfolio,it as nothing to do market price but coin with value any day any time.

Everyone has different investment options and strategies. I do not choose Bitcoin as a preferred investment option. I like cheap Altcoin. Since you can own them in large numbers, with small impacts from whales, they will increase dramatically, and Bitcoin will grow at the same time, you will get double profits.

Currentlu altcoins are not pumping that hard as it was in 2017. If you open "gainers and losers" table on CMC then you would see a couple altcoins that gained 30% today and that's it. Imagine your chance to pick one of those coins out of thousands of shitcoins that lost their price. And at the same price nothing can guarantee that even decent projects will find enough investors now to make their coin grow in price. Just IMHO but altcoin investing right now is even more unsafe than it ever was.

There is nothing as good and bad portfolio, people used to go through the market and after research invest on different altcoins. We've got more than 2000 cryptocurrencies available for investment. There are people who are lucky to invest on the last ranked as well over the first and get the best out of the same. Most of the users portfolio will have maximum investment on bitcoin.

marycrazy08, you ask and and you give the answer to your question, altcoins are mostly used for short-term trading, and not for long-term holding. Most of them actually have no real application, they only exist for a reason of pump&dump, or we can say that some smart people can make profit at the expense of some other people.

At the moment altcoins are not follow BTC, as it has been the case so far, but where you lose money? In top 100 altcoins, maybe 10% are in red, others are in green.

For me personally minimum 90% of portfolio is in BTC, and in any other case it should be at least 80%. I do not see any reason for investing in some altcoins, 90% of them will die or lost value in the next few years.

I am not campaigning against the altcoins, but definitely investing in altcoins has a high losses and the worst is that in the threads of altcoins there is a great exaggerated optimism, the people in the altcoins thread are observing the prices look at the fall that the price is having and even with these large falls continue to be optimistic in exaggeration, it becomes very annoying. bitcoin is more likely to raise prices in the long run, while most altcoins are more likely to fall too much in price or even disappear in the next 2 years.

look at how altcoins work:

Someone today creates a project called ETH that has smart contracts and altcoin is in great demand.

tomorrow someone else creates your X project and does copy/paste the ETH project and adds some things, so the demand for ETH becomes reduced because of the competition

on another day another person creates another Z project and does copy/paste the ETH project and adds some things, so the demand for ETH becomes reduced because of the competition

And people who buy ETH for the price of 0.1 btc will continue to be optimistic thinking that some day ETH will exceed 0.1btc, because these people do not think that there is already a lot of competition among the altcoins, which makes it very difficult for some altcoins to be single investment option

in my opinion the biggest advantage is from the altcoin because if you see it now when the bitcoin price rises the price of the other altcoins will follow. so it's better to stay at 100% altcoin but the altcoin that you choose is a good altcoin like XRP, XLM, EOS and others. but if you want to play safely you can spread them to 50% bitcoin and 50% altcoins.

A good portfolio is 100% Bitcoin.

If you want to speculate on altcoins anyway, Bitmex allows you to long/short them without having to part with your precious Bitcoins. All profits will be paid out in Bitcoin too. Most people trade altcoins to end up with more Bitcoin anyway, so this is quite a convenient platform allowing you to do so, just make sure you don't overshoot using too much leverage. 2x leverage is more than enough.

Diversification is for people not knowing what to invest in. In crypto you have the option to choose between Bitcoin, and, eh, a bunch of crap.

Majority of my funds are in crypto, I sold some of my altcoins before the bitcoin price started increasing. Will buy back some of them once bitcoin price settles at certain point. Still, don't forget to diversify ypur investment.

I had the same experience in 2017.
I had good profit from bitcoin and decided to buy some altcoins, hoping to increase my profit.
It was very bad decision.
When the bitcoin started to fall, altcoins lost even more value.
If I left all the funds in bitcoin I would lose much less.
After this experience I invest now only in bitcoin and I sold everything else.
Bitcoin is unstable but other coins are even less predictable

Yes sir, that's exactly what happened, I mainly invested in altcoins, and now i realized that it is the worst decision. You guys really help me realize this now. I am planning to wait until i get breakeven on some altcoins i invested lately and convert it to BTC and hold it long term instead. Thank you so much sir for sharing.

a "portfolio" that contains only bitcoin as its cryptocurrency simply because all the altcoins that are out there get dumped no matter if bitcoin rises or falls and that happens each time without fault so it is a bad idea to invest in something that is always falling.
the only case where altcoins become good investments is for day traders who have the ability to make profit from the altcoin pumps.

The ideal portfolio really differs from person to person. There's no sort of ideal portfolio allocation that can work well for everyone; as that's for you to decide for yourself.

Are you guys following most people are doing? Like 50-75% BTC and rest altcoins?
Completely depends on what the altcoins are and how long are you trading/holding them.

Mine is all altcoins and losing quite a bit now Sad
It's just either:
1. You've put your money on total shitcoins.
2. You are super impatient and are just buying in to make a quick buck.

If you want a good portfolio, read up on what institutions are investing in. Generally, they allocate a large percentage to bitcoin, and also put money into other coins in the top five. As always, you must do your own due diligence. I like some other coins within the top 15.

I don't agree with that that the movement of bitcoin affect other altcoins, because if you have been following the market closely you will see that all other altcoins started appreciating in price the movement bitcoin gain stands and start increasing in price, I believe bitcoin price have a great positive influence on the price of all other coins in the market. So if am to share my portfolio then huge percentage will go into bitcoin and I will maintain minimal amount in other altcoins.
