A good exchange is the one that has much volume to allow liquidity, easy way of depositing your crypto and fiat currency and also able to withdraw your coins anytime you desire to do so without much restrictions.

I'm new to crypto. Every exchange I research on to buy bitcoins has a lot of bad reviews. People post that they have lost alot of money/bitcoins on most of the exchanges. Nothing seems safe

That is why it is recommended not to use exchange wallet site as storage of your cryptos, better to have hardware wallet or paper wallet, so that if you want to trade just send your crypto to the site and cash it out if you want to be really safe. Not recommended but can be optional.

It's pretty tricky surrounding here, and a lot of unclear regulations, so wondering if there are anyone from this area here to share suggestion for the best exchange option in Serbia?

Poloniex, kucoin , OKEX and Binance Exchange are all examples of good exchange. The criteria to use for searching a good exchange is the variety of pairs of coins. A good point to watch is KYC verification by the exchange and security of your account by offering a google 2fa authentication.

I also use most of this list. I can only add that it is always the monitor reviews, watch how they deal with problematic situations.

Well, that's very true. Support and immediate response time to tickets by traders is very important. Some exchanges have poor support which makes users scared of what might be. So support is very key when looking for a good exchange platform.

Keep in mind that exchanges can be centralized or decentralized. But major points are:
Qualities of a good exchange:
Team
Tax Payments
Security (Compulsory 2FA)
Hack proof measures (Wallet security)
Liquidity
Volume
Scalability
Upgrades
Updates
Consistency
So look well before you leap.

I started being on the crypto last year and I have gotten much experience on the cryptocurrency market and good exchanges. Everyone on the crypto market wants a good exchange and we always doubt which one is the best so we all go in for that one. Good exchanges are not for profit solely but to see to the financial needs of the other. They develop huge money for other projects and the surplus money they generate is returned to local charitable projects. A little knowledge I have about good exchange sites.

Hi there!
It's just a friendly suggestion to try https://changenow.io.

We do our best to deliver the best service to our clients and constantly improve it. It's safe, limitless and doesn't require any sign ups.
Also, we've managed to get the highest rating on TrustPilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/changenow.io amongst other exchanges. So, it does prove something Smiley

We'll be happy to see you on our service!

Anyone who thinks that trustpilot holds any weight to prove the legitimacy of a company should really think twice about it.

These reviews could be faked easily.

In comparison, binance, which handles over 2 billion USD a day worth of cryptocurrency, only has 51 reviews. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/binance.com

Your direct competitor, shapeshift, only has 60 reviews, https://www.trustpilot.com/review/shapeshift.io

Although they are atleast 10x as big as you.

See https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/changenow.io and https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/shapeshift.io

It all depends on your definition of exchange...exchanges rank in aspect of volume and security...
In volume... binance is among the best
While when it comes to security... kucoin is the best for me
And there are also exchanges that contain gems that will make one rich .. all you have to do is research!

If you want to trading you should choose good exchanges for you. There should be a low withdraw-commission, and fast withdraw. ON Okex/Qryptos you should do KYC verification. Hitbtc, Kucoin, Huobi don't need verif. Also the choice of the exchanger depends on the coins that you want to sell/buy

Well...it really depends on your criteria.

My criteria would be:
  • Fees
  • Credability
  • Paymenth Methods
  • Geographics
  • Verifacation
  • Trading Volume
  • Interface

The interface part might sound silly, but nevertheless, if you're a beginner, then it's quite important. I've actually written a blog post about best crypto exchanges - https://cryptogidy.com/best-cryptocurrency-exchanges/
I would like to point out Geographics as well since a lot of exchanges have specific rules based on the country you are living in. I hope it helped.

Use GDAX. It's probably the best fiat/crypto exchange. If you need to buy or trade crypto only, then go for Binance. It's good and it doesn't require KYC. You also can try Kucoin for alts as well. Of course, no one guarantees you 100% safety. Never know what can happen to those exchanges. That's why you should hold the majority of your funds in your own wallet you have private key to. Transfer to exchanges whenever you want buy or sell some coins. Then move money back to your own wallet.

exchange are cheap and focused on many altcoin, binance is best. But This exchange is very common situation lag if market fluctuations. there are a lot pump and dump on this exchange. In my opinion, bittrex is still good exchange, although trade fees are quite high. if you are a good trader and use margin, bitmex is the # 1 exchange

I've been using Bittrex, Kucoin, HitBTC to trade bitcoin and altcoins and I have not encountered any problems with these three exchanges. I also just tried Qryptos and it's also good. OKex has very customer service and if ever there are issues with withdrawals or deposits, they immediately handle your concern within minutes.

Always keep your coins and tokens on your own wallet and transfer only what you want to trade with in exchanges.

One of the most important thing is whether your funds will be able to get through the exchange before you are able to start buying coins / tokens. And another thing is withdrawal.

I remember there is a period where all the funds too very long to go through and some even got rejected (for me is Gatehub) Having real bad experience with them and no customer service at all!

I would suggest Kraken as I had sucessfully transferred funds over without issue. If they do not have the coins or tokens you want, you can try Biannce or Kucoin. These two are my favorite exchanges for Alt coins at the moment.

Usually I will use ETH for transfer as it is faster than BTC

If buying bitcoins or any cryptocurrencies online would have been such a hectic thing, nobody would have been able to do it, everyone would be complaining only. If you've had your own bad experiences (or if not - as if you have not even tried one and came here just to blame exchanges), go through Currency exchange section of the forum here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0
to get all your requirements met without the need to register at any of those exchanges you're not familiar/fine with. TBH, there are a lot of great exchanges including, but not limited to, coinbase, kraken, localbitcoins (p2p), bitfinex, bitstamp which will allow you to buy Bitcoins using credit card at a faster speed. If you're not interested in giving your identity to them, you better prefer what I gave you.

I use Coinbase. As for me, it is the best and easiest way to buy Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum with the credit card or bank account. It offers to buy and sell cryptocurrency in 32 countries, which is a quite significant amount. Also, it offers an API for developers and merchants to build applications, which makes it even easier to use.

There are so many exchanges available and as you have noted, there are plenty of negative reviews to go around for each one. Do your own research and see which one caters the most to your needs. Do they support the purchasing method you intend to use? Do they support the coins you want to invest in? Are there geographical limitations to consider? We still find ourselves in the nascent stages of the crypto world. As a result, these exchange platforms are still going through growing pains. That isn't completely the fault of these companies, however, not entirely. Cryptocurrency has yet to solve its scaleability issues and therefore you will continue to see a lot of backlash concerning transactions speeds and fees. For now, go for the exchange that seems the most secure to you. Many of the posts above listed a variety of well-known exchanges, feel free to learn more on how to choose an exchange and check out some of the reputable exchanges we list in our mintdice blog: https://www.mintdice.com/blog/a-guide-to-cryptocurrency-exchanges

If you are from europe and want to buy coins using fiat, i can recommend anycoindirect.eu - a company based in the Netherlands. They accept SEPA as well.

In terms of safety the most recommended exchanges are decentralized, i.e. IDEX, BarterDEX, WavesDEX and probably Binance in a few months.

Hey there,

Unfortunately that's a very broad, open-ended question. There are so many exchanges out there; some have been around for a long-time and have great reputations, whereas some are on the other end of the spectrum and have been faced with allegations and controversy.

Definitely do your research and if you intend to purchase multiple cryptocurrencies, perhaps send your money to an exchange that sells all/most of those currencies. Another key indicator can also be the volume through that particular exchange. For this, go to www.coinmarketcap.com (the holy bible), search for the exchange, and it will tell you the exchange's daily (24hr) volume; if an exchange has put through $1 billion, then it's a good indicator that it's good (for the most part) whereas if the volume is under $1 million, then it may have issues (or may be new/have only low-volume coins).

It really is a hard question to answer, but I'm sure you'll make the correct decision.
