When you need options, ask for them. I saw this multiple times in the AM and ActM threads and people were happy to write them. Smiley

why not buy some put options for your ACTM?

There isn't enough of an option market on either BTCT or BitFunder to set up a proper option-portfolio to hedge against price drops. Right now there are 2 different put options on BTCT for a total of 306 shares and 1 on Bitfunder.

Liquidity is a problem on the current form of BTC stock exchanges. We need Market Makers like wall street.(video: http://www.investopedia.com/video/play/role-market-maker/).

You may also consider diversifying your exchange risk by holding assets on multiple exchanges.

Thanx OgNasty. This makes sense with the SEC saga recently which almost shut down BTCT.co to US investors. P.S. I am in South Africa.

I really want to, but I am not comfortable with my knowledge on Options. I was actually thinking of doing this yesterday when my shares where very high as a form of insurance. Just not 100% sure how to do it yet.

Is this thread intended to discuss securities or general portfolio/investment strategies? The later would be interesting.

The later yes, a how to strategy guide for setting up your BTC portfolio. This thread is not intended as a discussion on the different type of securities, IPOs, etc.\

Depending how large your holding is of ACTM you very well might not be able to get your investment out without taking a decent sized hit so I hope that you are taking that into consideration when looking at buying into other securities. Secondly while I can't think of many better places to get advice on BTC investments you will be getting a lot of recommendations based on very little knowledge of what works at least in a traditional markets and most likely people trying to get you to buy into whatever they just bought into.

All being said and done however I would also be considering looking into of the the securities which offers fixed payouts such as this or this.

How should I divide up my BTCT.co profolio in terms of my purchases? Currently I hold 100% of my portfolio in ACTM, but I am scared of the risk with keeping all my eggs in one basket. So I want to diversify.

What do you think of this plan for my portfolio division:
10% Company with 70% confidence level
70% Company with 90 % confidence level
20% Cash reserve (in BTC) to keep my portfolio liquid. This is used to buy into new IPOs.

Edit #1 This thread is intended to discuss portfolio investment strategies as a whole, not to discuss different individual investments.
