What is a pool , one which has ran for a while and trusted.

Also seems like each pool uses different mining software ? Which mining pool has a customizable mining software, i.e to limit computational power on my PC to take it easier on the hardware ?

BitMinter is designed from the ground up to be easy for beginners.

I can only think of 2 pools that have their own software (Bitminter and 50BTC), but every pool that I know of is compatible with CGMiner.

If you're looking for a list of pools, there is a sticky in this subforum called "Mining Pool List". Try looking there. Wink
