Can anyone explain what IPO is? I see people offering to purchase IPO or something on brand new alt-coins, etc. Please explain like I'm five.

IPO is an acronym of "Initial public offering"

What does it mean?

So, usually, when a company wants to go on a market (like Nasdaq, or FITSE-MIB) it goes to a Broker which decide price of a single stock.

In cryptocurrency market, is similar. Boss of the alt-coins sell a part of its coin (Generally, coin is premined in that case) and then, people decide to buy or not.

I bought IPO Alt-Coin about a month ago and have already made over 120% counting dividends and current stock price. IPO Alt-Coin is a damn goldmine, and an amazing dividend paying hedge.

If you don't understand IPO then avoid at all costs. Basically it is better to avoid IPOs unless of course you have cash or BTC which you can afford to lose.

It is btter to just avoid them even if you do understand.
why does an alt coin need an IPO, if it is "good" people will make all the websites, store fronts and other useless crap.

I am all for alt coins, but this IPO business is.... well I promised myself I would try to stop being negative.. so I will stop talking now..

They are just selling a new altcoin before its launch, before anyone can mine them. If you believe the new altcoin has potential, you can buy the altcoin during the IPO instead of mining them and you win more profits when its price go up. The reality is most altcoin flops and those invested in the IPO loose money.

If you do not understand what an IPO is, it is better to avoid them.
