You can search for more details on the website Ethereum Classic. I think Ethereum (ETH) is present first, than Ethereum Classic (ETC). In popularity, ETH dominates and plays an active role today. And the price of ETH is also more expensive to occupy the second position after bitcoin in Coinmarketcap. Please find out and explore further.
Ethereum was never first present and I think anyone who was in the Crypto space at 2014 knows about this, ethereum is a fork of ethereum classic, the original ethereum chain was renamed to ethereum classic because a number of persons where in support of the new coin fork and not the old one, this is why Roger ver kept calling bch bitcoin because he wanted same incidence but it never happened and I don't think it would ever happen in the Crypto space.

Ethereum came by the original Ethereum, now called  Ethereum Classic forking. They changed some of the rules and the original blockchain was renamed to Ethereum Classic.

Ethereum Classic (ETC) is a fork of Ethereum. Or perhaps Ethereum is a fork of Ethereum Classic… It depends on who you ask and can be a little confusing.

Either ways, let's dive in and see what really is Ethereum Classic.

DAO, a smart contract in Ethereum was hacked or say misused to steal 3.6 million ethers.
Ethereum community voted for a hard fork to go back to the instance before the incident while some of the people went against a hard fork.
The token which hardforked to deny hacker of their money is called Ethereum.
The unforked chain that let hacker take 3.6 million of tokens were called Ethereum classic.

Different forks of ethereum have been created in the past and ETC is one of such.
Ethereum Classic has attracted a lot of folks because of its upgrade when compared to ethereum itself, but it cannot serve the total function of ethereum.

Ethereum classic was definitely created after ETH. Not knowing this should not be the reason for not learning. https://blockgeeks.com/guides/what-is-ethereum-classic/

I think if someone does not know aboutethereum classic he/she should just stay away from it, whatever the reality is Ethereum is the real coin now and a real platform with working services and many teams of developers working for it so i have my confidence and trust in Ethereum.

Ethereum Classic (ETC) is a fork of Ethereum.

Wrong.

Or perhaps Ethereum is a fork of Ethereum Classic

True.

And it shouldn't depend on who you ask. It is a historic fact. Ethereum forked from Ethereum Classic by changing the consensus rules of the previous (original) chain. The original blockchain was renamed to Ethereum Classic. So the classic people are those who didn't fork, and decided to be consistent with the original chain rules.
