So long? I will charge 0.2-0.4 btc for your OP. Any price below 0.2 btc is not deserved to have professional translation. The rate in fiat is 30-60 usd in 1k words in developed country. So you estimate by yourself.

Best way to charge is per word. I do some translation work from time to time and depending on the difficulty of the text, I charge between 1000 and 2500 Satoshis per word. I think that is fair price.

There is no specific price for thread translations especially for new coin announcements because it is often paid with the new coin and in most cases the new coin does not have a value yet because it is not yet listed in an exchange.
I doubt anyone would accept payment for translation in new coins. It is hell of a work and hell of a risk to not get anything in return.
I see OP wants the translator to monitor changes and update the topic in question,it makes this even more complicated as it becomes not a one time job of translating some text, however complicated it is,but also transating all the additions and changes OP makes to the thread in the future
there is a sig campaign in the works, too
so OP must have at least 1-2 btc to kick it off

what's the purpose of the translation?

as it's alt related why not offer bounties to members of your community. that's what most of them do. more than likely you'll end up with some google translate junk. half this forum seems to be fed through it.

OP wants to translate his thread and post it on every local community thread,he also wants it updated too
the problem with bounties :you pay much less but get a very low quality translation, well usually
just checked it out Cheesy vaping and pornstars o_0
he has been tagged with neg trust already ,too

But the payment from bounty is not ever is less, from the booming ico in this time is reaching over 10 million dollar and i seeing about the local translation and every sentence are very difficult for understanding for me(local language). but the final bounty pay is so far from the word of less.

I would say 40-50$ could be considered as fair amount and this is only for the translation , to prevent crappy translation etc... you should make a bonus. If we assume that you are going to let the translators post the translated thread in the local sub-sections then you should give a bonus based on how much post that thread received. (a few cents * amount of posts = bonus) and those who fail to receive a specific amount of posts in their thread won't receive a bounty at all.

This is one way to go because it will be surprising to see translators just translate the topic alone and forget about the thread and no one to monitor it thereby dead on arrival and not even achieved the objective intended.

your ANN thread is kinda long so i would agree to what OmegaStarScream have said though some may only use google translate to shorten their work time so be sure to check it if it is really translated manually

Instead of manually checking if the translation was done by google translate or not, it's simpler to just ask the translator to post the thread in their local subforum, and then message the subforum moderator and ask him/her if the translation standard is sufficient... That way you're sure a native speaker that has sufficient trust has reviewed the translation quality Wink

This is just the cheapest way to go about it even before paying because I could equally just use google to translate without even understanding it one bit and you yourself is not better of because you don't even understand because if you do, you would have done it yourself in other to save cost.

I counted words in your Announcement thread, it contains precisely 4543 words; 27396 characters of technical text.

I searched for professional translation services. Here are their payment rates:

Standard  Content                   Technical Content
Spanish     10 cents per word   16 cents per word
German     12 cents per word   18 cents per word
French       10 cents per word   18 cents per word
Chinese     11 cents per word   15 cents per word
Japanese   14 cents per word   20 cents per word
Korean      14 cents per word   20 cents per word
Italian      10 cents per word   18 cents per word
Dutch       14 cents per word   20 cents per word
Portuguese    10 cents per word   16 cents per word

So I guess if you want totally professional translation you will pay quite a bit. I think that you will find someone who can do it cheaper tho.

To be honest that is very irrational for the people is just using a translator for translating the content.... So the amount are need for considering your translation participant....  Better participant and better rate or amount for that... It is will matching just like an achievement for your participant.

above we can see what happens when you google translate to spanish then reverse translate into english Smiley
as a  translator I can tell you that your text is a complicated tech text,it would require a lot of time and effort to translate it and do not expect it to be cheaper than 70-100$ for 500 words
you may get better offers but you would not want your investors or future clients to be put off by the unprofessional text that lacks sense
what languages do you want the topic to be translated to?

Why to pay with Bitcoin , if your thread announce a new coin or ICO you can pay the translators with this coin , I see most of ICOs do that , when the coin is traded they can sell their bounties , from other side , if you want to pay with Bitcoin I think the fair amount is $50 or more , because your thread is long and might take a lot of time .

This seems the best place to ask the question.

What is a fair BTC payment for thread translation and how do you manage upkeep?

This is our thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xero-limited-edition-custom-bitcoin-snapbacksbling-pgp-signed-holograms-1630594

Depends upon the deal between you and the thread owner, if you agree with small or large amount well let it be, but i've seen some cheap translator service and all of them i see at altcoin section and many of them payed cheaper, but if you think you are professional translator and have a great reputation for that job well you can really ask for bigger price per ANN, But i its very rare to see those high paying ones since their are so many cheap translator who's offering their service here.

The thread has over 4500 words and the minimum payment a translator gets for translating 1000 words is $10 and hence he should get about $45 for the translation but I still feel you should modify the text in the thread and align it well so that readers can understand the content and it's easy to read.
